i've read about the cops, but also about everyone in an area becoming instantly aware of exactly where you are when even momentarily noticed by a single guard?...

Yep. In fact even if a mere guard dog becomes aware of your position it alerts all other guards in the area and they all instantly know your exact position. It doesn't surprise me one bit that people would bitch and whine about this aspect, but from my POV it's simply a matter of the game teaching you, "Don't alert your enemies, not even dogs, ya dumb ass. lern 2 stelth"

Man I just cant get into this, Im very early but just not feeling the game, wierd because I enjoyed the first, I think all the social stuff and the whole cyber war is just a turn off for myself, I thought it wouldnt bother me but was wrong, guess not for me.

Well, 2 hours in and I really like this game. They really made a huge improvement over the first game in terms of theme, story, characters and missions which is overall much better than in the original. AP can F right off with all his family and "Iconic" cap.

The characters and missions in this game fit the theme excellently and what is also important, is that all missions I've completed so far doesn't have even 1% of serious stuff in them and original game was full this shit from top to bottom. It's not over-the-top Saints Row level of missions and stuff but still much better than in the original game.

I hope the rest of the game will be as good as the beginning of it.

P.S. Unfortunately the physics of cars and bikes is.... shit, although I really like how choppers behave in this game.

Beat the game last night, and am sitting 4 trophies shy of the Platinum. No drive to 100% the game, though.

Felt like
the ending just sorta happened? Like the final three missions leading up to the last mission are alright (the robot spider one easily being the best of them), but that final mission just kinda comes and goes.

Also
what the fuck at the game's whole... total dismissal of what happens to Horatio? Holy shit. The Marcus crying/drilling the HDD bit was alright, but the way everyone is just super chill with one of their best friends getting murdered was such a huge bummer. I get they couldn't make them spend the rest of the game mourning him, but c'mon.

Anyway, apart from the sort of limp end game, I loved it. I hope the season pass stuff is just as good.

I kinda got the impression that Horatio was added to the story relatively late in the dev cycle.

Finally beat the game. I loved it mostly. The story was pretty awful and I didn't care about the characters much but the gameplay was a lot of fun, the graphics amazing and I really felt compelled to play all of the missions and find most of the optional objects.

The last mission though... Jesus Christ.
I must have died 50 times trying to find a good way to get through the Wrench section. The game goes from a 3 in difficulty to a 10 for one mission. Did they even play test that? It really hurt the game in my eyes to have such a terrible last mission.

I sort of wish there were more missions like the
Wrench
one, but I didn't find that one exceptionally more difficult or anything (took 2 tries). The game is pretty easy especially if you use the stun and cell distract hacks liberally. Coupled with being able to know where every enemy is at any time..

Final thoughts, WD1 > WD2. Story wise 2 is mildly better, mostly due to some funny character interactions, but it all still felt pretty hollow by the end. Makes me think like a ton of stuff was cut from the game, especially with that one character.

To top it off, no convoys, no gang hideouts (stash hideouts were a weak substitute), no digital trips, no privacy invasions, and I even missed the towers and QR code puzzles. Didn't bother with doing Uber, felt boring. Never got into the multi but the first one had a way better invasion system.

I decided to re-play the original Watch Dogs on PC after beating Watch Dogs 2. I played it orignally the PS4 and was one of the few that liked it. I have to say, the graphics look great at 1440p on Ultra and at 165hz, it makes it feel really classy.

There's something I appreciate about the tone of the original. I know people didn't like brooding Aiden but I like him and the noir-vibe compared to the obnoxious millennial hacker stuff of 2. The gameplay is better in two but I going back now, I think the first game holds up just fine.

What I did was hide in the back of the facility and keep sending gangs at them

I think the tone of the mission was wrong.
They equip you with a grenade launcher, Marcus tells you to blow shit up and you got a fast punk song playing talking about killing. It reminded me of a rampage mission in GTA5. If you actually play it like the game seemingly wants you to, I don't see how you can beat it since the waves of enemies keep spawning.

I eventually stealthed my way entirely through it and it wasn't too hard. They should have added some dialogue telling you/Wrench that you can either stealth your way in or go brute force. That would have helped.

Exactly this. The premise was 100% wrong. I tried the "suggested" way about 5 times and got destroyed every single time. Then I tried the regular "Marcus" way and nailed it.

Yep. I tried the way they suggest once and died miserably and figured it would never work since Wrench is just as combat fragile as Marcus is. Went through the hacker route just fine and only had to firefight a little towards the end

Yeah I'm struggling with this as well. I'm just going to do the main missions; but the attempt at including the followers, just makes the game so diffuse. I much preferred the simplicity of the first game. I don't like any of the characters either –– especially not the protagonist.

Followers are the same as XP. I thought that was not really well implemented, as they could have added social benefits of having more followers and also make all available if you had less followers but more difficult.

Played a bit less than 10 hours I guess.

The first 2 to 3 hours are awesome, they finally got the right tone and art style for the game, with a great political angle with the activist group. So far the story is interesting, but what you do in the missions or the overworld has no impact and it's problematic (Killing people with machine gun V. being peaceful)

Gameplay Wise you are free to play as you want. I love creating mayhem from the air with the drone, calling cops and gangs and letting them kill each other, then walking past them and getting to the objective.

Overworld is better than WD1 but still worse than GTA V. It doesn't feel that alive, the gameplay possibilities are limited and the level design too. Even compared to Assassin's Creed it's 5 years behind that level.

It seems to lack secondary missions but maybe I didn't play enough ?

I love the customization of the character, it's the best I've played in a game yet. GTA V easily beaten, I change outfit between every mission.

It doesn't run well on PC (GTX1070 on a 3440x1440)

Shooting is ok, driving ok too, but coming from GTA V you have less cars, less motos, no air vehicles and physics are all over the place.

No start button to cut the action and reload checkpoint is awfully stressful.

Not game of the year but a lot of fun anyway.

The world in this game is one of the most alive open worlds I've ever seen, so I completely disagree with you on it not feeling alive. NPCs interact with each other in ways that constantly surprised me. The landmarks and buildings are unique enough to stand out on their own and it really nailed the feel of San Francisco.

The gameplay possibilities aren't limited either. Once you start getting more skills at your disposal, you can use all sorts of ways to get in and out of missions and situations (mass blackout hack, vehicle hacks, forge a warrant on a target, drones, etc.) The gunplay is pretty subpar, but the hacking gameplay is great once you start levelling up your skills.

Also, you can just hit the touchpad to bring up the map in order to pause the game.

Finally opened my copy from my backlog pile...had it since release.

what a treat !

I just got the jumper RC and man this game reeks polish ( so far ) I am playing on the pro and everything looks good. I am liking the vibe and I can tell this will be an enjoyable experience if it keeps up.

I platinumed the first one and I hope to GOD this does not have any trophies like that "drinking game"

Playing on the PS4 pro it feels like there is a bit of black crush going on with the imagine. Shadows are VERY dark. I would say its my TV settings but this game seems to be the only one I have an issue with. Anybody know if there are any ps4 settings that should be tweaked for HDR games?

Does anyone have trouble connecting to a friend? I'm playing on PS4 Pro, and I can't seem to connect to one of my friends. We want to do the co-op and collectible stuff together, but whenever we try to join each other we get this:

"Session Found. Joining..." and then "Session no longer exists."
or "Teaming up with USERNAME" and then "USERNAME is not available."

Neither of us have trouble connecting to other players in the game, we just have a problem connecting to each other. The Ubisoft support page suggested I open up some ports, which I did, but that didn't work. It also suggested that I put my PS4 into a DMZ, which I did, but that didn't work. Also, after putting the PS4 into the DMZ, I get a "Your connection to the Ubisoft servers has been lost." message when I boot up the game.

It's kind of frustrating. We had the same issue with The Crew, another Ubisoft joint, too.

Trump inspired storyline
that I'm not sure I can stomach right now. How much further do I have if I'm mainlining the game?

Tempted to get the two upcoming story DLCs but man, season passes are expensive these days. I hope they'll be available standalone at a cheaper price, I don't need all the other fluff.

Having a hard time getting through this one. Its hard to put my finger on but it just feels kinda...boring.

Its mechanically competent (except for shooting. Shooting sucks ass) but its hard to get invested in the story or the world.

Also the game seems to emphasize stealth but most of the environments Ive played through dont feel like they were really designed for stealth in mind other than scattering of chest-high walls to hide behind with either your character (I cant even remember his name) or your drone.

I promise stealth can be achieved. Been playing every mission using the phone and drones only, no melee either. At least half of the missions force you inside and there's always a way in, especially through distractions. I'm a stealth fanatic though, so it's what I'm always looking for. but if you play the campaign like splinter cell blacklist ghost runs, with speed and timing in mind, you'll see the stealth route.

So far I'm through the Limp Nudle mission and I haven't fired a real gun. I've been able to do every mission with my drones and occasionally stun gunning/melee-ing a guard if they sneak up on me. I usually don't even enter the compounds myself. I'm loving it, feels very different than anything I've ever played.

Also love the story, it's basically the story of Anonymous scripted out to a video game and made a little more Hollywood. If you liked the story go read "We Are Anonymous"

Only frustration I've had is in the New Dawn Temple I lost connection with a drone at the end, went go in myself and fell down the elevator shaft and had to start over :/

Finished yesterday. I played through the whole thing without using a gun once and it didn't feel like I was missing anything.

I did feel like the game went on a little long and that
everyone forgot Horatio existed really quickly.
It's definitely a huge step up from the last game which I felt really burned by (and was the first game I sold in about a decade). The shift in tone and to a more colorful setting did wonders.

This game is pretty fun, played a lot more than I expected over weekend. Missions are very well designed, you just find out you could do it differently instead and it's just very interesting when you manage to pull it off without stepping inside at all. First game tried that too but mostly failed in that, hacking is so good now. It's like open world Splinter Cell now rather than go to marker and shoot everyone, repeat. You can play it like that but it's not very interesting that way.

they ditched the out of place serious tone of the first game and went complete stupid, at least it feels like GTA now rather than some moronic contradicting batman vigilante. Pretty good game overall, didn't expect to like it this much.

I've had Watch Dogs 2 in my library for a while, got it for free with a ssd, but been preoccupied with The Division, started playing yesterday, and I'm loving it.

The feeling of sneaking in, sneaking out without alerting anyone is awesome, just did the New Dawn mission, and no one ever knew I was there. In the mission before at the New Dawn camp, I didn't even step a foot inside the premises, did it all with the rc car.

In the first Watch Dogs, I would sneak, but I did kill quite a bit, in this game I really don't want to kill anyone, so I really hope the melee attacks aren't lethal. My head-canon says they are knocked out, lol.

I do like that there's more color than the first game.

This game doesn't have the option to change the camera distance, does it? I miss the closer, over-the-shoulder type used in the first game.

Hey guys, I just got the game last night and started playing. Just played up to the scene on the beach after the opening "mission".

Question for the PC gamers.

How does Pixel Density vs Output resolution work???

For example, does it mean that if I set the game to 4k, then set Pixel Density to half...or anywhere less than 1, that it does some form of checkerboard?

Do I have that process backwards? I want to know how screen res vs pixel density works and how to play around with it.

Is there a post/article that handles this?

Thanks

Edit* Or is it just a fancy way of saying "downampling" / "upscaling"...lol.

Edit 2** NM, found an article on it. What I'm looking for is "Temporal Filtering". I don't remember that in the menu, but I'll look into it tonight.

I would look into them and see if they sound interesting to you. If you havent done it, $911 feels like a main mission that got listed as a side op for some reason. I also really liked the graffiti one because the rooftop layouts to get to the points are a bit more engaging than usual, but its very much a "go to these 4 places and hit a button there" style one.

Came back to say Temporal Filtering is pretty darn cool. Running everything maxed out and have Temporal Filtering on with a 4k TV. I sometimes see some shadows/artifacts from it, but the boost to the framerate is incredible.

I had input lag for some reason using a wireless 360 controller. Switched to wired and it seemed fine.

I can't seem to figure out why my wireless 360 controllers are showing input lag in newer games. Sometimes turning off Vsync works (DOOM), but it didn't work with Watch_Dogs 2. (I hate having Vsync off)

Older games seen to run ok with wireless controllers. Looks like I'll just go with a wired X1 controller for WD2.

Yeah, victims of your melee attacks sure do look pretty dead to me. And they never wake up. But on my second playthru I noticed the melee tutorial at the beginning does specifically say it's a non-lethal KO, though.

Man I wish I didn't buy this for my XB1. First indoor section looked ok, but as soon as I got to the open world... ay yi yi. What a hot mess. The game looks fun though. Control scheme seems overly complicated.

I saw this policeman tell this homeless guy at the Palace of Fine Arts to leave and that he could use Wi-Fi and look at porn elsewhere. The homeless dude got to and said he was actually looking for jobs. Don't worry, I knocked that lame ass cop on his ass.

Then I went to the shantytown and saw a dude speaking English proposing to a woman speaking Spanish. I thought it was pretty cool.

When I stop doing missions and just walk around I am amazed at all the npc interactions. You see people practicing kick-boxing, macking on each other (even same-sex), and just chilling in all different positions. Ubisoft needs the highest props for all this.

I'm about 4 hours in and I really enjoy this game style and mood, but I absolutely hate the stealth in it.

I feel like your tech tree specs for someone who's going to be more aggressive (i.e. Focusing on gunplay) than a trickster or someone who wants to stay in the shadows. I currently have no intention of killing anyone or firing a gun, but the tools at my disposal to do the opposite of exactly that seems very limited. Not only that, the fact I can't drag unconscious bodies away seems asinine to me.

Upgrade the social skill tree that unlocks mass distraction, then unlock manipulating vehicles, you should be set for most of the game. I literally run from spot to spot using the distract call function, the ai is so bad as long as they're not full alert they'll immediately start looking at the phone and forget you. Then add mass distraction for entering and exiting building and you're almost unstoppable. The security in missions becomes laughable as you are able to start turning it off and on at will. Also, distractions/explosions away from the objective is a little OP, and draws most guards away for a minute or two. Only guns i have are pistol and stun launcher for online, i use phone only in campaign and have meleed maybe 3 people over the course of it, that's including the opening intro where the game does it for you.

Always felt splinter cell was too restrained, especially with how spotting worked in the early games, but WD2 feels like they figured out how to allow the player to do what they want instead of rigid paths and routes.

I am actually surprised how much I've liked the game. Even though the car driving and physics are not as good as GTA V, visually it is a good looking game and we definitely could use more games set in the Bay Area. It's nice visiting places I've been in real life and seeing that they are reasonably accurate. I like that they have also tried to give you reasons to actually visit different places and try to put missions all over the map. The game rarely has the issue of empty, boring places like the mountains in GTA V.

To me the online aspects are something I can't be bothered with but the main and side missions so far have been mostly fun to do. I have tried to play a no kills, all stealth and gadgets playstyle but sometimes you just got to cap a guy.

The biggest bugs in the game seem to be with spawning of things. I've had enemies despawn leaving an area completely unguarded and cars keep getting losts if a cutscene plays. I mean how hard is it to save the location of the player car?

I do sometimes feel like if the game had a jump button for the player character it would be way too easy to get to places. I use the jumper all the time to essentially avoid going to expected route because of the high jump.

Hi guys. Quick bump about an issue I am having on PC.

Fors ome reason environmental shadows have started flickering like crazy. When I last played this game a month or so again everything was running fine, but now it's not... So it's definetly not related to the power of my machine. I've tried to lower my max buffered frames looking at guides online and it hasn't done anything.

Any suggestions?

It's a bug with the latest NVIDIA driver. It affects PCSS and HTFS shadows. Same thing happens in The Division. Waiting for them to release a fixed driver.

Nice patch notes

This patch introduces several free content updates, tweaks to online gameplay, improvements, and bug fixes and will be pushed to all platforms soon. It will also prepare the San Francisco Bay Area for the arrival of the Human Conditions DLC.

Because the Bay Area is very large, this patch is pretty hefty. As all of our online activities take place in a seamless world, we need to make sure everyone has the update so that we don't split the community. The patch will be about 10 GB on both PS4 and XB1, and 14 GB on PC (PC-specific updates in this patch can be found at the bottom of the article).

As a final note, we'd like to add that all present and future online DLC content is available in Guest Mode. If you don't own the DLC, but your friend does, you can experience that content with them by having them invite you through the multiplayer app.

• New World Locations - In preparing for the Human Conditions DLC, many new locations have been added or updated in the world map. We're not going to list them all out here, but once this patch drops you may want to go exploring. Tweet us at @watchdogsgame to show us what you found.

• New Dances – Marcus loves to get down to his favorite tunes, and we thought it was unfair that he only had one move to express himself. We've added new variations to his dance emote that can be triggered by wearing different types of clothing.

Carlton2_283085.gif

• New Emotes – We've added two new emotes, Mock and Laughing, to give you more ways to communicate with other players. Just try not to, you know, be too much of a jerk about it.

• New Clothing – Speaking of expressing yourself, we've added 12 new clothing items across various shops, and 4 DedSec clothing items. Feel free to turn your swag on accordingly.

• New Ubisoft Club Rewards (For Honor & Ghost Recon: Wildlands)– Two new outfits will be available in the Ubisoft Club, featuring designs celebrating the upcoming For Honor and Ghost Recon: Wildlands games.

• Bounty Hunter Respawn – We want to keep you in the fight a little longer. As a hunter, you'll now be able to respawn once if killed while in pursuit of a hunter. You'll respawn a safe distance away to rejoin the chase, should you choose that option.

• Narrative – Without spoiling all of the fun in the patch notes, we'll just say that if you've finished the story you should replay the last mission to watch a little extra something at the end.

PC-Specific Updates

• [Video Options] SMAA T2x – This patch adds new Post-Process Anti-Aliasing mode – SMAA T2x, improved version of SMAA with a temporal component. As SMAA T2x uses temporal techniques, it doesn't work with Temporal Filtering turned on.

• [Video Options] Dynamic Particles – This patch adds a new video option that allows you to turn off dynamic particles, like leaves and effects of bullet hits.

• [Controls Options] Camera auto-centering – This patch adds two new mouse & keyboard options that allow you to turn off camera auto-centering while driving and sprinting. Some default bindings were changed: [F9] and [F10] are now used for Mock and Laugh emotes. Song Sneak action is Uponow assigned on [Backspace], and Tutorial action is assigned on [Home].

There is much more info on the link below.
