Tekken |OT3|

I hope it's not a zzz tier guest character like Ryu. That would actually change my mind about buying the season pass, i do want those metal colors ... but not enough to start paying for a character like that.

If it's 2 characters from SF, the way I look at it is what would have the most people buying the game from that series? Akuma makes sense considering he was announced way before SFV's Akuma came out and even then T7's Akuma is the best Akuma design ever IMO, SFV's Akuma looks like worse. I think if they put 2 characters who fans want in SFV (Sakura and Sagat) it would allow more players to travel over from SFV. Ryu's dope and all but he's always a guest SF character in everything, he's also a lesser Akuma. I can see Sakura. Sagat? He's that dude. Chun's nice too but I think more would purchase Sagat and Sakura over her but she definitely has a higher chance than Ryu does IMO.

I'm just looking at it from a business standpoint. If you were Harada, Tekken Team and Bamco, what additional SF characters would people say "alright, I want T7 now let me buy those characters!" and those 2 names just top my list: Sakura and Sagat.

I would love to see Chun-Li in Tekken 7! I'm not a SF player but I really enjoy messing around with her, she's fun! Her moves would look so cool in the Tekkenverse.

Is Sayah really retiring from Tekken? Are we really gonna lose GAF's best player over some bs?

I don't know about "best." I think you and AAK are better than me. Tekken 7 looks really great and amazing but 3 years.........

Maybe I'll buy it used or something.

Random thoughts on "special characters":

- At first I thought we'd maybe see a playable version of the Devil Kazumi boss, but that now goes against the promise not to charge for what's already in the game.

- I lean against the Street Fighter theory because they would save that for TxSF. Akuma and the mechanics of Eliza are likely the most we'll get from that universe, but they may include a charge character to see how that plays out.

- With that said, one way the Tekken team could REALLY spike up the interest for T7 from fighting gamers who aren't already fans is to add one or two Street Fighter EX characters. Skullomania alone might exceed the Akuma announcement hype. Doctrine Dark would fit into the "look" of the game and he has a charge move Namco could play test for TxSF (though perhaps he has too many gadget mechanics for Tekken).

- I wonder if someone like Miharu could be considered a "special character" for inclusion. If they gave her a more unique moveset (she's a Ling clone) it could work, but some would complain she is a "classic character" since she was playable in T4 and Tag 2. Paying for Kunimitsu would be a bit controversial for the same reason.

- Another source for known "special characters" would be a Soul Calibur cross over. Maybe snag a fighter left out of the last SC release, like Zasalamel or Talim or Amy. Zasa's signature weapon is too big for Tekken, but I'd welcome someone like Talim if only because she's Filipina and can tell Josie in Tagalog to stop crying all the time.

- In the end, my guess is they'll go for some pop culture cross over characters like they did with Yoda, Darth Vader and Spawn in Soul Calibur 3/4.

I kinda hope it's somebody from another media source besides another current fight franchise.

As for buying Tekken 7 on a console, the issue for me is that I don't know if the game is getting crossplay.

If it isn't, I'll have to pay for an online subscription, if I was going to do that, I would end up having to pay over $100.

At that rate, I might as well just buy the deluxe version of PC or whatever.

But for right now it's really early and I'm just waiting for more info.

Hopefully they have teams like from WTF and it would be amazing if they had networks like Titanfall to make it easier to play against friends on GAF.

Casual tourneys would be really cool though.

If we get guest characters, then I hope it'll be Ryu and Chun-Li honestly. As they are both iconic and super cool.

With there being a lot of discussion about SFV's Season 2 characters potentially having guest characters (one of the silhouettes definitely looks like Iori), it would certainly be great if these fighting game developers did an "exchange program" or something with each other's current big fighters. It would be very cool if a KOF character made it to Tekken 7.

I'm guessing SNK is open to the idea as they lent Mai to DOA.

I'm not much for guest characters. I really just want it to be Tekken characters only cause I have no relation to other franchises.

I rather we get that zombie bride, Tekken Force soldier or Shin Kamiya than any guests. I hate that Akuma is in, but I'm happy for those who are happy about his inclusion.

Give me Namco's very own Jack Slate(DTR1&2 version only) as guest character together with his dog Shadow. Double doggy attacks like from Galford and Poppy.

Jack knows martial arts to so he'll fit.

If the special characters are from SF, then Guile will be one of them.

This image is soo good.Brilliantly designed.

I love the fact that Kaz and Hei's face are NOT lined up symmetrically. This little difference creates maximum dissonance and adds depth to the image..

I don't think I've seen this done before.Usually when this kind of design is used its symmetrical and identical on either side.

Best cover since Tekken 2, hell it's the best cover in this series.

There were full face shots somewhere, forgot where.

I don't like how Kaz's face looks in this render.

Btw in every bit featured, in game, render, artwork ect: Kaz looks like totally different person. Shit's whack.

Hmmm. Looks like the wall has a slightly rounded corner, and the rage art start-up animation pushed Leo off axis.

He already said he'd get it used. Scratch that "maybe", he will play the game and he'll like it :p

You're going to play Sayah. Just admit it. :D

I wasn't planning on buying it even used but I'm slowly changing my mind. With everything going on in the world right now especially after this first week of the Trump presidency, the Tekken 7 bullshit over the past 2.5 years seems really trivial in comparison.

IGN put up their video tour of the development offices from the Tekken project:

Not much new, but there is some Kuma vs Akuma action and some early stuff from Eliza.

Neat, that's a really nice vid.

Edit: I was worried for a moment when i spotted Christie in the background~ But it was just the Christie figure in front of the design wall, ha ha.

Lol somebody has to be neutrally realistic around here.

That is something that they would clearly state if it was in to make the PC version appealing. The PC deluxe version costs around 50 bucks, but for me it's a waste of money getting that day one since nobody plays Tekken on non-Playstation platforms over here.

Super neat video. I could watch behind the scenes stuff like this for hours.
And while I do like the Harada/Murray tag team, it's nice to see some new (at least to me) faces from the Tekken Project team.
What I would give to visit the studio and browse their archives.

Shit, actual Tekken developers instead of Trolling Harada? How many years have I waited for this? These are the people we should've been seeing from the start. Hope this is permanent thing from now on.

91 years? That's a pretty great life score. RIP.

I'm the same. I'd love behind the scenes and seeing actual devs working. I'd squeeze every last bit of info off of them, hehe. This is just a drop in the ocean. Hearing Harada, Murray and their PR spins was such a waste of time in comparison.

I think they improved it from initial trailer where it was mostly static. Nice!

I think we all could use a good distraction. Soon though, soon.

Not sure if anyone seen it, footage of the console version Kaz vs Kaz on the new stage. Think the soundtrack here is godlike. Imo though ;)
edit : i actually love the stage, I'm a fan of areas which are cut of civilization or desolate abandoned stages, don't like crowds or cheering pedestrians. This one and Mishima Dojo are my favorites in T7 now.

Love the music.

It's from the E3 2016 trailer. So good.

It's been a while since I've seen a Tekken game that doesn't take ages when people are trying to rematch. New stage also looks great.
