I think I have confidence in Wan. Conjuring 1 and 2 are easily some of the best horror films of the past few years. Up there with best of all time.

But shit, at this point I expect negative articles to start surfacing for every DC movie. It's less about the movie and more about all the damn gossip surrounding WB. It's going to be a roller coaster until release.

Didn't care much for The Conjuring movies, but the first SAW movie is burned into my retina, such an amazing ride.

Yeah Wan shouldn't disappoint so long as he does his thing. Only movies of his I didn't care for were some of the horror ones, but that's never been a genre favorite of mine.

The issue will be if WB let's him just work. The second they get hands on, I'll panic.

There was no question when Herd and Kidman were announced, but before then we didn't know which side of the family was Polynesian. When Herd was announced as Mera I assumed Atlantis would be the traditional Caucasian, and when Kidman was in talks to join, that confirmed it.

Well yeah, but Mera isn't technically an Atlantean. She's a Xebel(?) I think. So there is still a chance of a diverse Atlantis, just a white ruling family.

Isn't this what we thought of Ayer?

But personally Im a huge fan of Wan so I trust
Ayer has an up and down track record. Has a bit of his own style and tastes that aren't exactly conventional. Never a critical darling as a director, and was never into blockbusters before Suicide Squad.

Wan has all the tools and experience to make a good CBM. Probably the most well rounded director in any of these universe projects.

At this point, Aquaman has to be coming before The Flash movie right? Things seem to be moving fast for Aquaman.
If they finish the script in time and find a director. Busty speculated that the script rewrite may be to attract a bigger name director.

I predict an update may not be long from now.

We WERE set to have a Lord and Miller Flash movie... and they dropped out for scheduling reasons (Han Solo)

Easily. AM is going into production soon is it not?

At this rate, Lord and Miller might be able to circle back on Flash if it keeps running into problems lol.

I agree with this. Fast and the Furious proved that he could handle one of these productions. If his previous movies proved anything it's that he is incredibly versatile.

Really tho, I just love how he handled the Conjuring movies. It's one of the only horror movies I've ever watched where I actually cared about the characters. Usually, those kind of movies go out of their to establish just how wicked their characters are to justify killing them. That's not really the case in the Conjuring. The sequel actually took its time to establish the family and all of it worked for me.

They only did a treatment for the script though. It was the scripts by Grahame-Smith and Famuyiwa they wanted to get away from.
I know, but the reason they chose Miller and Lord for the treatment is because they wanted a specific tone and story that they could come up with. They both said so and it played into why them and WB wanted Graham-Smith to script it. With the script being rewritten from scratch by Jonny Harold, either WB or Johns/Berg decided that they want to go in a completely different tone/story than what Miller and Lord was going for.

Okay, Justin Kroll said on "Meet The Press" podcast that Matt Reeves is most likely front runner for The Batman but there other choices. Also that Toby Emmerich, the new president of WB, is behind the recent changes we've seen in recent like the Flash rewrite. All from the same source that told him that Affleck has stepped down.

Whether this is good or bad news has yet to be seen.

It should be Reeves, I want it to be Reeves, but Reeves likely means waiting until August before he's truly available. Does Warner Bros want to wait that long? Who knows.

If they can get Reeves, they can afford to wait. The whole world would rather wait for a good Batman movie than rush a bad one. We let Nolan do Inception just because we knew he would come back for Rises.

Oh yeah, that interview also seems to support people's theories that JL and WW performance decide the slate going forward.

They shouldn't waste money on Superbowl Ads, they should just blow their entire load on a set date.

The Super Bowl isn't happening, but saying they should skip it is kind of dumb. They'll never have that many eyeballs on their product at one time ever. People sit around and watch the Super Bowl ads, they don't get up and walk away. Just releasing stuff online or doing an ad blitz doesn't have the same effect, because people have to engage to see it.

However, you have to bring your A game if you're gonna do a Super Bowl spot.

Apes movies are better than Batman movies.

Come at me brah.

Lol but seriously, I love Apes movies.

Dawn is miles better than The Dark Knight Rises IMO. It's in the ballpark of The Dark Knight too. The ferry stuff just grinds that film to a halt.

I'm one of the crazies who ranks Begins as the best Nolan Batman film.

I like begins more too, the only reason on good days I could rank TDK same as Begins is because of Ledger Joker, thats it.

I dont talk about Rises, is just a blur to me.

That's just messed up... what's the point of having a DC Films division then?

Is that an official thing? I haven't seen any evidence that WB created a specific DC Films division.

And it's not uncommon for someone coming into a new leadership position (especially president of the entire company) to assess and change things. Especially if he or she feels the current way of doing things they walked into was crap.

How does it differ?

fuck if I know haha

I guess it just means they have a longer chain of execs to go through to get anything done. When it came to Marvel Studios, it seems like the buck stops at Feige. But honestly I have no idea. The fact that WB is STILL having shake ups isn't just a bad look for DC films, but for the company as a whole.

I thought these shakeup were to improve WB? These needed to happen for a while now.

Marvel Studios is a subsidiary of Disney. DCEU is just more execs in the Warner Bros structure.

From what I understand, which could be nothing.

Don't think it that simple. You would have to take into account how different WB and DIsney actually are and how the run their comic book properties.

WB and DC are more attached at the hip the Marvel is to Disney.

Marvel Studios is basically like New Line. It's Warner Bros/Disney, but it's not at the same time.
