Hunter x Hunter Chimera Ant Arc

Finally was able to finish up the arc. I wasn't expecting to get so emotional at the end. Meurem and Komugi both were such a surprising factor in this arc. I can't tell if I liked this arc or the Phantom Troupe arc better. While this one was amazing, there were definitely a few issues I had with pacing. The highs pretty much eliminate most of my complaints though. Now I just want Gon to apologize to Killua.

Finally caught up on Gundam: IBO, and I'd say it's been quite good. I actually didn't know it was still running now, so I guess I'll have to go back to watching it week by week from now on.

The whole baby thing with Mika, Atra and Kudelia is a bit too quirky and comedic in tone for me, though. Stuff such as Naze and Amida's relationship was way better than that, and even Lafter and Akihiro's was better handled (probably because Mika's almost a lifeless husk one and Atra's still a little girl, but still...).

I still find it funny that Tekkadan's still beating enemies left and right despite being outnumbered, with entire enemy formations being annihilated by a group of less than ten pilots. I'm glad the show actually focuses more on set-up and aftermath of those battles though, because frankly they often look cool but aren't all that entertaining to watch.

Folks I ain't gonna lie, even by Heybot standards this was something else.

The weirdest thing about this show is how consistently good it looks.

Interviews With Monster Girls Episode 07
This is unquestionably the worst episode of anything I've watched this year. A meandering and pointless episode that introduces new characters without giving them any real purpose. Seven episodes in the fixture continues to be delirious rambling conversations between characters that still feel the need to hammer home the point that discrimination is bad.

GAD GUARD 2

We start the show with some kickass fighting against our edgy villain(scar and all), then we have our MC know that Techo responded to HIM and we finished with some kickass fighting on a train! Bonus cool new Techo at the end! The characters remind me a little bit of Black Cat for whatever reason.

So what's his name?? LIGHTNING!

Tiger Mask W 5

The two battle royales were a good way of paralleling the separate paths Naoto and Takuma are taking to reach their goals of revenge. Cutting back and forth between them was a clever trick, even though it may have been a bit overdone.

Tiger Mask W 7

W8Toa0h.jpg

Some excellent 1970s style art and direction for the flashbacks to the original Tiger Mask.

The animation director for this episode really likes to make Miss X's breasts big, apparently. Otherwise, I continue to be impressed at how little the fights have resorted to animation shortcuts. Junichi Hayama is doing good work as action animation director; keeping dynamic motion going throughout the wrestling bouts helps make them as exciting to watch for the at-home audience as they are for the in-show audience.

Heavy Metal L-Gaim Ep 1

Interesting start to this anime, kind of of weird when the bandit had her arm cut off and then they just put it back on? What?

Not turned off by the heavy metal, actually liked how the thing Dabu was flying was able to insert itself and be the cockpit for the heavy metal. More of that please.

Good duo and the girl they picked up isnt bad either, can feel like their may be some good cast chemistry coming up.

Music is so cheesy and old, but catchy.

There's a very dark part of me that wants to suggest Bokurano to GoldCrusader.

Yea I heard of the main premise of said show, but is it supposed to be good? Because it's on Crunchyroll and I have a week off soon-ish.

------------------------------------------

Also man Good smile is on fire right now...All dem Nendoroids! My head says yes, but my wallet says no :(

It's good, but I'd be deliberately leading you into harm's way if I told you it was your normal sort of show.

Of course, half the fun is telling you what the premise is about while letting you watch the first episode and seeing how you fare from there.

But that's pretty cruel, honestly.

Dragon Dentist is good. Really glad Anime Limited picked this up for streaming and the overall approach that Studio Khara to expanding the original short works pretty well. Some of the prettiest backgrounds I've seen in an anime for awhile too. Not too sure how I feel about the direction the story is heading in though.

Cool I will had it to my plan to watch list, I can take some despair once in a while.

It's not that weird it has pacing problems considering the manga has been on hiatus a lot during that arc. Despite that you can't just cut and copy pasta the best parts as it's all building work. Togashi went for a very distinct style of storytelling, something that you rarely see in shounen magazines.

The anime ends on a perfect spot in the series.

Who cares about aqua, darkness being hated is what drives me mad. Girl knows what she wants. She needs an S.

Exactly. The gal just knows what she likes and wants. And as proven in season 2, party can barely get by without her. She is the backbone of the group.

All the konosuba main cast are trash

The good trash

This.

Aqua=Megumin >>> Darkness

Oh God no.

More proof SAO is better than Hyouka..

OH GOD NO! Dude. Come on, bro.

I mean Maid Dragon's...... episode was something I wasn't expecting, although I should have considering that Riko literally has Ahageo face everytime she touches Kanna, but it was rather boring. I wouldn't be surprised if a low amount of demis is what will ultimately halt this show in the long run.

It probably doesn't help how awkward this show is given the current climate.

KiraKira Precure A la Mode 3

Cure Gelato's transformation sequence is fucking great.

Of course she's a rocker, so there's some insert songs in here, and given the general genre of music showcased in Precure, this episode actually feels like a change of pace in music composition. I really have to give props so far with the composition for this season. Granted we're three episodes in, so lord knows when the recycling kicks in lol.

Squirrel Girl wasn't much of a factor in this episode, which is kind of disappointing. I get the feeling that this may be recurring until the intro episodes are out of the way, which speaking of which, Macaron or Chocolat won't appear next week ._.

I think next week will give us a gander of a normal non-arc specific episode to have an idea of quality, maybe. I guess it is nice that we're getting this one though since Squirrel Girl disappeared for like half the episode and had no real interaction with Aoi.

3-gatsu ep.18
Akari secretly knows what's up in Rei's life. Did they ever discuss how she knows so much? This was pretty good again; the show found its niche and has been trucking along at a good enjoyable pace for awhile now. Much better than Honey and Clover.

Monster Girls ep.7
Sakai is the bestest sensei. C'Mon Tak sensei, make this ship happen already! Weird focus of new characters this week, but actually more enjoyable as it expands on the world they are part of.

Spiritpact Episode 5 – Forever Together With You

Putting a very emotional and empowering insert song when they are taking the vow, with the flashbacks playing over actually felt really cheesy but really good. I love their ongoing relationship and these teasing scenes. I hope for more.

I would be watching right now but I've been watching with my roommates so sadly I have to wait.

As a side note, I saw a bunch of figures being announced tonight and I'm kind of upset there aren't any Gon and Killua nendoroids. I would totally buy them.

Strike the Blood or Tasogare Otome x Amnesia

Two completely different experiences. What are you in the mood for?

Strike the Blood is more of a standard ecchi, shounen show with some "OK" senpai "romance" moments, but not really, senpai.

Otome is more of a dark and mysterious SoL show with some decent romance.

The tone is completely different for the two shows though, but they were both worth the watch. If there was a gun to my head, I think I had more fun with senpai in Strike the Blood.

So, because of all of the high praise, I skipped Gundam 0083 as my next show and jumped into something different, of which I'll post my initial thoughts in gif form as my words haven't quite coalesced.

Mob Psycho 100 - Episode 1

Mob Psycho 100 - Episode 2

All I can express so far is that I'm not sold, but after the 2nd episode I'm not hating it like I did after the first. Reigen is insufferable and really drags the show down. The animation is top notch. Mob as a character isn't very interesting as of yet. In fact, no one is. That is what is making this a bit tough to get into. I would've left episode 2 still on the negative side, but I really liked the sudden turn at the end when Mob joins the Body Improvement Club. I'm going to give this another 1-2 episodes to hook me.

Watch ep 3 and decide from there as that sets the tone of the show.

as other people have already said episode 3 is when it really starts to get good. I would say the first 2 episodes kind of suck and it gets amazing from there.

Just watched "The Clockwork Prisoner" episode of Space Battleship Yamato 2199, and I pretty surprised by it. Definitely one of my favorite A.I. episodes in all of Sci-fi TV. The rest of the show has been pretty good so far, barring some dumb fanservice.

I also watched Akira, which surprised me quite a lot. The animation was amazing, especially considering how old it is, and the character design were all refreshingly - er - normal.

Unfortunately, when interested in watching a decent horror anime, I followed myanimelist's recommendation and checked out the anime Elfen Lied, which was just complete crap. fuck you, myanimelist.

edit:
how the fuck do you not like Reigen???

I remember droping it after the 2nd episode last season. But I will probably come back to and watch it, considering the response it got.

The school makes the entire student body run a marathon? How cruel!

It's a highlight of the show for sure. A simple concept that's at the core of classic science fiction, but for that very reason it was enjoyable to see it so solidly executed. You could say that about the entire show, really.

Akira is in the running for the best animated Japanese film ever. (Redline is usually thrown out as the other big contender.) A lot of care went into it. The character designs are quintessential Otomo.

Hopefully this will be a good lesson to never trust MAL recommendations.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
