NieR: Automata |OT| "I wouldn't expect too much from this game if I were you."

I don't like the "it has multiple endings/routes" as a defense to a game's length. If the routes are VERY different then yes, that's considered additional content. If it's 95% of the same game each route then it basically takes less than 10 hours to have nearly seen everything this game has to offer. That's not 25-35 hours worth of content stated in the OP. Now, there's a lot of people who loves to replay games and have no problem with this. But I think a lot of people, if not the majority, like to beat a game and then move on, unless there's substantial new content to be had. I guess the jury is still out on this one though, but from what I'm hearing so far it does not bode well for my purchase.

I admit that I'm not really following the game besides having watched a couple of trailers and gameplay footage and played the demo.

But honestly it's the first time I heard about the different paths and endings here. And even then I find the length a bit disappointing, tbh.

OK that boss? That went on for like 10 minutes longer than it needed to lmao.

It seems like this is the point where the story takes a turn, though, so consider me interested. To be continued.

Looks game my game is glitched, i don't know what i have to do

The marker is on the resistance camp, i have to repair the toolbox of the weapons trader

How long is the orignal? I've just been sent to get medicine after fighting the big thing with Kaine. Don't think I'll be bothering with multiple endings

I'd say 15-20h for Ending A.
You should at least play through Ending B. Really. You'll understand when you do it.

hmm, is it obvious when the game splits to different paths? I was just going to youtube the others

Or do you have to play them one after the other?

It was like 10-12 hours to Ending A, maybe 3-4 more to Ending B, then C and D on Youtube for me. I didn't do any side stuff after trying out the first couple of side quests, though, and I bumped the difficulty down to Easy about halfway through because I just didn't enjoy the gameplay at all.

Game is real fun so far. Traversal is amazing. 2B is very fast and movement is so smooth and responsive. Even just exploring is fun.

That's not how these games work. They aren't paths.
I don't wanna spoil it for you, but it's something only video games can do.

I'm fine with a 10 hour game, if there not as much backtracking as the first game. Nier 1 had a lot of filler and backtracking especially for side quest, it was insane.

Kazuo Hirai

I really want everyone to know how much more Titanfall 2 sold than Nioh. It was a staggering amount.
Endings A, B and
D
achieved after 21 hours on Hard mode.
G'night folks!
Would you give a impression or score after clear all?
Amazon JP already drop to 3.0/5, really hope it git gud

And yet no fucking impressions. BASTARD!

Anyway, I'll be playing this afternoon work, so I guess the lack of really impressions here doesn't matter. Looking forward to it.

I'm new to GAF. What's expected from me? Like a review, spoilers... no spoilers? Technical gameplay mechanics?

I find it to be very favourable if that's what you guys are wondering. I'm in love with the game.

How much difference is there between a playthrough A and a playthrough B though? Because Silent Hill 2 is, like, a 6-7 hours game, but i wouldn't say it's a 40 hours game, just because it's got a ton of endings.
The path to get to those endings is just what you already played with slight variations.

That's what i'd like to understand.

Not much. Couple of new sequences and cutscenes.

For paths C/D:

A lot. A WHOLE LOT.

Nothing is expected from you, we are just very thirsty of any in-detail impressions, simply because reviews are going to come out with the western release, and there's already many with the game in their hands.

Just how you felt it about the game, in details if possible.

In case you want some points to start from lol

Did you have fun with it (it seems you did)?
Was the combat system deep, do you get many options to suit your playstyle?
Are side quests the usual fetch quests, or are there some that stands out (wether for particular mechanics or story beats)?
Do you like the characters? You think the game has a great story with strong themes?
Has it reached any emotional heights that resonated with you?
Any unexpected genius moments?

The least spoilers the better of course.

Man no wonder if the game gets bad reviews , if no one told me this I will stop at the end of ending B

The original Nier and the Drakengards series did this sorta thing where multiple playthroughs were pretty damn important, and that game was a cult classic over there, so I'm curious as to why a lot of the reviewers don't realize they ain't done with the game when they get the first ending.

I suspect a lot of them are new to the Drakengard and Nier series, particularly since quite a few of the positive reviewers are people going "Do you even Nier fam?". This game did seem to get a lot more attention then the previous one did.
