NieR: Automata |OT| "I wouldn't expect too much from this game if I were you."

Answer this : is there new game + to do the B run?

Cause yeah I can see reviewers trashing this ( again ) and ignoring the c/d stuff. :/

On the other hand I'm sure Square will brief them in their press kit, and it has cool side quests...

Man no wonder if the game gets bad reviews , if no one told me this I will stop at the end of ending B

The original Nier and the Drakengards series did this sorta thing where multiple playthroughs were pretty damn important, and that game was a cult classic over there, so I'm curious as to why a lot of the reviewers don't realize they ain't done with the game when they get the first ending.

I suspect a lot of them are new to the Drakengard and Nier series, particularly since quite a few of the positive reviewers are people going "Do you even Nier fam?". This game did seem to get a lot more attention then the previous one did.

Idk, this game is clearly riding on the weird, niche success of the first NieR, so i'm sure reviewers are more aware of the presence of multiple endings
at least i hope.

I hope the game tell them it has multiple endings , but B Ending is almost the same as A Ending with added some cutscenes is a bad decision IMO , I'm gonna assume the other endings are the same with more cutscenes I mean I would do that if no one told me this

I can't speak for Nier:A, but the weight of ending A-B of nier is very significant. Few bits of extra dialogue can change a lot.

Ok you might have sold me on the game now.

Are we talking new levels, bosses etc? Or just a lot more story?

Man, what a roller coaster ride. I was so hyped for this game, then dissapointed reading the last few pages. Now, the answer to this question will decide if I make the purchase.

I would say don't listen to people here bout the length, we don't know if they were playing side quests and if you have played the first Nier or any platinum game before, you should know that to see the entire content of the game you have to replay it and it will be fun because if you enjoy platinum games, this should be the same.

People here are surprisingly obsessive over exact game length.

For me, its more the fact that folks were adamant it was a 30+ hour game without having any first hand information supporting that. Frankly, I'm down with any game length as long as it's good and cannot wait to get the NA version.

Considering people have now played this through for a bit, is it recommended to have played the original Nier game to have an idea of what's going on?

Or can I just play this game, safe in the knowledge that I can rub this Platinum Games goodness all over my face without ever having played the first game...

So, other than the challenge, is there no point in playing on Very Hard over Hard?

I understand the challenge is exactly why many would choose the former, but I'm just curious. Do enemies drop more materials/G or anything? Maybe additional costumes after completion?

Only thing I've read that if you don't restart after downloading and installing the 1.02 patch, a quest can get buggy.

When you first download the 10GB the game does start but when I press new game it goes back to main menu. I read a few pages ago it was a glitch and that you have to download the full 40-50 gb.

Oh my god you just have to use o to go further.

Are you sure you're not just pressing X? You need to press O instead, at least it's that way on the Japanese version.

But note that if the game hasn't fully downloaded, you won't be able to save anyway, so it's worth waiting for it to finish downloading.

You're essentially playing Very Hard a few hours into the game. It's way overtuned. You have to stack HP chips or get damage reduction chips to actually survive a hit, and it's pretty dumb. Or you could be perfect at dodging, but I wanted to play Hard with some mistakes here and there.
yeah, I have a chip which reduces 30% of melee damage and I still almost get one-shotted by most melee attacks from bosses. so far I like the challenge though, and dying during a boss fight isn't that annoying since there are checkpoints even during the fight itself you can continue from.

I don't like the "it has multiple endings/routes" as a defense to a game's length. If the routes are VERY different then yes, that's considered additional content. If it's 95% of the same game each route then it basically takes less than 10 hours to have nearly seen everything this game has to offer -
no, it is not the same and it does not take 10 hours to see everything.

Amazon JP already drop to 3.0/5, really hope it git gud
are people actually paying attention to amazon JP "reviews" and their scores? Even going as far as to google translate them. I mean, it might be the first time you're dealing with impressions of imported games but come the fuck on, try to be a bit sensible.

I've just been shown the final boss through recommended videos on Youtube, nice...

tommyleejones.gif

Same happened to me just now. Was probably even the same video.
Seriously, why can't people just use a title that doesn't show the name of the boss and use a thumbnail that doesn't show its face? I'm furious as hell now.

Played it for 3 hours last night and got to
The part where the robots gave "birth" to Adam/Eve
This game is everything I wanted, story is intriguing, music is beautiful, combat is fluid, and it just feels so much fun to run around the world. I really can't wait to see the rest of it

I finished the firs played the first Nier last year and came back to mention it in the Nier year's party thread. I got jumped by a few people telling me to go do the new game + "NOW". So I did and they were right. The game does sort of trick you into walking away before it's really over. Devious.

Okay... i already need help, surprisingly! I'm at the first area

City with some plants growing, moose etc.. I go to the resistance camp, i talk to the supply shop and the weapon shop... the supply shop gives me a side-quest but it doesn't work, i have all the item listed in the menu but he doesn't say anything about it... also there must be a bug because he says broken spring, but in the menu it's a broken key...

anyway, BIG PROBLEM, the weapon guy tells me that he need his tool fixed... but i can't do anything, he keep saying that and the objective marker doesn't update... what do i do exactly? Thanks.

regarding unlocking costumes and stuff, I'm not sure.
the issue is that you can change difficulty whenever you want to. so, unless you get those unlocks by finishing the game without never lowering the difficulty from Hard / Very Hard, I don't think there are any.

as far as drops, exp and money, I didn't do the math or anything like that so I might be wrong, but I really didn't notice any difference.

Did you start the game while downloading?

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Dumb question, beginning of the game:

The weapon smith guy in the resistance encampment asks me to look at his toolchest... where the hell is it?
