Zelda: Breath of the Wild assets leaking [possible spoiler material incoming]

There are going to be complaints about the world's "emptiness" regardless, even if it's getting from point A to point B on horseback, gliding, surfing or sailing.

Having sparse areas is not necessarily a bad thing. To my knowledge, doesn't BotW not have much in terms of actual map icons to spell out where quests and places of interest are? If so that's going to add a lot to a genuine sense of discovery, as few open worlds have really trusted the player to out and just find shit themselves.

Tbh i dont know any recent game which let u discover things without any help.
Skyrim showed the locations on your compass, witcher 3 showed everything on the map from the beginning and far cry just wanted you to activate the towers so your map gets updated. How does horizon handle this?

Zelda Breath of the Wild |OT[ Best/worst Zelda ever

Are we at that stage yet?

Now that I think about it, not having too much stuff on the Plateau is really good design. A lot of people are going to feel compelled to complete every part of the Plateau before they move on, and they would get really annoyed if it took them 5-6 hours before they could complete everything and actually start exploring the rest of the world. Instead, it'll only take about 2 hours to collect everything, which is still plenty of time to get acclimated with the controls and game mechanics.

Wow listening to the French podcast:

- His colleague played only 3 hours
- Full of villages (Careful, he might be talking about stables here)
- Lots of hidden caves
- Kokiri forest is huge
- Villages of "good guys", villages of "bad guys".

Wait...Kokiri forest? I mean it was quite obvious that it is in there because of the Deku tree but nice to hear the clarification about it.

It's not the first time I've suggested it, but damnit I'm going to keep beating this drum.

The only markers we saw during footage were about the main quests tutorial, how to unlock 1 shrine. But nothing about other shrines and there were kinda 3-4 on the tutorial plateau. The only item that you're forced to get is the glinder, you can skip others if you to play hard. Glinder is required to leave the zone.

That's the name he used but honestly it isn't clear if he's just extrapolating or not. Maybe he's just telling there's a huge forest in the game.
When he talks about "caves" maybe he means "shrines", "villages" instead of "stables" and so on. Take all of that with a grain of salt.

A Link From the Past is good, but I am also fond of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT| The Adventure of Link Link

It's not a podcast, it's just Ken Bogard rambling on his Pokémon stream. He spoke to the guy who reviews the game at jeuxvideo.com (Anagund) and the feeling seems to be positive. But I wouldn't read too much into it.

Sure you could be right and I take that all with a grain of salt. But why should he name EVERYTHING different? :D
Ah well...tomorrow we will know more.

Searching through reddit, there seems to be some impressions from french journalists:

- All we've seen and played through demos until now is 1% of the map
- He then said that BOTW's map is about twice the size of Skyrim's world
- Zelda's world is filled with mini-dungeons, villages, life, and all sort of things. Doesn't feel - empty at all at any time, nothing like what we have seen in the gameplay. He complains that - the demo is the emptiest area in the game.
- Village types include villages of thieves, gentle farmers, etc
- The sounds are amazing and respond really to the environment and feels really immersive

source: https://www.reddit.com/r/zelda/comments/5vmrv9/breath_of_the_wild_first_impressions_from_some/

he is relying discussion with a friend reviewer

some free translation on the go listening to him (sorry if not great English) :
- zelda on tv will look disappointing after horizon (ho really! ) but on switch screen it's holala to sum up.
- talk about size of map (1%, ~2x skyrim) and how huge it is. filled with a lot, a lot, a lot (he insists) village, pngs, dungeons , life and stuffs.(you get the feel a lot time as been spend on it). He insists what they showed was empty but it's in fact filled with lot of things to do, good and evils villages (lol) , hidden caverns ect...talks about horses outpost (sorry for translation here)
- this is based on three hour gameplay (exploration)
- he is personally not interesting in zelda or open world but he find it beautiful (understand colorfull)
- talks about gameplay and how it controls. how buttons are mapped etc ... and how it find this better than items map on button in old entries. he really likes that there is now a jump button and more control on how you use it in fight with dodge etc...
- talks about witcher 3 combat not being the big thing in it but don't want to speak about a game he haven't played.
- again talks about the map size (not as big as witcher 3)
- he is hyped by the switch
- performance report : no problem 30 fps (will need more feedback)
- talks about psvita and what it does to power it the first time (apparently switch screen does the same)
- says vita was 300 euros at release

seems about it for switch/zelda

Anyone hyped for this game, predict which geographical location and Hyrulian races that won't be in BotW. I haven't played Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess at all, or Wind Waker in depth to know what creative assets now populate the Zelda mythos.

It's not the first time I've suggested it, but damnit I'm going to keep beating this drum.

From this image, got from a site that failed to respect the embargo... some interesting screenshots. We can see that hyrule castle is indeed a dungeon and the map is different, and many many many other things.

HOLY SHIT DUDEs

A few of those screens look like Link has the iconic hat/possibly tunic, but they are so tiny and blurry I just can't be sure. Could just be one of the hoods.
