Seriously! Chris' friend stole the damn movie. That scene when he was on the phone with the bitch was the highlight of the damn movie. When he put her on mute, the entire theater fucking lost it. That movie is ultimately an exercise in catharsis.

But I wonder how that movie plays with certain audiences.

Anyone that was uncomfortable with the movie is exactly who needs to be confronted by it.

I love how when Chris gets free he just handles business, no bullshit

Also I think the older white people in the audience weren't sure when to laugh lol

When Chris got free and went to town I wanted to jump on my fucking seat!

I honestly was expecting a twist it was in his head
Like the last challenge.

Glad to they changed some stuff from the script I read.

Chris getting out instead of being arrested is a much better ending. Not only that, but not killing off the girlfriend as soon as they do in the script is a great move.

Saw it at an Alamo Drafthouse and when people started screaming in the third act, nobody had a problem with it.

I swear I thought it was going to turn in this direction. One last kick in the balls to close it. I'm really fucking happy they didn't take that route.

Cotton in the ears was great. But why take it out? I guess spatial awareness? Other than that... really enjoyed it! Super cathartic ending like everyone was saying. Glad he got his revenge and extremely viscerally as well. All very well acted and enjoyed his friend for the comic relief.

I thought that he was gonna get arrested or killed by the cop they met earlier and I felt so relieved when his friend appeared. Sure it would have provided some deep commentary if they stuck with the original but I also wanted Chris to get out alive.

I still hadn't put it together when she told grandpa to get him. Or how grandpa was out running at night. But i agree with the catharsis angle. It was so quick and exhilarating.

I wonder what happened to the brother's weird helmet thing that was seen in the trailer and on the poster in the OP. I saw Chris toss it down from the seat after he flees the house, seems like some stuff was cut?

What were the deviations from the earlier script floating around? GF gets killed in the house and cops shoot Chris or something?

The part in the trailer where Chris encounters the deer skeleton was also cut.

Yup, noticed that too. And does the TSA guy say something like "apparently a whole bunch of brothers went missing in this suburb," in the film?

Ya know, it's just an awful trailer. I feel like the studio screwed Peele because he's a first time director. I am a firm believer in the "only make a trailer from scenes from the first third of a film" philosophy.

In the OT one poster laid out the whole plot and people were still saying "no, the film's not like that at all." I mean, come on, it was spot on, lol.

The movie is still good without those scenes. I don't think it was a studio decision.

I mean a studio decision to make such a spoilery trailer? Most directors don't have any input when it comes to that.

The movie probably didn't suffer from cutting the scenes, I just wonder if there was more going on. It feels odd Chris knocking down the helmet off the driver's seat. Like it was an important object, as if it was established more or was foreshadowing something. The MMA stuff with the brother, Chris' nervous scratching, the mother's tea ritual, the camera flashes, there was so much in the film that was emphasized for later payoff, it kinda leaves me to believe that the helmet thing was supposed to have another connection somewhere.

Lol the ending is so good when the cop car pulls up and then all the dread is gone when its his TSA bro

The GF was still alive and the gun was still on the ground, and neither of them were looking forward, I was expecting the TSA guy to get shot through the windshield right then. The scene was going on waaaay too long, it was great.

I thought the TSA dude was going to say f it we have to be sure and run her over haha.

Also how much did Microsoft pay for placement? Where did they even find a Windows phone from, a trash pile next to the ET carts?! The Bing scene was hilarious/disturbing though

One of the trailers had the kid in the helmet. It's clearly what his method was to kidnap black people, like the one guy said, you're lucky it was her and not him since he got the guy in the beginning.

The stuff with the brother was more important in the script I read, where he's the last one left and chasing down Chris with grandma and grandpa. It's been a while since I read it, but I recall Rose being choked to death by Chris after he kills the dad.

This movie was unexpectedly good! I thought this was going to be some type of parody movie about a black guy dating a white girl just from the trailer. Boyyyy was I wrong! That fucking ending when you see the red and blue lights.... I knew it was over until I seen "airport".

Was it not the opening sequence for you?

Like at the end thought it was just a callback to confirm the brother was the one abducting black folks on the street.

Just got home, liked it a lot.

The cop car at the end was just brilliant with how it played with the audience's expectations. They set it up so well in the beginning too.

On top of that, I love that he didn't go for the cheap horror ending of either "thank god we got out of that" and his friend getting shot by a still-alive Allison Williams, or the "allude to something sinister after they get away" ending.

Just got out holy shit this movie was amazing.

The movie had a great start with Andre getting some horror tropes out in a comedic way but still keeping the tone of the movie.
The way Chris, Rose, and Rod interact feels genuine having their own little inside jokes and making the characters feel real. The scene with the cop felt a bit unnecessary but I guess it helped move suspicion away from Rose being a part of whatever was to come.
When the housekeeper and groundskeeper come in it's great as they're both come of creepy and completely out of place keeping you guessing on why they act like that till the movie introduces hypnotism that's when the movie really starts kicking in.
When you learn about Chris and how his mom died it made the scene with the deer make more sense cause I wondered why would you go look at the deer if this was just a simple jump scare but when Rose's mom starts the hypnotism with the sounds of her spoon running on along the inside of her tea cup everything starts clicking.
I liked the subtleties of the housekeeper she had you thinking your hypnotized what are you hiding behind that smile but she throws you off because she's constantly looking at herself in the mirror making you question everything about her.
I don't have anything to say about Jeremy he was just a henchman character.
The dinner party was great when they dropped hints about what's to come by passing it off as white people like black people and their cultural influence.
When Chris and Rose are talking by the lake and further cementing Rose as the loving girlfriend the following scene where Chris finds multiple photos of Rose with different black men made the entire audience gasp. When she faked not being able to find her keys (it was at this point that many comments were said aloud somewhere along the lines of "you fucking bitch" and continued through the rest of the film.) and the mom puts him into a hypnotic state was great and when everything is revealed is great.
This is where Rod comes in and once again steals the show again I feel it's hard to explain because it I can't word it to where I want to make you say holy shit that sounds hilarious I'm definitely checking this out.
The parts when Chris is strapped in the chair and everything comes full circle is amazing his expressions through those scenes pulled you in even more and finally at the edge of your seat of what's gonna happen next BOOM! sweet satisfaction the way everyone gets killed multiple kicks to the head, antlers to the chest, stabbed, and shot.
When it's revealed that the groundskeeper and housekeeper are Rose's grandparents was something I didn't expect but should have seen coming and how they both died is great as well.
Overall this is a great movie and would recommend it to anyone.

Ten framed pictures of black guys turned into sex slaves out of ten.

My theaters audience was awesome.
When the groundskeeper/Grandpa shot Rose the entire audience clapped it was surreal and then when the cop showed up and Rose said help me the hate for her was real as you could hear people and myself included saying "this fucking bitch" only to have Rod pop out and say I told you not to go had the entire audience go nuts was an amazing experience that I don't think I'll ever experience again.

The two black servants were brain transplants of the Grandmother and Grandfather, why did they want to live their lives as servants of the family?

Also, you're telling me that Alison Williams got a black woman to come to her parents house, when I saw that picture that really spooked me because it illustrated her acts in deception and manipulation going across both genders.

She could have just been kidnapped like the man in the intro. I had the same thought as well, I'd be fine with either explanation.

That was their home. They probably didn't want to leave.
Also could have been a way to get closer to their victims since they are black as well (on the outside.) For example, the unplugged phone and wood chopping scenes.

Seriously. I was internally screaming that the movie better not pull a Night of the Living Dead ending

Acting like servants? That was the one bit I didn't get. If their transporting themselves into black people, they seem to barely be functional afterwards and need someone to look after them.

I get why they don't leave the home, after a single flash made that one dude freak. But, I sort of expected the process to be more complete.

Crowd went nuts at that scene. The hate was so real. Good casting with Alison Williams.

I think they were servants in just the times they're hosting their next victim. To make things look normal, well, aside from a white family having a black house keeper and lawn care guy.
