I think a lot of people listen to the music and tune out the artist and tune in, anecdotes, stories and people from their own life. I think the reason why sentimental break-up heartache Drake songs work so well, is that people imagine their own relationships and sadness. They don't care about Drake. People interpretate the music internally.
