I still don't see the benefit of this unless you have a friend on PC and you're on Xbox and wanna share games.
The title will also be available for Project Scorpio following the console's launch this holiday season.

This pleases me. I recently got an XB1 on the cheap and like that I can play on the tv when wife isn't around and then hop on PC when she's watching Greys Anatomy or something
As long as it isn't WS exclusive.
Available August 22, 2017 on Xbox One, Project Scorpio, Windows 10 PC (Windows Store and Steam), PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®4 Pro.

Sony will have Star Wars and CoD, so there is likely MS will have AC and this one.Good deal, if I didn't already have a PS4 Pro I would be all over this. I assume MS has the marketing deal then?
I don't benefit from Play anywhere whatsover but it does benefit me as a future Scorpio owner.I still don't see the benefit of this unless you have a friend on PC and you're on Xbox and wanna share games.

I thought this was a pretty big deal. I can't believe third parties are actually starting to hop aboard the Play Anywhere bandwagon.
I mostly buy games that have multiplayer or games that I play simultaneously with a group of friends in a party (ie. Stardew Valley). My fiancée and I each have our own Xbox Ones, so with game sharing I only need to buy 1 digital copy to get 2 copies for the house. So unless I can get physical for considerably cheaper than half price, it's just not worth it for me.
Is this a joke? All I see are comments about steam version and whether there is one and somehow you jumped to sonygaf?Wow.. The salt and hate towards MS is clear as day in this thread.
No wonder people call this place SonyGaf

I can buy a game on the Xbox (or PC) and can choose to play on either (or both) the console or my PC while my progress carries across to both.I still don't see the benefit of this unless you have a friend on PC and you're on Xbox and wanna share games.
So, do you think Devs were making vita and PS3/4 cross buy games for free? This is what is happening.

Scorpio

Scorpio launch titles already being announced. nice.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War™ will be available for Xbox One, Project Scorpio, Windows 10 PC (Windows Store and Steam™, PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®4 Pro August 25, 2017. Middle-earth: Shadow of War™ will be available as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
Remember when MS partnered with a bunch of publishers to get PC games to use GFWL?
At least here there is still a proper PC version happening.
I doubt MS are paying in terms of cash, it's far more likely that they are marketing the Xbox One version (which will sell), but in return requiring an UWA version (which will not sell), and the publisher is agreeing because MS's marketing will also help the PS4/Steam version (which will also sell).
They don't need to use the feature now. But remember play anywhere also means newer more powerful xboxes than even Scorpio, and these titles are guaranteed to run at ultra 60fps eventually even on a console.I wonder the % of people that actually use this feature extensively. But hey, still neat.
You're arguing semantics. Did we not have threads leading up to the PS4Pro launch detailing Pro enhanced games? Do we still update them regularly? The entire Xbox One library already exists. MS have specifically said there will be no Scorpio exclusive games.

What do you mean by "ultra"? It's not like the console version will use PC graphics settings in Play Anywere titles...

Excellent news.
The road to 100% of the Xbone library being xpa begins!
And it will be a fun ride

I mean that even if Scorpio isn't powerful enough some future Xbox will and XPA ensures that console will be able to enjoy everything the game has to offer. What do you mean by "ultra"? It's not like the console version will use PC graphics settings in Play Anywere titles...
I guess that Resident Evil 7 XPA paid off? It's great to hear more and more 3rd party games (from different publishers) getting on board
...?Anyone stating Microsoft is payong for this is making it up as there isn't any proof anywhere of Microsoft doing so for any of the games released as play anywhere or coming out in the future.
Considering it is already being made for PC for release on steam, there isn't really any extra work for the developers to do to bring it to the windows store. It's still a PC game, just packaged as UWP for distribution in the Windows store.
Nope. There are people in this very thread stating that MS are paying publishers to make UWP games.
? It paid off in the sense that MS paid them to do this. Publishers are not giving free PC versions to XB1 game owners randomly.
