Yes! Precure 5 17

Family threatened, heart broken, dragged into the Precure stuff rather unwillingly. Rin's probably had the worst of everything so far. Most everyone else has just had their feelings hurt a little bit.

Real talk, I don't think this season of Rakugo is good as the first one. It's not bad, mind you, but I feel like the best parts were the one that directly referenced/showed the first season.

S1 was just too good and unique, Yota and Konatsu are not bad characters, but they just don't have the same charm and complexity as Sukeroku/Kiku/Miyokichi.

Oh, so that's how the S4 Selection Test actually works. The current head does compete, even if she is a third year, but the top scoring non-graduating idol actually gets the position. That makes sense, and from there it's clear how this round will go. Yuzu dominates of course with no competition. She is now the default Queen of Four Stars. They might be in trouble. As for Theater,
the obvious happens. Ako takes second by virtue of there being no competition aside from Tsubasa herself. You'd think she's show a little more excitement when she got her score, because she just locked herself into S4 at that moment. Sure she couldn't beat Tsubasa (because of course she wasn't going to, even ignoring Ako not having a special dress she's still far below Tsubasa), but she still managed the incredible feat of getting S4 on her first try. That's something she should be proud of. I think this is Tsubasa's first victory in the entire show. Hopefully Ako turns around Theater's fortunes. Two Pop idols in S4 is going to be fun.

Next up, Beauty. We're probably going to get the obvious solution, but I'm open to surprises. Hime is practically a demigod, so Mahiru beating her sister seems to be the best chance anyone has at beating a current S4 member. Mahiru certainly has an uphill battle in front of her.

see for me I'm enjoying this season more. I love the weird and sweet romance subplot, the son is great, and I like the modern setting of this 'out of place' method of entertainment. Seriously, it's like stand up and story telling depending on the person.

S1 I watched it as more of a period piece than I wanted. And there weren't as many characters that I liked like in this season.

Not to mention the least favorite precure consistently in polls.

I just like the fact they are both different. The story advances inexorably and it wouldn't make sense for the second season to be a repeat of the first one.

wait why? She's endearing and has a personality

unless that's the problem.

Well I mean you still have more of the show, but part of it I believe was because she was another tomboy character, and Splash Star's previous main 2 got sacked for being "imitations" of Nagisa and Honoka, so I think that plays a part of it.

The other part, she's also a stick in the mud, and occasionally, a bit of a cunt :/.

First part makes sense if the character doesn't manage to distinguish herself which I suspect is a symptom of a large franchise cast like this.

Well I mean she'll have something to distinguish herself from the rest, or rather, it's something she doesn't have that makes her distinguished from everyone in the cast

I'm a bit late to this, but according to Discotek's Facebook, they've licensed both GoShogun and the theatrical sequel, Time Etranger. GoShogun will release on DVD sometime this year, while Time Etranger will get a DVD and Blu-ray release in June.

Also, they're finally releasing SeHa Girls on May 30th.

I made the mistake and ordered Japanese version of Samurai Pizza Cats from Amazon instead of their site. Did not receive the replacement DVD for a sub desync in one episode.
Also learned that every first and last episode of the DVDs had blending issues. Fortunately a DVD ripper corrected it and included also the replaced episode

Beyblade Episode 29

Was going to complain about the episode but realized we're almost 30 episodes in, I guess having a recap to show how everyone got together was nice.

Kai has warmed up to Tyson so well after they hooked up.

Futari wa Milky Holmes 1

Heard bad stuff about this but unsure how much of that is from it not being more of the same. Alice & Kazumi both showed up in the recent Christmas special so I'm assuming some degree of continuity. Looks like it's playing the concept straight which is fine if it's from the outsider's perspective as I'm a big fan of exploring settings and hope to see that done here. Also it's 12 minute eps so should be painless.

That's exactly the issue with Futari Wa. It doesn't even try to be a comedy. On the other hand, it also avoids making the plotlines that it sets up actually get too dramatic, so it's not like it takes the setting in a darker direction by grounding it. In several ways, it just feels like a lot of nothing. If it weren't part of the Milky Holmes franchise, it'd be completely forgotten.

This makes me sad, because Rin is my favorite Precure easily. Why no one care for best snarker?

Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans S2 21

Props to Julietta for holding Mika off and surviving. She always was a scrapper. I kind of liked Isurugi even though there was nothing to him.But yeah, overall a rout in favor of Rustal. Now McGillis needs to pretend he has some sort of grand plan to still win when at this point he's just hoping Tekkadan pulls another miracle out of their ass. Not surprised Julietta isn't going to cyborg herself. Didn't feel like her arc would go that way. So Shino did realize what Yamagi felt after all. Maybe he wasn't quite a dunce after all. Good on Akihiro for reassuring that one kid that it's better that he lived. Did Mika and Atra actually do it? Because it certainly feels that way.

That's disappointing. I haven't had any problems with the Discotek releases that I've gotten, but getting bad discs is always a frustrating experience. I'm glad you found a way around it, at least.

Speaking of Discotek, my BDs of Kyousougiga and 5cm per Second are finally going to ship on Wednesday. Amazon.ca always seems to get me their stuff a bit late.

Interesting but expected to a degree. How'd that fourth season work out?

Out of the blue perhaps but I've been seeing a lot of Kanna artwork and gifs from Maid Dragon lately, mostly things that show her as a cute innocent child analogous to Renge-chan from Non Non Biyori. The show's attempts in portraying that side of her are very neat at times but I really feel it's not really as compelling as it's supposed to be. During the first couple of episodes we see her go head to head against Tohru even if playfully, it was bloody intense and later on, she manages to outwit Saikawa by crying when she attempts to bully her - these moments(particularly the latter) give the impression that she can handle herself quite well and when she's suddenly shown as a helpless little child, I just can't buy it. Has anyone else felt the same?

On Kemono Friends: it's really amusing to see the show introduce new anthropomorphized animals, usually a creature you've heard or seen or have some semblance of an understanding of its behavior, only through a different lens: the contrast of having human-like aspects. Different friends have different specialties but more than that, they have unique personalities, often land an impression. Episode 6 ended with a major revelation(in perspective of the show's characters), Kaban-chan is actually a human, somehow something we already perceived but when we further listen about how humans are from Shoebill(Episode 7) it really felt like show flipped a mirror towards the viewer. That was honestly, a surreal(perhaps even proud) moment for me keeping in mind how it handles every animal-person it introduces.

"Humans come up with strange ideas and are supposed to be very clever"

"Hey! that's me!"

Silly, as it might seem, I just wanted to share this bit

Some of the mutant powers don't work out well in live action medium but thankfully that's not until majority of the film passes by. Certain aspects of the story although secondary could've been better written, otherwise a really good experience. I can recommend.

Berseria references still going on, and I'm still waiting to see the payoff from it. Pretty chill episode overall though, just setting up for the final fight. Really interested as to where this is going from now on.

Them just skipping over Eizen was kind of sad though.

Heavy Metal L-Gaim Episode 10

The writer still just loves putting random tiny silly moments in lots of scenes. I end up chuckling a lot with Daba, Lillith, Laccee, and Kyao. For examine when they were infiltrating the military camp and they were going through that whole process, Laccee just loves toying with Kyao so much, or then when Daba touched Kyao and he fell over, lol.

KiraKira Precure À La Mode 5

I think Yukari is the second high school Cure in the entire franchise. Moonlight finally has a buddy. She's the beloved pretty and pretty type that gets everyone aroused by her mere presence. But there's something else to her that we've not seen yet. Not sure what it is, but it's definitely there. She seems to be bored with everything and wants something to spice her life up, which is why she took Ichika along. But I can't get a good feel for her. However, there's one thing she isn't a master at. Cooking. Or maybe she just sucks at macarons. Until we confirm, this patisserie group still has barely one cook among them. Macaron is a cat. Isn't Gelato already a lion? Talk about overlap. She's got claws and can weaponize her chin stroke. I think I like her overall. Final member comes next week, and I'm curious as to what direction they're going to take Ichika's crush.

The movie preview only showed Whip, Custard, and Gelato among the current cast. Hopefully that's just selective editing.

Piacevole Episode 6 – Chef

Why do restaurant anime like to have violent fem leads, first working and now Marino who punches wall and maybe even people, I cant. Maro was wonderful this episode.

Pretty good introduction that I'm sure Cure Chocolat will top. No doubt with a smoldering glare at the monster of the week, a stern husky voiced admonition, and victory obtained as the monster immediately swoons from being talked down to.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Season 1 (Subtitled) Episode 51 – Millennium Puzzle in Pieces

I think the millennium puzzle would have been able to survive a fire, it survived 3000 years after all. The Millennium ring is able to return magically to Bakura too, so the puzzle could have came back to Yugi. Useless risk for him and Honda and Jonouchi :(

The hardest part is just keeping the names straight, not getting tongue twisted and biting your tongue like Juudai.

Also I love Juuda's online handle, Gotcha-man.

Season 4 keeps Futari Wa's director, but goes back to a larger comedic focus, although there's also a serious plot line set up from the beginning. Some jokes work, but many others not so much. In spite of the comedic focus, it often seems to avoid some of the grosser humor (like how Twenty is completely censored) or even derforming the designs in a way that makes them uncute.

Before the movie, I did prefer season 4's ending as an ending to the franchise than season 2's finale though, but the season overall was often weak, although it had a couple of bright spots.

Man, this ep (at least) has Milky Holmes being viewed through this lens of hero worship kinda like how the Feral Kid saw Mad Max in The Road Warrior but Milky Homes are still a bunch of shitheads so that's good.

Leashing Twenty makes S4 sound good already.

Princess Precure - Ep. 29-32
Lock was quite impressive for a random henchman villain. The fight was pretty cool as well.
In any case: The King is dead, long live the Queen!

Close is back from dead as well and apperently he is a badass now. Although, it looks like his personality has changed.
Stop and freeze are pretty cool as well ,or as I like to call them: Evil Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny.
Interestingly enough it seems that the monster of the week attacks are just distractions while Close plans his next big move.

At this point I feel a bit sorry for shut. I wonder if he will get more screentime soon( similar to the stuff Close and Lock got).

Episodes 32 was a about rich guy hitting on Minami.
Pretty funny stuff, because that guys was such a wuss. I wonder if he will show up again.

After sleeping on it, I decided to watch the entirety of the Endless 8. Fuck it.
You made the right decision. Once you have seen the movie, you will understand why Endless 8 is worth watching.

I'm a few episodes behind but reading that there are still Berseria references does the opposite from making me want to continue :/
I haven't played Berseria yet but know that I will sometime, so having to be constantly on the lookout for possible spoilers in a fucking anime about a different game is annoying to say the least.

I've watched season 2 of Haruhi maybe four times in my life and besides when it was going on weekly I've always watched endless eight in one go. It's a fun experience.

Is it true that the Voice Actors, both JP and EN, re-recorded their lines for each episode? Because between that KyoAni literally animated scenes from different shots is pretty impressive.

I'm on Episode 5 now.

Ok, I'll admit, this is a pretty good mental experiment on Deja Vu. Like, I'm literally watching these episodes back to back trying to spot the inconsistencies. Like, am I going crazy are do they occasionally wear different outfits than they did in previous iterations?

Yes, there are many line changes outside of just incrementing the number of days up. Lots of really subtle ones early that get more and more unhinged as the deja vu wears down on the cast.
