This is fantastic. One of the best posts I've seen on Neogaf

Putting a hole in the arena for that Umi-Boze (?) fight is fucking MEAN!

Still, once I managed to avoid that and his laser beam of death it's an easy enough fight.

I feel like the OT has slowed down, has everyone finished it or just moved on to Horizon/Zelda?

Anyways - I'm somewhat stuck on the
Giant Centipede
, had a couple of goes, but I only have 3 elixirs which just doesn't feel enough, so now I have to farm some.

The game still really feels like a Souls game, I don't know how anyone would think otherwise. The addition of loot is pretty cool as is the extra combat moves.

Yeah i think most that have purchased already are done or close to it. Maybe waiting on dlc. Theyll be another rush then or if theres a big sale. For
centipede
you can use the pillar in the back right from when you enter. Up on the second level. Create some distance so you can regroup and
chop tail if it reattaches.

Many that bought the game on launch have probably finished and moved on to other games until the big Nioh patches and DLC drops, but I just get new games at my own pace, and play what I have until I'm almost at the point of being burnt out. :)

Make sure you try to find all the kodama you can, so you can carry more elixirs, and play with the healer blessing on for extra elixir drops. There is also a ninjutsu skill that let's you carry more elixir. Very helpful.

If you want a boss tip,
honestly just block its pincer attack. The thing will just stand up and shoot poison at you. You can just dodge that, then whack the boss. You can just repeat that. Blocking is actually fairly useful in this game.

I have been trying to mix up my fighting style but i end up doing bosses and tougher enemies with my sword mid stance. Its fun and goes well but i feel im missing out on the fun. But its hard to change when things are going well..

Maybe later in the game it gets harder?

Mid stance is the vanilla flavor of stances :p Good for blocking and parries but not optimal for damage or movement. The best fun I have with sword is switching between low-high-sheath stance.

You can play the whole game in mid if you like, but there might be fights where it takes longer than it should lol.

I've gotten both Ninjutsu and Onmyou Mystic arts so it's finally time to respec....Only, I'm completely paralyzed by choice. The only think I know for sure is I want to make a magic samurai build so-

Dex 5
Magic 40
Spirit 25

Is guaranteed. Everything else though... I have no idea. I like using Spears/Sword/Dual so that's Body-Heart-Skill, but my armor choices are all over the map and I've been mixing and matching them throughout the game so Strength-Stamina might be necessary, although I'm favoring medium armor. I've been starring at the wiki stat bonus page forever and I can't decide on a set yet.

Anyone else have similar build?

Yep that's what I'm doing - i'm running around the pillar and then doubling back and attacking it. Sometimes I'm getting hit by the pincer attack though. Getting behind pillars is a great strategy in this game. >.<

It's the first stage in region 2, so the kodama has reset and that's why I've only got 3 each time I'm back at the shrine. I'm going to try and farm some and see if I can hold more.

Yep I saw a video to just block the pincer attack, so I'm trying to do that too.

It has been said here many times before...but why oh why do the twilight missions have to be on a cycle?!!! One stupid mission left for my platinum.

:(

Game is easily one of the best this generation yet.

All I need for the platinum is that blacksmith trophy (at 33/60), but I will continue that grind when the DLC hits. Nioh will 100% be in my GOTY list, but now it is time for me to move onto Horizon full time (adoring it so far) before Neir, then Mass Effect, then Persona 5. I hope the DLC hits in May or June^^

Question: Are the debuffs from the omnyo talismans (like deinvigorate and lifeseal) permanent or do they only last for as long as the icons indicate they do? And do the effects stack?

Jesus fuck my mental map is pretty screwed up in (Last Region map)
Sawayama castle, I'm flipped up and turned upside down.
And to make things worse- I still have one more Kodama to find =_=

Only as long as the icon.

By stack do you mean multiple debuffs happening at the same time? then yes.

If you mean casting the same debuff to compound the effects then no, it would reset the timer.

How do you activate NG, I beat the final boss and unlocked mark of the strong, is that NG?

Yes.

I'm a little late in replying but you can always summon if it's something you're not able to solo. I'm usually helping randoms for an hour or so after finishing an area, so I'd be up to help you too.

That's true! I'm going to try that tonight.

I'm too used to playing Dark Souls by myself because I get walloped when other players enter the game.

I'm not frustrated really by the game, I've been fine so far. I think the hardest fight has been
Hino Enma
and that was a fair fight once you get her patterns down.
Giant Centipede
doesn't seem as hard.

Yeah, I don't summon coz I'm just stubborn, so I can relate but Centipede is probably the easiest boss in the game, at least till region 4. Just block his attack then dodge his spits in between hit and runs.

The second one. Thanks!

I guess it would be overkill if you could just stack he same effects all at once.

fight was such bullshit. When will developers learn that primarily melee combat and huge enemies don't mix when you can't even hit them most of the time with your moveset?

I just have one trophy left for platinum which is gathering all the best materials. Only missing two but havent stressed about it as they should be simple to get. I gotta give the game credit for not having much grinding or time consuming trophies. Even the one where you collect dung doesnt require grind because you collect dungs on other levels and by new game plus you will have enough.

Probably said it a million times but they should fix the twillight system as I am missing levels and never get the chance to play the last two regions in twillight mode.

I can agree its a terrible fight but you can use projectiles and bombs on them too effectively.

Got the plat after 82 hours with this. Time to trade it in for Sniper Elite 4. It was a wild ride and will take some beating for my GOTY.

Yeah it seems like people devoured the game and then moved on. Me, I'm still playing. Just got to region five and unlocked the sword mystic art. No way I am going to rush this game. Just taking my time and enjoying the best video game combat ever in an action RPG and soaking up the Japanese setting. Really this game is just amazing to me.

Speaking of magic build- I might have made a slight mistake going full all 5 elemental buffs, and not having enough skill points for other kinds of buff.... Barely squeezing out 4 Kekkai talisman.

Also the down side of a magic build I guess is not having enough Samurai points to buy enough abilities for 3 weapon classes.

I'm still inching my way throught this game, in the middle of region 3.
the side mission with the tough demon on the bridge was great. I love the addition of the minions at the halfway health point. It wasn't annoying, just a really good way to shake up the battle once you had his pattern down. Felt like a cool samurai duel. I don't think I've ever seen so many revenants in one place.

Does the cost to respec ever go up? I'm thinking of doing it since I've been mainly using Sword and Kusarigama as opposed to my initial choice of dual and kusaris.

Can someone explain to me how I get my weapon to 160+10?

I have a 150+7 at the moment.

So when I'm able to get a 160 weapon and soul match it, will it turn from 150+7 to 160+0?

Cost to buy the book goes up every time you buy one (from blacksmith for gold and tree house for glory). It caps eventually but it gets super expensive.

Am I the only one who actually really enjoyed the story and the characters of this game ? lol
Not saying it's great or anything but the story in general gave me nostalgic PS2-era action game vibes and the classic anime-like melodrama and cheese was charming (it helped that the music was great).

Anyway, I'm personally really stoked to see the continuation of the story with [ending spoilers]
William returning to Japan
in the DLC.

Just finished The Ocean Roars again. Monotonous look aside, this was by far the most exciting map so far. The warding bonfire component added an interesting layer to the level.

Yeah, I'm just trying to push into NG+ and ignoring blacksmithing in NG. I get upgrades from revenants lol. Everyone wears the red demon set, so constant chances at higher level pieces.

Once I'm into NG+ I'll focus on crafting/builds.

I'm not into trophies, but I guess all I need to do are the final twilight missions, and spend tons of gold for the requests. Not sure it's worth the grind, but this game is so damn amazingly fun.

Been quite addicted to this, in NG+. So many Red Demon armor sets lol, but at least it is a lot of fodder for disassembling to Divine material. I give kudos to those who didn't wear it at this point.

Mixed armor will give to primarily Kaido or Obsidian for my axe focus but haven't gotten smithing to drop yet for those. Been forging some greens, but have only so far made a couple of +2, a great multi-faceted Axe of Judgment and a Holy Axe with fire, very nice against NG+
Umi Bozu
.

Got to region 5 and the game has definitely leveled off. Enemy variation, location design, memorable bosses etc.

Still on of the best games I've played in a long while.

Sword wielders are lucky; getting a whole set of swords with built-in innate elementals of every type.

Axe users, on the other hand, are only guaranteed earth from Mononobe (which I still need to find a consistent place to farm) and lightning from Kaido.

I always read that people have so many extra samurai skill points, but I feel that's not the case with me. I have all the weapon proficiency levels to at least 500k for each type, do you gain more beyond that? Maybe I missed a bunch of samurai locks.

Is the yasakani magatama that reduces set bonus requirements a very rare item I noticed some were grinding for a while back? I just got one, and honestly don't even have the 9 magic to use it, heh.
