Cemu Thread: Emulating Wii U Games

"D"

I'm extremely insecure with how much f2p mobile games are encroaching on Nintendo
Is there any pics of the game running on just a 1080P monitor? I don't have a 4K one yet..I need to see what I'm gonna be getting into once its fully playable

Just wondering on a related note, as I just downloaded Cemu; is there anyway to get the homebrew channel onto your WiiU without using an SD card?

Nope. I just did it myself using some super old 1gb card, though.

So any old one lying around will do the trick luckily. You will need a bigger SD card or usb hdd to dump the games, though

It downsamples anyway so you don't need a 4k monitor for it to look amazing.

oh god, they better be using that 15k a month to pay for some more help. thats a handsome full time wage for each of them. that number will only keep going up, too. with all that money will come some enormous expectations

These people are getting FUCKING PAID goddamn. I actually wonder what's gonna happen when people find out it's less than playable at the moment.

I guess they already know what to expect when donating to the project, but hey, it's going pretty fast already. I mean, the game has been out only for a couple of days. I just can imagine what they are going to achieve in the next weeks/months

Oh I've got a few SD cards about the place, I just don't have any way of getting the files onto the cards, none of the computers in the house have an SD card slot anymore :/

If you manually do the math in each tier they're close to 19k. Not sure what's up with the discrepancy, then again I don't know how Patreon calculates this shit.

Yeah it's pretty impressive.

Not too hard to find out.

Payment processing fees depend on each patron and how many creators they are supporting. Worst case scenario is if all patrons only supported these guys. PayPal charges 2.9% plus $0.3 per payment.

Patreon fees are 5%

PayPal payout fees are 2% (max per transfer $1 US and $20 Int.)

Christ, can we start putting up money for an Xbox emulator already?

There going to drag out development for sure right?, at least a month so they can milk this for as much as they can....and i guess why not if there going to put the working in

That is a concern, I reckon. They've suddenly gained an extra $7k/month, the smart business move is to make progress but not perfect BoTW. Perhaps I'm just being cynical.

The devs know that the money will become less in a few months and of course they know they won't develop the emulator for years and make a good life with it.

Yeah, for sure it will start to drop once the initial BotW fever pass. People need to remember that the emulator becomes available for everyone after a week.

So I dumped my digital copy of XCX via ddd but looks like cemu is not picking up any files that can get it to boot

Looked like everything was dumped completely so anything im doing wrong?

Got screenshots demonstrating the Breath of the Wild shadow resolution LOD levels:
(all images captured as 5k .pngs and then downsampled to 1152p .jpgs by Flickr)

[...]
Edit:
As a follow up, all shadow LOD levels do seem to be affected by the following texture override:
Code:
[TextureRedefine] # Shadows
width = 720
height = 720
overwriteWidth = 2880
overwriteHeight = 2880

However, there's some weird filter or something creating a weird offset on the shadows:

I don't know if it's an emulation bug or what, but it reminds me of the bloom offset bug that Twilight Princess had when emulated in Dolphin and ICO had when emulated in PCSX2.
That's not really LOD, that's cascading shadow maps.
The artifact looks like the shader is trying to sample adjacent pixels in the shadow map for filtering, but due to the resolution increase they are no longer adjacent. You'd need to manipulate the shader to adjust the offset for the higher shadow resolution. (This is something I do in the games where I injected increased shadow resolution)

Just use one SD card to usb card reader.
You can get them for a buck on ebay.

From $10000 to $15000 in a day. Crazy.

This is very good for two reasons:

- with higher amount of money they can hire additional 1FTE developer
- because Zelda does not run smoothly yet they should be working on optimizing CEMU so that it runs better. And if you optimize your code for one game usually it benefits 99% other games as well meaning they will all run better soon!

Very exciting times for emulation.

Zelda and Demon's Souls being playable for the first time on PC this week.

Nah, you're definitely right. May as well make as much cash as possible.

If you cut the current version into one fourth of its progress, its improvements within a month still demolish other active emulators. This has been the running conspiracy theory for over a year at every step of their earnings, at this point, you couldn't even comprehend what the "slow" version of their development looks like, at best, it looks like light years for Decaf.

In the CODE folder in what you dumped there should be a .rpx file that you can open via CEMU.

For you.
Seems people already figured out the shader to alter the shadow resolution for BOTW.

Related question: how do i make a graphics pack work in a European version of a game?

Just need to add the matching title ID in the graphics pack rules.txt under
Code:
[Definition]
titleIds = 123,456,789

Thanks. Just tried MK8 at 10k just for kicks ahaha. It's amazing,even at this resolution it still pumps out 10-15 fps which is nuts.

Really happy with the progress this is making. I played BotW all night last night on WiiU and I really love the game and the framerate does't kill it for me, but it is admittedly bad. I'll absolutely play through the whole thing, but can't wait to play it again on PC whenever in the future.

Also I find it weird when people point out how much these dev's are getting on patreon etc. It can't be easy doing what they are doing. Personally I think they deserve whatever money they are getting as long as long as they are using it to the best of their ability. Just my 2 cents.

Emulators are fascinating. It makes me want to start learning more about console hardware/software. A lot of it is probably tedious trial and error though.

Ayyyy it worked.

Also turned out that I renamed the vol folder to the game name and that was causing errors. Changed it back to vol and it worked :).

Do you know how I can get my app files I made via disc2app working on cemu?

Definitive version is here y'all.
Can't stand the Japanese language (bad anime ruined it for me).

Can't stand bad voice acting either.

Is there a way to disable voices and have text only like all other Zelda games? I mean, the text is already there...

Does CEMU support "cheats"? If currently not, would it ever be possible? Wondering specifically for BotW, would be nice to be able to disable weapon degradation.
