Wow that's insane!! Impressive.
Decided to swap out Lightning with Warrior of Light. ELT still going fine, takes about the same time really, no huge benefit. I'll stick with this team though.

I feel like I'm doing a different fight than everyone else. Everyone has 30-50% fire resist via equipment (which will go up when my Fire armors are done crafting tonight). I've got Marie's barfiraga, Rain's Leadership buff, Noctis' Thunder Flask MAG debuff all up, and everyone's still dead after turn 2 despite a dualcast Curaja from 435SPR Refia. Gonna try swapping Cecil in for Randi, he's not actually ending up all that useful here.

Gotta break ATK too. Use Cecil. Focus helps. Randi might be useful for Full Moon Slash (if you have the materia), but not in place of Cecil.

Ah, damn. I had been using FMS before I started using Thunder Flask, but I also ended up quickly dead so I assumed FMS's debuff wasn't enough. (edit: I think some of FMS's debuffs were getting resisted sometimes, too.)
I shouldn't need Focus if I'm using Leadership, right? Or should I drop Rain?

Long press on Ifrit and see what buffs/debuffs are active. Took me a while to realize that was a thing, but it helped. People have used Rain to great effect, but I just hate his suicidal tendencies, so I don't want added RNG.
ATK break is the most important thing in this fight, aside from Barfira/ga. Get it up turn one and make sure it doesn't drop off. If you can put a couple extra breaks - Power Break on your Ifrit holder is even sufficient if you can get Embolden/Leadership/Protectga up turn 1 as well, depending on HP totals.
Randi w/ Full Moon Slash (and Dual Wield, so it checks twice for the breaks) should be sufficient, though it's a big drop from a Ling break or similar (both incoming and outgoing damage).
If you have FMS on Randi I'd run, say, Cecil/Randi/Noctis/Marie/Refia. Provoke, Full Moon Slash, Barfiraga/Shellga dualcast, Embolden turn one. If Randi doesn't land an ATK break on Ifrit, have Noctis Warp Break for another two chances at it. Probably he'll be Warp Breaking anyway, actually... should make it through the first turn with no deaths and not much meaningful damage.
Marie Anti-Element, Refia stays on Curaja duty, and Randi/Noctis DPS along with your friend unit. If you're maintaining Shellga then you don't even need Focus, just have Cecil keep Provoke up and... I dunno, defend or something. Check Ifrit every turn (as a good habit, not that it's necessary - breaks don't fall off early or anything) to make sure something doesn't slip through the cracks.
Collect your points/coins.
I thought MAG break was the most important but I survived turns without it but can't if I forget ATK break.
I was kinda disappointed when I got Ramza instead of Noctis last December (and another one while chasing Randi) but his 5 turns break are eyes opener, can't wait for his buffed 60% breaks with enhancements, now I totally understand his high scores on JP rankings

A few pages ago someone was emphasizing how important MAG break was, I've definitely been ignoring ATK break as a result.
I don't actually have a Noctis, I've just been taking friends' for the last few rounds because FMS was too unreliable. If I've got Noctis Warp Breaking every round, do I even need Randi for his breaks? Chizuru has been my DPS, and she has the bonus of being able to equip Flame Mail.

This right here really tempts me to buy out a DW from my current TM farm with moogles because that right there is huge and most objectively correct. Lack of redundancy in my runs is what is causing the potential for failed ELT runs.

Back to back successful ELT runs has moved me up to ~11k position (324k points), despite my horrific first day in this event.
This is pleasing, because at this point, that makes up for Day 1 and I'm on track to hit 1.6m by Day 14. (Target line to be "on pace" to hit 1.6m at the end of Day 14 is ~343k points by tonight; ~114.3k points per day needed [As Ifrit is approaching level 19, progression from here on out is going to be mostly a linear affair]).
Given the numbers by everyone and the surprising rate at which I'm still climbing the ranks, I think I can probably safely assert the following:
~10k players on all of Global can hurt ELT Ifrit enough (>35-40% of his life) to make clearing ELT worth more points than PRO.
Even fewer can full clear ELT consistently. I'd napkin math around ~2% of Global's population can actually defeat ELT Ifrit well enough to actually put him on farm mode.
I can't even process this mentally (almost). Damn, man.
The dunes should be here next weekend (24th to 26th).

But today is Sunday. So I thought why not. Got him to 75% first run. I was meant to max out Luka last mog king event but didn't and now it's biting me in the ass again. If I had her I think I could do it consistently. Think I'll continue running pro and then use dunes to max her next weekend and start Elite.
O damn, Bonkeng be moving in on Val's turf.

I know almost everyone has completed Elite but per my post above I had barely attempted. After trying twice today I couldn't get it out of my head. I formed a team and had to have one more go. And I did it! 5th time lucky haha.
I messed up by not putting a ribbon on Ramza which interrupted his singing but managed to play around it.
That was by far the most fun fight I've personally had on this game.
I will now go back to farming pro lol.

So I put twenty bucks into the machine to do an 11 pull just to see if I could get anything with this banner.

If i don't draw a Cecil from player's choice, is Warrior of light a good substitute? I mean once he gets his six star and all...
They are both tanks but at the same time still kinda fill different roles. Cecil mainly excels at stat buffs and providing curaja while WoL is all about stat breaks.

But I mean if what I am filling is the role of tank, are they both similar in that role?
Generally it'd be smart to move away from a "stock" party where you think you need a 'tank', a 'mage', a 'healer'... be ready to adjust your party to the ongoing event or trial. For some battles WoL is better suited, for some Cecil is...for some battles you might want to consider having both for some neither.

With my paltry 2400 coins on alt (spent a bunch last night) decided to do it thinking I'd end up with 7 Thancred's. Ended up with 3, a few moogles.. and OMG IT IS A RAINBOW~ I got her on alt at least. First Rainbow I've seen on there since I started that fucking account. -_-; Which was Delita and Gaffgarion. :| I even spent 5k Lapis this morning hoping for something. Ended up bust.
I don't have dual cast, since well alts TMs are so far not even high on priority list due to main needing them. I have Refia cap already, but going to work on her as well for my healing needs. Not sure if she'll be overly useful... but first Rainbow since I started this during the first FFT event...
I'll take her.

All 3 were limited time characters so it's a chance for folks that didn't get Minfilia or Y'shtola in JP to get them. It's also a soft/easy raid before the next currency event or so.

Bench Ling for WoL and this won't happen again. Might as well give more HP to CoD, Noctis/Cecil doesn't need more than 5,5k for this fight.
Very similar to my setup.
I was using Noctis, Refia, Cloud of Darkness, Ling and Cecil for my ELT runs, but now I've swapped Cloud of Darkness with Warrior of Light (tried Rain but he wasn't doing much). Going fine still.
I'm finding Ling quite helpful with MP refresh too towards the end.
I pretty much use the same moves every round, probably could be more efficient but it gets me the win so I just keep it simple and repeat what I know works for me.
Could always just hold on to the raid coins until you get to 1.2 mil points, grab Y'shtola and then use your coins.

1.48/1.6 million points. Done with the raid by tonight/tomorrow then back to TM farming. Need to find a most efficient way to get yshtola 20 levels.

I could, but right now just trying to pray she drops beforehand. I don't have the time to babysit these coins or game. And I only run Pro. Because I know damn well there is no way I'm getting through ELT. So yeah.. I'm hoping by luck she drops. Time isn't something I have on this. Just as well though because it's kinda boring as hell.
Also, I should add it'd be nice to add... because while I'd LOVE an Olive and I'd love her Trust... I have two of her Moogles on my alt. My alt can't get a freaking rainbow to save its life (sans Y'shtoal now thankfully, but still not useful in long term.) So... I'm not going to sell those Moogles. But I would love to break down TWO moogles into ONE.
