Take your bets guys (mine is May 22nd)
Not sure why they're being cagey about it. Is it being emulated instead of a full on actual port?...
It's a very interesting situation.
So back at E3 when this game was revealed, around the same time we had Adam Isgreen say here on GAF that they didn't want to promise anything they might not be able do and at worst, we can expect a perfect port of PD with a steadier frame rate.
Which is a bit odd by itself, but we also have a Polygon interview with Phil Spencer where he revealed some background on how he had only heard about the rerelease just weeks before E3, and how apparently the game was nearly finished by then.
So, if the port was nearly finished a year ago, your left to wonder what could have been going on this last year. We still don't even have a solid release date, just a vague "before E3".
What I'm left to believe is a few possibilities:
A. The game has been held back to line up with the release of Arena and the updated Club feature for the Xbox OS, as both were featured heavily in the reveal for the rerelease.
And/or B. They took the time to do what they could graphically to the game which has resulted into something between a remaster and a simple port
And my own tinfoil hat theory:
And/or C. The time spent working on the game (either by MS or Code Mystics, the other team working on the rerelease who also did some work on Rare Replay hint hint) resulted in an emulator (or perhaps an easy way of porting) for the OG Xbox, and the rerelease might give that megaton away, so they are holding it until right next to E3 so they can drop that bomb.
The 360 BC ran at 720p. That's why I'm thinking there's still miscommunication on the resolution, but it's not as though there hasn't been time to make it clearer.
That's stupid, cutscenes should be compressed and offered at a lower size for the NA residents. Nothing good about this tweet.
I've heard so much mixed things about this I really want a definitive answer if the 360 actually does render games natively in 720p or if it's a really good upscale. I know for a fact vertical sync and 4xMSAA (some sort of AA at least)360 BC didn't render in 720p it was upscaled very well.
Modern gaming is impossible for people with shit data caps 😐
great news for video game preservation.

The twitter account in the OP said that it's "not just upscaled" although they're not replacing the assets and that there's technical stuff afoot. I think it's being rendered at a proper resolution, not 480p, no matter what that quote says there.

Shannon Loftis, who you're quoting there, also said this:
"We're working with the original game code, but running it on an Xbox One, it just looks better, since the Xbox One is a much more powerful system. It looks more modern, the heart of the gameplay is the same, and the best part is, we're adding Xbox Live, with all Xbox Live features. It's an Xbox Play Anywhere game, it supports cross-play and cross-save, and best of all, achievements."
There's no way this is 480p IMO.
upscaled?Guys, if this is coming to PC, how could it possibly be locked to 480p?
8gb is nothing.

I think I'm fine forgoing HD Phantom Dust if it means I get a functional OG Xbox emulator.
as long as someone gets Ninja Gaiden Black injected in there on like Day 2
MS didn't think so at the time, leaving Majesco to release it in NA.Phantom Dust is a masterpiece. I don't think those who haven't played it quite realize how substantial and important this game is.

Always the underdog
They did the same thing to Psychonauts. Wrong twice in one year.

All right, the debate is over.
That is NOT 480p. Thank god, my suspicions were correct after reading that latter statement.
It's great news. Always great to see things be better than what is expected.
I dunno, anyone who seriously expected MS to be releasing a 480p game in 2017 was kind of out of their tree.
Can any of you pixel counting guys take a stab at that?
