Too bad it's a song already released on their latest album. Hyped for the drama tho, cause Fumi Nikaido and Go Ayano are life.

Speaking of which, Noda from Radwimps is starring in a drama next season (I think?) but the theme song isn't even by Radwimps even though they have a new single coming in May. Huuuuuuuuuuh

he's the lead in 100manen no Onnatachi

Namie's 101 date tour will finally be released on DVD, May 3rd.

Can't wait, that bonus poster coming with the tour is amazing too. I'm glad they're including bonus performances. I wanted to see Christmas Wish live.
Now just waiting for an album announcement from her! How much longer!?!

kurita discovering idols is still tripping me out

who's your BiSH oshimen
I was aware of BiS and all that jazz back when they debuted but their music never really did anything for me at that time. I digged the idea of being a new breed of idols tho, that was refreshing.
Randomly clicking on the latest BiSH music video basically opened my eyes lol
"Wait, this is actually extremely my shit"
(I think I would have eventually checked it out though, because I love the model starring in it)

As for my favorite well... Might be Gumi because I'm a sucker for short hair (and seeing her being desperate on Twitter after buying the wrong food at conbini cracked me up)
I'm cool with Atsuko tho

Hauptharmonie are breaking up. Rico was kicked out for "breaking contract."

it sounds like O-ant is tired after a string of bad incidents and the girls being in poor health so he's just scrapping the whole thing.

The last mini-album will still come out.

Aww, shucks. I'm really fond of Herz über Kopf. Especially Parallel Warp (in which Rico is the main singer). Really curious as to everything that happened.

This along with Up Up Girls' transition to (2) makes me wonder if I should just quit following idols altogether wwww.

she was kind of not-secretly on bad terms with a lot of the members/management. I'm not sure how much of that lies on the situation and how much was her own issues. But considering that it looks like management might be pursuing legal action against her, it's not great.

I'm sure Sui/Mone will bounce back, there's always need for someone who can do choreography. I just hope that Juno doesn't disappear, she's kind of a natural entertainer.

Minor news perhaps but I just noticed that apparently Pony Canyon has finally come to terms with Youtube Red and their videos are no longer blocked in the US or presumably Australia. Now if only Victor would follow suit (Sony is obviously a lost cause).

KOTO and Yuri Hirano's new unit has their first single out. I am slowly trying to digest all of this week's great releases.

It's not very often my taste aligns with yours Kurita but it's nice when it does. I always figured Kenta Matsukuma's music might be up your alley. He tends to rely too much on a few musical templates that he recycles over and over which isn't too surprising considering how prolific he is, but when he gets it right the result is something hopelessly catchy. You also mentioned Yumemiru Adolescence and of course he produced a song for them too a couple years ago.

I know I'm late as fuck and I haven't posted in this thread a minute but this song been giving me life recently

lie night / あめとかんむり

Yeah I'm glad she's still releasing stuff with tapestok after Kouteca disbanded.

Thoughts on the new Oomori Seiko album? I really like it. I got the edition with the bluray, so I'm excited to watch that maybe this weekend.

I don't have it yet but the 3-4 songs I've heard from it are great. I don't know how she manages to be this prolific with this high a bar of quality while avoiding becoming stale.

I love it, Dogma Magma is easily one of her best songs, like top 3. Can't wait to see the Blu-ray.

It's up on Spotify btw.

Listening to it on Spotify, never really listened to her before (I loved the collab with Noko released last year tho), it's pretty cool.

Suchmos released a PV for PINKVIBES from their stellar album released earlier this year

I wanted a PV for TOBACCO but that'll do.

Kurita, have you listened to KEYTALK's new album yet?

I just realized that this year is supposed to be Namie Amuro's 25th anniversary? I wonder if she will do anything special this year. I can't remember exactly which interview it came from, but during her 20th anniversary, she had made a comment saying she didn't think she could go another decade, or something of the sorts. I wonder if she plans on retiring soon. I hope not :( but she has been in music for a very long time.

Of course! A bit early to say but it might be my favorite album so far lol
Everytime they release something new it becomes my favorite work but that's just how good they are haha
I had high hopes after that insane streak of great singles and I'm not disappointed.
I'm surprised by the length of the album, just 50 minutes for 17 songs. It's not a bad thing though, it's easy to listen this way, and the variety in their sound is damn impressive. I love how they throw the punk/hardcore Horobiro just before the super sweet Love Me lol Then you also have Shinran Bancho that sounds like a Gesu no Kiwami Otome song.
They really can do anything, it helps that all 4 members are on songwriting duty.

Favorite new songs : Shinran Bancho, Summer Venus, Parasite, Story

I think it was her interview in Hong Kong when she was promoting Uncontrolled. She mentioned retiring, so everyone assumed her 25th anniversary would be the last. We'll know by the end of the year I guess. I think with this tour going until May she might do a dome tour like she did for her 20th anniversary, or a one off performance in Okinawa. I would love to see her in concert :(

Absolutely love it. She done did it again. I'm surprised that the album is so cohesive considereing the singles being all over the place tonally. Dogma Magma is still amazing after watching the mv a billion times. The new version of Kimi ni todokuna is perfection.
10/10 Positive Stress still kinda sucks, but at least the nama ham to yaki udon song isn't on it.

this is so cheesy lol, teddyloid please...

I haven't received my copy yet, but from what I've heard I'm loving how upbeat everything is! Can't wait to finally listen to it in whole!

Awwwww I want to see her in concert so bad before she retires. You're right, we won't know probably till the end of the year :(

Saw The Mirraz yesterday, aaaaaaaaah it was so good.
Since they don't have a drummer anymore they just have a guy wearing a costume of their mascot behind a Mac starting the drum tracks. It was pretty hilarious to have a giant character dancing during the entire show. I wonder if they'll get a new drummer soon tho, it's not really the same when it's not real drums.
That being said, their style lately has been EDM infused rock, and the setlist was mostly this so it didn't hurt the experience that much. As expected all these EDM tracks are a ton of fun live. Of course they played their classic tunes, but I was happy to see that everybody was still into the band's new style.
Apparently they're going to stop their EDM sound pretty soon from what they've said? Looking forward to what's next.
As for the band itself, they're very... stoic in a cool way? They don't take themselves seriously but I don't know. Like, they're very friendly and actually hilarious dudes but don't go overboard and might seem a bit cold when they're playing, cause they're barely moving around the stage lol. But yeah, they just have a cool aura. Not disappointed, they were already one of my favorite bands ever but that live made me realize how great they really were.

Goose house's cover of SuiCan's 一休さん is surprisingly good? It's way different from the original but I still enjoyed it.

WANIMA held their first one man live ever yesterday, in a sold out Saitama Super Arena. Really wanted to go :'(
They also announced their major debut, which I didn't really expect. They're now with unBORDE (Kyary, tofubeats, Gesu, indigo la End, Shinsei Kamattechan...) and will release their first single on May 17th! Can't wait.

BiSH will perform at Makuhari Messe on July 22th, hope I'll be able to go....
I wonder if the billboard in Shibuya saying they've got announcement to do on March 20 (so, today) is that or something else.
I took a picture of it obviously

Flower's new single MOON JELLYFISH (idk) is out April 26th. It looks and sound gorgeous.

  1. MOON JELLYFISH
  2. Totemo Fukai Green (とても深いグリーン; Very Deep Green)
  3. Colorful "a touch of jazz" mix (カラフル) (Regular Edition only)
  4. MOON JELLYFISH (Instrumental) (Regular Edition only)

I don't know how I feel about charisma.com newest album. While I like groups experimenting with new sounds, and the album has some really nice chill songs, I feel like they are missing a bit their identity with the lack of agressive/banger/"in your face" tracks.

It's still a nice listen, but I feel like there are plenty of acts that are doing (or could do) this sound.

Man that new Charisma.com album is my jam. Having songs produced by guests was a great idea, paid off big time.

Might be my favorite Charisma.com album to date

Charisma.com's new album is amazing and so much better than I expected. A real return to form for them after their last couple releases have been pretty bad. The new single, not not me, is really good and maybe my favorite track (with YAJIUMA DANCE right behind it, which I couldn't help gushing over to Miho Hatori on Twitter, so so so good)

Daichi Miura's new album is okay. I'd probably like it a lot more if it featured Look What You Did (which is better than most of the new tracks on the album) and I hadn't over-played Cry & Fight like a year ago.

New JUJU single is quite nice but I rarely bump ballads so I will appreciate it from afar. Keep rockin' those hats, girl

A friend of mine turned me on to Polkadot Stingray's EP and the singer gives off serious shades of Mikami Chisako at times, which is the highest compliment I can give. Then I listened to their latest single, and it seems like they've taken a step back from that sound. It's still great, but I'm kinda bummed. fra-foa had already broken up when I really got into Japanese music, so to have an active band with a sound that similar had me hyped. Oh, well.

I dunno if I should bother getting the polkadot stingray physical eps when I already have digital. Should just wait for album I guess.

Anyone getting stuff on Record Store Day?
I hope to get the 3776 'Love Letter' 12" and Tentenko 7" from the Japanese side, also would quite like the Faye Wong 'Chungking Express' 7"
The UK website has also some interesting Japanese listings, although I expect most of these to be priced extortionately & hard to get hold of - Babymetal 'Metal Resistance' pic disc, Flower Travellin' Band 1st LP, and perhaps the most interesting release pink film actress Ike Reiko's 'You Baby' LP from 1971
