But a pause button will break the game and ruin everything, I've heard.

Both extremes are wrong. It definitely wasn't needed, but it won't ruin everything either. It'll be interesting to see how it does affect the gameplay down the line if at all.

I didnt know there was no pause but I think it's ridiculous that some people will act like the Souls Series is tougher because of no pausing. You just stand somewhere where there are no enemies, or kill the enemies first. And then you leave your guy standing there and go do what you have to do.

No pause in Souls makes sense because of the multiplayer aspect, but Nioh doesn't really have that? It wasn't really necessary.

I don't particularly need pause, but it's definitely a nice addition for those times when someone in my house is screaming my name while I'm in the middle of a boss fight. Anyone offended by pause is just acting weird.

Wait...do people actually feel this way? What in the world

There are some scary people out there who feel like, if you get an urgent phone call or a knock at the door you deserve to die for having a life.

Great feature and well done for adding it. Obvs not in MP, but there is 100% zero reason why there should not be a pause button when playing offline.

came to make a joke about how it's now objectively better than souls. already covered, good job GAF.

souls is still superior

Apart from having a house and bills and all that, this is one reason why I don't buy many games on day 1 anymore because if I had already finished the game, I probably wouldn't have much time to go back to it, so would have missed this extra content. Will pick it up once I've finished with Horizon.

All these comments just about the pause out of the whole patch lol like people just read the title and that's it :p
Maybe title should've been "adds pause and more"

Never go into a souls thread, for your own good.

I adore the Souls games but I guess I have yet to see the comment said. Wow lol.....

That is an asinine belief if i have ever heard one.

Glad to have finished this before they added the panic button

Amazing game

What? Do you feel more proud of yourself for it or something? This is really strange....you do realize people might have real world things to deal with right? "Panic button"? Wtf

Dark Souls is a synchronous game, i mean i'm sure dark souls can work with a pause function offline though but this goes to show how developers approach their core styles differently.

Not tougher but it definitely makes some battles more tense. Oftentimes when I'm in a really intense combat situation in another game, I'll pause for a second to cool down. Souls games not letting you do that makes the combat encounters far more memorable and engaging, for me at least.

Haven't played Nioh yet so I can't comment on whether or not it's different there.

It does make them tougher at times when you realize you don't have the right weapons or armor equipped for a fight, or you don't have something like Sedatives equipped to a quick item slot and you run across a Winter Lantern (just an example, since I know you can hear them singing from far away).

With that being said, I'm glad pausing is optional, since I'll be playing without it whenever I get Nioh later this year.

I always thought it was to prevent people from use pause to see enemies animation and make dodge easier.
