I just can't get over the 'opinion' aspect of the counter argument thats painting him as a victim. If I believed fucked up views like we should smash newborn babies into rocks there wouldn't be a call to sit down and discuss the nuance of my 'opinion'.
It goes back to the world in 2017; as opposed to being rephrehensible bias/racism/hatred is respected and just a personal opinion like liking a different sports team. The jontron's of the world arent the problem which is why I intially found this more amusing/disappointing at first. You're always going to have people like him. Its the 'regular' people don't wanna deal with the reality of those views, want to discuss their way around it...etc...that when things fall apart. JonTron isn't racist on YouTube. He makes video games and movie reviews. It's hard to find racist propaganda on his channel but I guess you can find it if you look hard enough.

If you go back a few pages, Messafango (I probably mispelt that) transcribed part of a Boogie video where he outright admits that he's defending racism.
I thought Boogie should've stayed out of it when he said "I think people should be allowed to say whatever, so long as you're not saying something bad about someone who said something", while at the same time saying "but I don't want to get into it, because I am afraid of losing viewers over partaking".

Why do you put it on the "smart people" to ignore it? And what about the ramifications of an influential person being able to spout whatever without being checked? Trump is president, and is continuously dropping the ball on handling even the most basic of facts, and every time media actually attacks him for saying bullshit is a tiny victory in my book. But in your "perfect world", JonTron can just tell his entire fanbase that other ethnicities should stay out of his genepool, and it should be up to everyone to discern if it's a valuable opinion or not? Oh man, I haven't been following this but now that this thread is 55 pages I can't help it. When this story first popped up I figured he said something stupid taken out of context but man oh man. He really is a douche bag.
As vague as that statement is, implying that Boogie is awful because he doesn't want to lose viewers isn't right. It's actually how the world normally works. JonTron, being a sane person, would keep his incredibly racist remarks to himself, because his name is a brand. The fact that he's not smart enough to keep stuff like that inside is fine by me, because it means I know he's a guy with despicable views, and can choose to avoid him. Furthermore, Boogie isn't racist even if he's trying to make a point about some "middle ground" between people being allowed to be racist and people negatively reacting to people being racist, so I have no issues with what he's saying. However, he can't say "I'm not gonna speak about this, because I want to remain out of it, but here's what I mean"

His videos on Jon and other controversial youtubers are monetized, he's giving his views not out of some sort of pacifist desire of good intentions, sunshine and rainbows but to get clicks and ad revenue. I personally find the idea of profiting off a defence of bigotry to be pretty gross.

I ended up watching Boogie streaming the Splatoon 2 Global Test fire, not only is hit terrible at the game, and can't read menu's or seemingly know how to play despite claiming to have loved Splatoon 1.
The whole stream he's talking about how he's gotta go around and spread his jism all over the map, and how he just covered his wife in goo and now he'll cover the map, aint life good.
A live uncut version of these guys... good hell.
It's the least surprising thing in the world that outside of their carefully planned and edited videos, they are actually toxic people.

Well being middle ground in this kind of situation is just letting racism continue. Boogie might not be racist but he's allowing racism to continue. It's like he said "See this guy says he hates black people but that's his opinion and we shouldn't yell at him and let him speak his mind". He's still letting racism go on unopposed and would rather we be nice to the racist and maybe they might not hate us.

It's immature, sure... but I hardly consider those things 'toxic' at least in this sense.
One vid he's doing stupid shit like that.. and the other he can be discussing an issue or topic with all seriousness in a rational entirely mature manner, defending rights, and women and equality. People are complex, and he's no exception. I'm sure being in front of a camera and feeling like you have to be stupid and silly to get views or something doesn't help... but I feel he's one of the ones that at least tries to balance things.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't in good conscious deny him everything good or interesting or funny he's done because he defended someone's right to speak their mind... regardless of how incredibly stupid or horrible that opinion is.
I should admit though that I'm not trying to find every little thing he's ever said and analyse it from a new perspective that's seeded in hate. I've got better things to do than hate everyone who's an idiot. It starts by simply being more positive to those who are positive themselves.

People are disappointed that Boogie is trying to play the both sides card, when its clear JonTron's views are completely ridiculous and hateful. People want him to grow a spine instead of trying to appease both sides in fear of losing viewers. Sometimes you can disconnect artists and their views and sometimes you morally just can't, for a lot of us we can't as Jon's idealism is straight up absurd and dangerous.
