ZERO fucks given at this time.

Why? Because I was a day one supporter of the original Destiny and all it did was get more irritating with each "update". The DLC plans were bad. The content in most of them were bad. No more asset flips to "create content" which was kind of/sort of already on the disc. No more dumb ass pricing plans for long term users and new content (like when TTK first showed up). No more "cosmetic" horseshit while the actual game content suffers.

And if you complained, you were told to suck it up and throw money at the screen.

Seriously, just no more.

Luke Smith still being at the helm of this dumpster fire of a game is a kiss of death for me. I learned from his "decisions" about the original, and because of that I will wait for a demo or "free trial" before "throwing my money around" this time. Bungie as it is now gets a vote of NO CONFIDENCE from me because of all that.

...Tell us how you really feel why don't you?

More game should be 60 FPS. Many games aren't, even as single player games. Why rationalize excuses? Why make it so that Destiny 2 can only be judged for not being 60 FPS if all other games are 60 FPS?

Console audiences just don't care enough, and developers would rather have the extra overhead to maintain a consistent framerate all the time. That way the scenario design teams can go crazy and not worry about framedrops during say, a six person raid with two dozen enemies on screen.

How many of the supposedly 60FPS shooters on PS4 even maintain that framerate? People keep telling me to look at Battlefield One, but when I pull up a DF Framerate test it turns out the game spends most of its time between 45-55 fps, dipping as low as 30.

I'm not sure why it's even worth being dogmatic about the issue now. If you care that deeply about 60fps, get the PC version. Or maybe an Xbox Scorpio.

To be fair, I was just criticizing the main part that i hated about warframe. But it being 60 fps is cool and I wish Destiny would bother with it but AAA games these days kinda just don't, which is a real shame.

I don't know if you fall into this, but I often hear a lot of people on GAF and Destiny that really push back against Destiny incorporating many ideas from Warframe. I think Destiny should totally steal some ideas outright. The Stalker is a great game-changer in Warframe. Something like that would be great in Destiny. I prefer Warframe's approach of making the abilities far more powerful as well. Why not have randomized Cabal/Fallen/Hive ships in space that you board for unique runs at harder and harder difficulties. Destiny should have some of the wave-based missions like the Tower missions in Warframe. I feel like there is a lot to learn from Warframe, but there is a lot to not do that Warframe does though.

What does Luke Smith have to do with any of those decisions? He helmed the raid team for the launch version of the game and then the Taken King expansion before moving to creative lead of D2.

Luke Smith being at the helm of this is basically the most reassuring news of the entire project....

Man, who cares about 60 fps (Note: I do, and fucking strongly, but I'll be getting the PC version to meet that demand) -- everyone who plans on getting a console version should forget all that right now and pray for dedicated servers and a high tick-rate.

smh lol

maybe i'll give a fuck when i actually see some real gameplay. d1 was good for about a week, so i hope d2 has a bit more longevity.

Fool me once.

Made the mistake of pre-ordering the first game. Never again.

Yup.

They turned the game into a grindy lootfest space dress-up simulator.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment for me this gen, and this is coming from a big metal gear fan. Lol

Peace Walker stomped my expectations down to safe levels so that V didn't burn as much as it could have.

Luke Smith has been in charge of all of the best content in Destiny (Vault of Glass and The Taken King expansion).

If anything, him being in charge of Destiny 2 is reassurance it'll probably be great.

It was always that. From day 1 of development.

hoooo boy. let's see if D2 will have in game matchmaking to cut down on the OT numbers.

Not even remotely true. There was a separate thread and even other websites for organzing groups. A majority of the OTs were actual discussions.

Hating on Destiny was cool in 2015. Get with the times.

It's pretty sad how much potential was squandered with this game, and even sadder the think that Sony Santa Monica canceled a probably bigger, better take on the space frontier MMO because of Sony's pushing of this game.

I have no idea why people still believe this.

Destiny's 6 V 6 MP does not have larger maps than BF1.

Destiny while a looker in of itself, is not the level technically with BF1, so pound for pound BF1, no matter its dips, was achieving way more with its bag of tricks than Destiny ever was.

It is my hope that the new engine helps Bungie

Here is something a poster linked in the last Destiny thread

Destiny at 60fps
Uh but I am not talking about the MP now am I? The PvE content has larger area than any BF game and also it does have more complex geometry, there's a lot more "stuff" to draw on screen, it is also consistently 1080P. And if rumours are to be believed Destiny 2 is going for extremely large areas.

BF1 does not manage to hit 60FPS despite running at lower resolution and having smaller areas..what chance does Destiny 2 has? Also Bungie priorities consistency above all and unless they can get stable 60FPS (which BF has never achieved ever mind you) they won't do it. You will absolutely not get Destiny 2 at 60FPS on consoles, it's just not happening.

The rest of your post is like circa 2014 destiny hate so i wont even touch it. This part though, i guarantee you if Sony Santa Monica had, at any point in time, a game better than Destiny in their hands, they would not have scrapped 3 years of work and layed off 100+ people. Games (that have funding like a 1st party game by Sony) get cancelled for a reason, and that reason is that they suck and the studio was not able to make their premise fun or whatever.

Eh. Destiny is fine at 30 fps.

Halo 5 went 60 FPS and because of the underpowered XBO they had to make so many sacrifices that the final game was a colossal dissapointment graphically.

Give me my 4K Graphical fidelity at a smooth 30 for SP, and 60 for competitive multiplayer.

You honestly can't believe that Sony cancelled a better game and lost millions of dollars on it just because of Destiny's mere existence. Nobody takes that kind of hit unless the project is legitimately going sour.

Luke Smith was at the helm of The Taken King, which is widely considered to be a much better game than vanilla Destiny. So uh... what?

It's amazing how often the Destiny haters end up not knowing much about the game itself.

So you want to have 4K graphics instead of 60 FPS when a very slim amount of people would even have 4K tvs? And you think 60 FPS is going to be too big of a resource drain and want 4K?!

Indeed. Considering how catastrophic the events post that games cancelation were there had to be some huge issues with SM game. Rumors were Sony had poured substantial money into it, they fired a ton of staff, and even got rid of prominent studio vets like Stig over it.

Whatever happened with SM "Destiny like IP" it had to be incredibly bad

Game engines, how do they work

Expectations, how do they work? You honestly expect Destiny 2 to have better graphics plus larger areas with towns, outposts, quests, NPCs, enemies, and all the trappings of a modern open world experience with online co op plus other players all while running at a butter smooth 60fps?

Y'all shouldn't be comparing Destiny 2 to other FPS's, but to other open world games. Any other console open world games running at 60fps besides MGSV?

If you don't like destiny that's cool but get your condescending BS out of here. People play destiny because it has world class shooting mechanics and CoOP that's unique and best in class.

People tend to pay for content. Compare destiny content to COD map packs or other shooter content dollar for dollar.

Thank you for the level-headed and logical post. It's amazing that people expect Destiny 2 to become larger, add towns and outposts, potentially more players on the open world map, improve the graphics and be 60fps.

I for one don't give a shit about any of that stuff. I just wanted Destiny 1 style zones at 60fps.

Shinobi already confirmed better graphics and massive playable environments including towns. And Destiny is already a rather good looking game. They aren't going to do all that and include 60fps. Maybe at best PVP will be 60

So make it look worse and jack the resolution down.

Do whatever you have to do. Just hit the now-standard refresh rate for shooters.
