Whoa, just saw this. That'd be a nice surprise! I was expecting we'd have to wait till E3. I wonder why they're opting to show it before then?

I'm interested to see what the extra power can bring. At this point, I feel like Microsoft has to make exclusives for the platform otherwise they risk falling into obscurity. I don't think Xbox One Games at 4K are going to cut it.

EDIT: I bought the PS4 Slim on Black Friday here in Canada and have got an insane amount of usage out of it. I think I own about 10 or so games now. Late '16 through now has been an amazing time for the PS4.

Hardware is very impressive?

y'all should be ashamed
IGN are more Fox News than Al Jazeera.

DF will dig into the hardware in depth and give us a real idea of how powerful this thing is. With DF, Microsoft can't hide the specs of it. IGN will effectively be the same as a fluff promo video "Microsoft told us it has 10 billion transistors and th highest quality pixels! They also assured us that it can handle 4K* games in true 4K*".

Digital Foundry means a better chance of a truly powerful console. IGN means PS4 Pro Plus.
Definitely agree. It's not even IGN, it's literally any website besides Digital Foundry.

I have no doubt it is impressive if it is actually DF doing the piece on it. You don't give your hardware to DF before even unveiling it without knowing full well you've got a monster.

Why on earth would you reveal a new console through a website.
I am really disappointed at this. God bless the 2005 Microsoft with there bold reveal of the Xbox 360

I think they are gonna trickle out info over the next few months, build up hype and anticipation...tease the people and at E3 they will open up with a big game running on Scorp then reveal the console after the opening.

Shinobi just posted on twitter that there is Scorpio stuff happening next week (just confirming Jez). He added that he heard that the hardware is very impressive.

Hmmmm....having Shinobi say that has a lot of weight behind it. From my understanding, he has a very good track record. So when he says hardware is very impressive, does he mean the look or the tech inside of it? If it is internal and we know that the GPU has been 6tf, memory bandwidth and heavily rumored 12gb of RAM, in order for him to say it is very impressive wouldn't most of you think very good CPU as well? I mean it can be very impressive with jaguar clocked very high, but to me very impressive is something better than jaguar.

I'm super excited to get back into the Xbox. Had two One's that ended up selling, but now that I have a 4K HDR TV, I'm game for the Scorpio. I'm hopeful that MS will put out enhanced versions of Forza Horizon 3 and Gears 4 (they definitely will). I own both on PC, but have held off due to Scorpio (I want HDR). I'm also certain that it will become my new third-party machine. All that on top of the 360 BC that I sorely miss, has me very excited for the future!

Please just don't have a scorpion as part of marketing or official branding. Otherwise...intrigued at what software they have to show off and if any are unannounced first party titles.

I REALLY want something on the system to justify owning one. My Xbox 1 was a BC machine so I didn't feel all that bad about letting go of it. Hopefully they can match software with the hardware.

I am thinking it is more that they will still have a separate show, but due to it being a conference it would be hard for them to stream something and people being able to discern the impact due to it being a stream. Kind of like when Sony tried to show HDR on a stream, it just did not work. Perhaps having DF involved, they can provide inside tech analysis of the system that they will publish after the presentation.

I think people in attendance at the event will be blown away since they will see it direct feed, but for the majority of us, we will be watching on a stream on our laptops or desktops on 1080p screens which wont have HDR or 4k resolution, so it would be hard to convey that without being there and having a 4k set in front of you to really see the difference. DF can provide great analysis and then provide 4k youtube videos you can play on your 4k set to really see what this stuff will look like.

Very excited to see what MS has been cooking up.

The entire Xbox One reveal and it's subsequent stumbles along this gen. Professionally that had to sting the entire team over there. They have made strides despite that. And that bodes well.

Despite some crazy fanboys hoping for a monopoly. Competition is what drives this industry. MS putting one over Sony with the 360 led to them putting out the PS4.

This stuff only helps us as gamers.

Could someone with inside knowledge confirm/hint whether we're getting RDR2 gameplay with Scorpio this upcoming week cause it was mentioned in the other thread and I'm already hyped.

You're not going to be getting RDR2 footage with the Scorpio. Rockstar are teaming up with Sony for what is obviously a marketing deal, you'll be lucky to see any xbox footage before release.

The Windowscentral report (which was the first site to report on this, mind you) mentioned RDR2 so I'm still hopeful.

I'd love it if ms built a 500 dollar power house box. Wouldn't mind seeing one console manufacturer try to push the hardware envelope again.

Yeah personally I'd love to see MS go for it and create an absolute monster even if that meant the console pushing $500. I think it would do ok and don't really believe in the 'needs to be $400' statement, not when they've already got the standard Xbox One S for the cheaper segment. I don't even think $500 is THAT much for a premium console tbh especially when people are so willing to spend even more than that on other electronic devices.
