I'm at 95 mythril and had planned to skip all non-LDs leading into the next Fest, other than one 11-pull on XI, VIII and VII. Upon reanalysis, I'm don't think I'm going to pull tonight.

The XI pull was just going to be for RS. That doesn't seem like such a good idea anymore. AFAIK, there are only two other XI events in the pipeline: A Torment and the Zeid/Aphmau event (in ~4 months). Seeing as the CM for this event is to just bring Shantotto, she can be a lvl 80 RW BSB user in a Mage team and likely do just fine. The relics in the next event look FAR better, to boot.

As for the relics themselves:
Shantotto's relics are all nice, but I mostly pull for Mage RS rather than characters. BSB Onion, BSB Alph, Ley Papa/Sheep Krile/Dream Braska, SG Tyro, BSB Vanille w/ BSB Raines RW works wonderfully and is a hard team to change around. The only major shakeup would be lucking into a native Raines BSB. Even then, that wouldn't alter things too drastically; moreso it would shift things around to make the runs smoother.

Lion's BSB is cool, but she can't use Support abilities. That puts a damper on things. There is no place for her outside of XI CMs. If ATK/DEF debuff stacks are needed for something, I already have Barret's 50% ATK/DEF SSB. On top of that, I have Barret's 30% Hyperbreak too. He can run FB + Wrath for a nice -110% ATK/DEF, -60% MAG/RES.

Prishe's BSB is solid, but, like Lion, it wouldn't give her a spot outside of XI CM teams. All of my Physical teams are Elemental themed, so a Non-Elemental BSB isn't very appealing. Her Last Stand + 40% Medica + High Regen could see normal use, though!

Also I main MNK in Final Fantasy XIV. I whaled on one of the earlier banners just to get Temple Cyclas. Only item I've whaled for not because of its value in FFRK, but purely for sentiment.

I'm not impresed by their 5 skill abilities. They're not a waste, but not worth taking up a slot.

The only monk I use are Galuf/Joseph, whichever of the two could use Support 4, and Yda, because Yda is a very good character.

But even then it's just for realm synergy, there isn't room for a single monk on my A team.

I'm on the boat that Monks are good. Hence my R3 Fires Within/Meteor Crush. As Hours Left said, they work very well on mixed and mage teams due to self boosting and anything that helps out healers is a big boon. Several Monks also have Support 4 and interesting skillsets (Jecht with Darkness, Refia can backrow with a melee weapon using Fires Within/Sapphire Shot due to Shooter 5, Galuf can Ninja magic spam, etc).

Piercing Strike is a hidden gem that has allowed for some niche use for fights where physical is at a big disadvantage. When Mote Ifrit first came out, several people used Monks and Piercing Strike to get around it's insane DEF values.

However, I'm of the opinion that Lifebane is not great when Omega Drive exists. All Monks can use Omega Drive (and being a Combat skill, it has far wider distribution) and it's a stronger skill.

It really doesn't help Lifebane's case that Omega Drive is getting buffed in the future. DeNA wtf.

Went 1/1 on 100 gems and 4/11 on the FFXI banner. Got 2x Shantotto CSB and SSBs for Lion, Ayame, and Prishe.

Best pull I've had in awhile even though I missed Lion BSB; can't even remember my last 4/11. Puts me on pretty solid footing in FFXI since I already had Shantotto's burst.

Did an 11 pull and got Shantotto's LCSB and SSB. They'll pair nicely with Ashe's BSB and Lightning's first SSB.

If this game will ever let me have Raijin and Kain's BSBs, then I'll be in lightning heaven.

As for Samaurai's, the only one that I really use is Sephiroth because I have his OSB.


Edit: I love Deployment Tactics so much. Is there anyway to amplify the effect? Or someone else who has similar effect that stacks? I know it's referred to as Radiant Shield but when I googled it a few days ago for only like 5mins so not really digging through things -- that someone on reddit had mentioned someone else has something similar.

It just simply feels so good when fighting a boss and BOOM ae'ed my whole group and I'm scrambling for a medica, but then I see the boss getting "1253 2000 878 2499" etc. It's like "see? don't ae me stupid boss!"

Did a combo mythril gems pull and got shantytown bsb and chain, so now I have six armors and a staff for xi. Having all of shans sbs is going to make her a beast.

So, take a solo big boss like 250 geosgano who resists lightning

Yeah I'm also basically out of power as well. Taking all four of my life siphons from r-4 to r-5 crushed my supply as well as getting the older 5 stars to r3. I typically only hone when I can take to r3 unless it is a niche ability.

After being tempted, I decided not to pull on XI, because really, how often are we going to get XI content? I'd rather wait and sit on it until something useful comes around. If anything, I am tempted to pull on that Luneth Banner and try to snag his BSB/OSB.

So I just read the tips that using a second chain sb resets the chain, so it's good to know that. I may take on leviathan mp again just to try out an enemy that has a decent hp pool.

Aw man, Lion is my fav. FFXI waifu, but I really don't want to spend mythril on this banner. Looks like her BSB isn't great anyways, Tyro's does it all and more.

Is Tenzen/Zeid/Kam'lanaut on the second banner or even in this game? They always only seem to use the female characters.

On that note, does anyone else listen to the FFRK Central podcast? I wondered why it hadn't posted but after going to the site, i noticed Pierre put up an announcement saying it is going to be terminated since he just doesn't have the drive to do it anymore.

That's really too bad since I looked forward to listening in every week. It looks like he's slowly winding the site down as well. All the best in whatever else he decides to do, it was a fun ride.

I played XI for ~6 years and have a lot of good memories of it (bad ones too lol) but I'm not gonna pull on it when the next XI banner is better in almost every way (and has 2 of my fav characters in the game on it).

Besides, the FFT event with Rafa is almost here, and I want enough for a 2nd pull on that,. her BSSB is REALLY gud and the dupe count on it is pretty low. Not gonna pull more than that though since it returns on the Meliadoul event in the far, far future.

I have enough strong BSBs to clear most strong content at this point, so now it's really a matter of targeting relics for characters I like/want to use that don't have stuff already to make them more functional.

So I am going after Rafa, Zeld, Gladiolus, Sabin, Aphmau and Mog stuff, since those are my favorite characters that I don't have BSB-ter stuff for yet. I might occasionally go after other stuff I don't have that really gud (Cid Raines BSB) but meh.

Zell is one of the best Monks. A simple dive into Celerity 5 and he joins the ranks of one of the few who can ChainCharge. Great relics all round, with his BSB being one of the higher DPS BSBs in the game.

Snow is pretty special because he's a tank that can Backrow and self heal with Fires Within. Access to Knight 5 is great. Unfortunately his SBs range from good to awful.

As I continue to clear old Nightmare battles with little effort, it definitely seems a lot easier.

The only two things that changed:

1. Few good OSB/BSB during anniversary month.
2. No longer doing Realm-Synergy only fights.


I really would prefer to do number 2, because it makes you appreciate all the chars and their str and weakness much more instead of the same setup all the time and same soulbreaks.


That being said, since this game isn't "free" necessarily, I'll continue doing it like the rest of you.

Well that Keepsake Knife is what I usually put on him. Good atack and has 10 def and he's always my "tank" so he's always in the top slot.


Speaking of which, in the old final fantasies up to 6 (not sure about 7+) there was some kind of formula that determined who got hit the most. In Final Fantasy 1, you wanted your Warrior/Knight in the top slot, and you wanted your black mage in the final slot.

Does FFRK play by these rules? Or is it only concerned with Front row vs. Back row?
