in the middle of the dayphase, scum call a not surprising election and villagers are expected to vote for a scum leader. They have to vote for the scum leader because the villager lead is a delusional old man who just got lost on the way to the arts club.
I can't wait to spectate.

If/when you have died in our little games, you will be contacted by your gamerunner and given a choice: You can enter the spectators thread on Outer Gafia, or you can go to the replacement list.
The spectator thread is a thread hosted on Outer Gafia that only people who are not playing can enter. There, we discuss the ongoing games. Who is doing well? Who is doing poorly? The identities of the Mafia are traditionally kept secret in this thread until players who are in the know (dead mafia) come and reveal them. For some people, spectating after you die is the most fun part of the entire experience.
However, games also need replacements, and so, if you would like, you can also go to the replacement list, and wait for an open spot in the other game.
Obviously you cannot go back into the game where you previously died. Likewise, you can choose to go from the replacement list to the spectator thread, but you cannot go from the spectator thread to the replacement list.

the mod enclave had a talk recently, and we may be moving to a new system where recruitment thread will go up every 3 or 4 months and games are not structured into main and mid-season concept anymore. this new approach means the next recruitment thread is due around june, ish.
secondly, the members to mod enclave will be reviewed to coincide with the recruitment drives. so existing mods can step down and play more and new mods can step up
for new joiners, you can join the mod enclave by running a game !!
perks include: very nasty secret chat where we bad mouth every one .... and a semi-used cookie of dubious flavour !!

The theory has been that main season is when we recruit new players, so the initial main season games are carefully reviewed and balanced, and certain elements are discouraged so that we don't scare away new players. Midseason is more uncertain - we don't review the games, we don't discourage those elements, because we know the people who are going to play in the midseason are pretty much already hooked.
The problem is that midseason has been running too long. It was pointed out to me this morning that it was six full months between the start of season 7 and the start of season 8. So we're looking at ways to calm that down. The current proposal is that every four months we'll do some recruiting, just as we have before main season games, and then we will have an ongoing playlist of games that we'll be working through.
Now, what does this mean for you guys? Not a whole lot. We're still going to pay special attention to the games that come right after recruiting. We're still going to do some event games. (We discussed a few things in Modchat today that I think you all are REALLY going to like.) Gafia will still be Gafia.
What's going to change: New threads will be coming more regularly. Hopefully this will mean more new people. Also, if you submit a game to be run, we're going to ask for some of the stuff a lot earlier than you might be used to. You can still submit a design, but shortly thereafter we're going to be coming to talk about what boards you need and what your banners and role PMs look like. We want to get this stuff ironed out early so we can launch you as soon as you come up in the schedule.
Oh yes, there's also going to be a schedule. It will be a mix of mod discretion and first come, first serve. We'll be able to tell you what's coming soon, and what's in the distance to get ready for.
One more thing - Currently the mods for main season games are expected to oversee the next main season. That will be changing as well. Too many of our mods are getting stuck in modchat for too long. From now on, Mods will be expected to run their game, and then stay on in modchat for a period of 8 weeks to help with whatever games come after theirs. If a mod WANTS to stay longer, they are welcome to, but we are only going to require 8 weeks.

It's almost finished for almost a year now, lol. But I never came around to actually finishing it. The mid/main season question, while now obsolete, was mainly to determine if I have to restrain myself on the other aspects.
