if they haven't hooked up now and were largely ignoring each other until you got there, why would they hook up later? Just because two people have opposing genitals and are close to each other doesn't mean that they can't ever meet new people and fall in love with others. I went for Ann because believe it or not, close guy and girl friends CAN exist.

Yep, I've had this exact relationship RL, that's why I never once bought into Ann and Ryuji being a thing and was surprised how many read it this way here. The Lovers arcana hasn't done me wrong yet. I really liked that she was so inexperienced with dating that she's just eating it up once she's in a relationship. Shiho mentioning how much Ann had talked about you being reliable was all the proof I needed that she was into you before she realized it herself.
I do gotta agree though that there are way too many scenes that don't integrate well with your relationship status in scenes. Hope next time they address that better.

The thing that makes me avoid Futaba is that I viewed her as my younger sister, her personality lends itself to that more than romance option. Sojiro is the Coffee Dad, MC is the Coffee Son, Futaba is the Coffee Daughter. We're a happy family.
Makoto eventually gets married into the Coffee Family and we can adopt Coffee Aficionado Haru as well.
Ryuji doesn't get invited to family events because he has the palate of a child.

Of course Ryuji wants to fuck Ann he's superficial and 'person with a hot bod' isn't entirely like a specific answer considering every girl in this game is a model besides like Futaba. But even if so, she's the only close girl friend he really has.

Makoto S-Link is downright mediocre but her interaction outside of it is pretty good, so I don't think she's a bad choice overall.

I wouldn't say you're wasting your time... but definitely don't go in expecting anything on the level of Tae or even Kawakami's S-Links. Once you get to the Eiko arc, that's all it is from there until you confess.
Haru is better S-Link wise but like Shengar says...
It's really a toss up.
Makoto gets more time to shine and is better written in-story. Haru & Takemi have better S-Links, and the former even ties into Leblanc & Sojiro to an extent if they're your jam.
After a year living at Leblanc's, I still don't know where the bathroom is.

Yea, it's hard to break Morgana's hart.
Another reason why Haru is the best is that she looks more serious about the relationship with MC than the others and
the only one with a realistic plan on how to continue being in a relationship with the MC after the events of the game.
