There has been 22+[any button] for DPs in other games (like Melty Blood, Arcueid has that.) but, it's just bizarre to see it gone from Ryu more than anything else.

Actually, if they market the Easy controls as the standard, and leave traditional controls in as an option ("competitive" controls) this could be a great idea.

Maybe but its not like SFV isn't absurdly watered down compared to SFIV.

SFV could have went the same route Killer Instinct did where the only special move motions are quarter circles, DP motions, and back-forward/down-up(no charge). Yet, SFV still kept 360 motions and charge motions.

Hearing that stuff like DP motions being gone makes me uneasy, but I will wait for the official movelists and mechanics explanations.

The fans' die hard dedication has allowed us to make another Marvel game, for the fans

So we're going to make it completely different and not what those fans want

I can say this right now: DP inputs are gone. Ryu’s Shoryuken is done with a down, down motion.

That's what we deserve for not sending SFV to such heights.

Super Smash Bros for Wii U (5.16 million), Smash 3DS (8.59 million), Mortal Kombat X (5 million).

SFV: 1.5 million.

Capcom learned the wrong thing and we will pay for it.

Capcom did it to themselves by releasing SF5 completely half-assed. What SF5 is right now and how MVC:I is because of how they released SF5 and continue to handle it, which is poor on every level.

RE7 yeah but SFV is hardly a positive
They just delayed a patch and character but announced like 3 different cloth dlcs the following days

They delayed a CFN update that was straight busted from the beta because they didn't wanna drop more hot garbage. Rather them do that then throw us yet another fucked up product. Additionally, Ed is free to play during the next beta while they work on their shit. That's a better Capcom than last year.

But when it comes to Marvel? Wew this is bad.

Isn't the idea some stuff/characters are balanced via inputs?

Like why the hell Guile gets those crazy Z motion supers.
Idk to be honest. Remembering ryu and wolverine in mvc3 dashed a lot to get in quick. Giving them hypers with down down motion was probably ment to keep wave dashing to a minimum. And with wolverine having that swiss cheese move was another way to keep him from plank dashing.
Then again those two are not my expertise in mvc3/umvc3

Shit the only reason Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, and others are more known now is because Marvel put them at the forefront of movies because they didn't have the rights to Spider-Man & X-Men.
Even despite that, Spider-Man remained one of the main Marvel characters. It's only now that Sony allowed Marvel to use Spider-Man in the MCU.

Of course, Marvel-Fox relations are starting to improve recently, but the license for this game was likely signed when the animosity was still strong. As such, I wouldn't get your hopes up for any Fox characters on Day 1 (& judging by what SneakersSO said, the 2017 Character Pass, too).

I'd be in the dick
Simplified inputs sounds really exciting. I've wanted to get into fighting games for a while so this could be a good starting point for me.

I had to spend hours in a training stage to even do some basic moves with Ryu in SFIV and still got destroyed when I tried to play otherwise. I want to get better by playing the game, not through forcing myself to train.

If the easy controls are the standard option, then there's literally no benefit to using the old motions if they're in as an option. Not at all.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Looks like y'all hardcore fighting fans have to wait for Mahvel 4.

To be fair the DP motions in MvC3 made Spider-Man kind of a pain in the ass to play, so maybe this will open him and others up a bit. I'm just not sold on the D,D motion as a replacement yet.

Tournaments will ban them as always. And I forget if Simple Mode in MVC3 is allowed online.

Doesn't matter if it ain't an option at all though.

Dragon Punch/Shoryuken motion.

So this may have been answered already but it's hard to find as my eyes rolled back into my head when I read that the dp motion is gone....

But can you say whether or not we should expect a lot of reveals up until September?
As in (without naming any characters or giving an exact number) should we expect a healthy base roster at launch or are we getting a smaller roster with dlc afterwards?

Happy to see my boy Chris is still in and looking like his RE5/6 self. Hopefully they got Roger Craig Smith to voice him again, though. Won't be the same without him.

This kinda sucks. I hated DP motions when I first got into UMvC3 (only fighting game I've really bothered learning) but I ended up being fine with them. Still, I fear that there are worse changes coming up.
