About Haru,

In February,
when everyone is confronting you the day after valentines, Here's what she says: " You could've just said you were busy... Even if you had to lie about what you were doing..."

It's like she says she's okay if you're cheating on her, just don't break poor Haru's heart. She was ready to accept your polygamous self as long as it meant you wouldn't abandon her.

Damn.

I don't know why people are surprised all of the firm that following the Scumbag route gets punished in game.

Harem Anime doesn't mean you get to date every girl. Harem Anime means every girl wants your dick but you either choose one at the end and end it, or you don't choose any girl.

Well for one thing it's kinda new to Persona (coming in in Golden) and for another it's the opposite of what P3 literally forced you to do to do a full Slink run.

Also you're kinda wrong with your strict classification of harem anime. The Tenchi-verse tends to marry them all as a solution for one.

I have to admit it is kinda fitting though since you're cheating on all of them.

Still going to do it on my first run through.

tenchi is a very particular example of an old era. Most modern harem anime nowadays has the protagonist being a complete idiot who can't read a room and never chooses a girl. Or only chooses one at the very end and the rest may continue chasing him.

Finished my vanilla run of P5 last night after 120 hours on hard. After the lengthy ending, all I have to say is that I'm glad I chose Makoto as my new anime waifu. Still best Persona girl imo!

No, i've said it years ago in the anime thread , but harem anime doesn't mean that the MC has to choose , that's the fake ones.

There are harem anime where the MC keep all , it's not that rare. P5 just didn't go that route , that's all

My hard playthrough was 120 hours as well.

Not sure if I'd put any P5 girl above Rise or Mitsuru just yet, but then again I'm not finished just yet either.

I'm gonna have to think on this... Hmm.

Haru if she wasn't so late would be a top persona girl

Yeah, the only reason I find it hard to stick with her is that the game makes absolutely zero attempt to make her feel important in the main story.

Example: Shortly after starting to date her on that file, I played through the first part of
Shido
's palace, and it was all Makoto all the time for story scenes. It's like this for most scenes after getting her.

I just finished Ann's S. Link. The only time I was ever this apathetic about a romance was with the drama club chick in 4. This felt so unnatural. It came out of nowhere. When she said she loved me I literally said "what the fuck was that" out loud. It almost feels like you're not intended to romance her. Kawakami on the other hand was great. Just finished her too. I'm loving these adult Confidants. Let's see of Chihaya keeps up the trend.

How is she not that nice

Seem a lot of people hold a grudge with her being a nuisance prior to her recruitment and dropping truth bombs to the youngster. I've always enjoyed the authoritative woman hence i chose mitsuru and naoto from their respective game. Shame we didn't have a wacky character like Elizabeth. Closest we got was futaba and she's family. Can't creep on family.

Between
hitting her friend
, bossing everyone around, her short temper, and telling you you're not attractive enough to pretend to be her boyfriend?

Yeah, she's, uh, not that nice. I do like her design though.

I mean, really? Her friend was being a dick, can't really fault Makoto for finally losing her temper since words weren't getting through to her.

Bossing people around, I can't get mad at it if since she generally knows what's she's talking about, and doesn't say it in some snotty way that attempts to belittle everyone. She's Queen for a reason.

Short temper, no, not really. Throughout the entire game and S-Link they make it pretty clear that she'll bite her tongue for a good while before finally saying what's on her mind, despite people talking shit about her. It's only after joining that she's a bit less reliant on her filter.

As for the last one, that was her friend I'm pretty sure. I mean, I guess she could've fought a little harder to have you join her,
but whatever.

--

I'm surprised you didn't mention the one "mean" thing I ever felt Makoto did, which was where she basically said she didn't see the value in hanging out with me. (i.e. Up that knowledge)

That just reinforces my idea that Ann should hook up with Ryuji :D

Putting these two quotes next to each other is amusing.

Also, just fyi, her friend says you're not attractive enough, and she says something along the lines of "I'm inclined to agree. You do always look a little disheveled".

She's not overly nice.

But that's why you know it's worth romancing her. Heck mitsuru wouldn't bat an eye if you didn't ace your exams and also have genius intellect. You know it's best girl when best girl needs to be impressed.

I'm thinking the arcanas of Haru and Makoto are wrong, Makoto would be a better Empress and Haru a better Priestess imo.

Maybe they decided to do it this way to avoid the Fukka and Mitsuru comparisons, but come on, Makoto IS Empress

Mitsuru is nothing like Makoto though.

Makoto is way nicer, yes, but the whole naive angle is the same and she plays the exact same role in the team. Haru not so much, but she's the super nice girl. She's a botanist ffs, botanist and good girl should be Priestess by definition xD

I'm going to be honest, I don't know anything about tarot, so I'll definitely agree, hahaha.

What... what did you just say about Mitsuru?

Great design. Veeeeery shallow and silly characterisation.

Most of P3's characters are fun, but dumb and shallow. Mitsuru, Akihiko, Fuuka and Shinji (pre-P3P) are the worst offenders.

Mitsuru's character doesn't even compare to Makoto's. Different league.

Where's this originally from? xD

So, there is a person. I've been going to some kind of weird tower among other places with her and put my life on the line. We are part of the same team. I haven't called her out for using Marin Karin when I needed a Heal.

And yet, when I say, "hey how is going on, wanna go drink some coffee? It'd be nice to know each other a bit", she stares at me, looking at a public board with disinterest. You didn't manage to get the top spot in the midterms. Then she stares back at you, says no, and asks you to come back when you prove you are worth her time.

You know what I will say? Thanks but no thanks. And take care of that Dark Hour thing by yourself until you learn how to be kind with those that are trying to clean your family's company fuck up.

Bye.

I mean, some Social Requirements were dumb. Like Makoto wanting 5 points in Charm to past level 5. But the 3 party girls in P3 asking you max stats in order to start their SL was dreadful. People should show some interest in those that are supposed to cover your back, seriously.

I'm on 10/7. How many Confidants can I max out before the game ends assuming the ones remaining are level 2? I know it's hard to say but an estimation would be cool. I need to know if I should even bother with some of them this playthrough.

More like social link stat blocking is a gameplay mechanic that Atlus keeps pushing even though its annoying. A social link requiring max stats is criminal yet Atlus keeps doing it. There's nothing that bad about a social link stat block IF it's only at like level 2 or 3. But anything over that is annoying as hell. It's a problem in the Persona games that they really need to address.

I haven't beat the game yet but keep doing Confidants. Lol they all offer awesome gameplay techniques.

I just want to say...

Thank fuck I managed to figure how to continue the link with Sadayo Kawakami after the 'introduction'.

You have to defend her from being talked down to by another teacher in the school corridor, which happens on particular days after the flyer invite.
The info I found online to progress with her barely mentions this.

I remember her saying
at the beginning that she thinks you were sent by this other teacher that was harassing her and that you should go to see her at her office after class the next day, no?

I can't remember. Given how the story progresses and eats up days, I was worried I messed up the opportunity, since all I could find online was
to use the public phone in Cafe Leblanc
. I had to dig through tons of comments to figure there was a in-between part
to learn her phone number
.

Do you have the Fortune arcana at 7?

Thanks for the info. LMAO at both versions

There were some twitter links a few pages back with the same scene but Sae as the Captain. No video though.

Maybe I'm just salty at how upfront Persona 3 SL were in that sense. I mean, party members are usually the main attraction, the people you want to max the most. Yet, P3 doesn't allow you to hang out with half the SEES members and the ones that actually have SL are behind huge statblocks.

P6 definitely needs to completely overhaul the romance system because honestly the romance in P5 is overwhelmingly trash. For such a big selling point (don't pretend it isn't) it's baffling how bad it is.

- Outside of a few exceptions where the girls display interest beforehand (Chihaya, Futaba, I guess Haru) the romance "confirmation" is always awkward where the girl suddenly admits that she totally likes/love you.

- The romance branching path is barely anything, basically being identical to a regular rank 10 except now with some extra dialogue about how much they love you or whatever.

- The "dates" are like a minute long and basically consist of all the girls telling you how much they love you/are nervous about being alone with you. It's the worst kind of waifu bait.

- As everyone says, the lack of any story interactions being affected by dating a character is really annoying. Maybe they could make acquiring a harem a challenge and set up "flags" that you need to work around by dating certain girls at certain times.

- They need to set the romance flags earlier, at like rank 5 or something. To prevent "locking in" if there's someone you like more later they could actually let you break up with girls.

I think my favorite romance in the game (despite the ethical issues obviously lol) is Kawakami purely because it's the only one that isn't just "oh you like me? I like you too!" and actually feels like it requires some work to confirm even if I don't think it's possible to fail the romance at rank 10.

The harem scene is the only good part of romance in this game tbh, it's absolutely hilarious.
