Speaking of options, the guy that bought my Boxster back in the day did not get heated seats. I mean, wtf?

Was it originally purchased in a warmer climate? I live somewhere warm and have never used the heated seats in any of my cars. In fact 2 of my cars don't even have a working heater and I'll probably never bother to fix it.

The used 981 2.7 Boxster that my dad bought a year ago (and sold again fortunately) was amaranth red, red top, luxor beige interior, and nothing else it was completely empty in options but it somehow had heated steering wheel. No heated seats, no bluetooth connectivity for playing music, no usb, no navigation, no nothing. Who buys a Boxster and specs out only the heated steering wheel lol? I convinced him to sell it early due to the 718 coming out it was going to lose value and the lock of options didn't help. He almost sold it back as much as he bought it.

maybe he accidentally picked that option? Because that is kinda odd.

Guys go see this car when you have time, The interior is phenomenal, and the drive is amazing.

The 2.0 280Hp RWD version is just phenomenal. Its just out of my price range. :(

Same here, upper 20's most of the time. The car has a small gas tank so yes, 300 miles and it's time to fill up again but the actual miles per gallon is pretty good for a sports car. For the sports cars that I have owned it is the best or second best mileage (2.7l Boxster, 3.7l G37, 3.0l 128i, 5.0l Mustang, 2.5l Spec-V Sentra 1st gen, etc.) out of the entire group.

It's also economical in that it doesn't break down (hello, BMW) the insurance is fairly inexpensive for a pure sports car and it didn't cost all that much money to actually purchase. Total cost to own is down near the bottom of the sports cars that I have owned.

Thanks man. I want the 124 Abarth. I think i will end up getting it.

I saw a new Panamera 4S today parked next to me while I was at the doc's.

Woof.

Too sexy.

Brought home my 2014 GLI Edition 30, finally! Loving it so far, it's so much fun to drive and I love the noise it makes. Not going to get the APR stage 1 though, it's a CPO and I already talked to the head mechanic at the dealership. He doesn't care but he said that on any of the 10k services they have to scan the ECU and VW can tell if it's been modified. Even if it was reverted back to stock programming. When they happens, they can revoke a warranty repair. He said just do bolt ons for now, intake and cat back. Oh well, 2 years isn't long to wait.
Look into piggybacks, I don't know if the GLI with the older gen engine has the options the MK7 GTI/Rs do, but JB4 or Neuspeed make some good piggybacks that put out close to APR Stage 1 power, are removable and undetectable. I love the look of those GLI's, specially with the lighting package (you should get some replica LEDs!)

Nice! Yeah it'd get a td1 flag and they'd know. Eh, it really depends on how fucky the dealer is. Some dealers are okay with mods and don't make a fuzz about it. My car was modded and flagged but I still got warranty work done on the car.

Thank you for the idea, seems like this might be a good alternative in the meantime.

I was looking on APRs website and there's a VW dealer about 2 hours away that is a APR dealer also. If only they were closer...might be worth a call to see what they have to say though.

Yeah, just check it out if you want. I think the 2014 GLI has the same engine as the mk6 gti and that supports Cobb and the Neuspeed power module. Don't know if there's official support for the GLI though.

Man, the VAG guys are coming out of the woodwork this week.

I'd go for a stage 2 apr tune on my S5 but the exhaust is so god damn weak. It's plenty fast stock in my opinion, it just takes off in the most undramatic fashion. You could be doing 0-60 in 4 seconds and no one would even know cause they didn't hear a thing.

Love it! The GTI gets all the press but the GLI is arguably sexier and even more of a sleeper, which I like. Enjoy it!

That is just bizarre! My Boxster had pretty basic options but did have heated seats (which even in North Georgia were great on cold mornings). Someone had to have ordered it like that, someone with chronically cold hands...

So the weather has been cold, but I'm still driving the "summer fun" car around...

Waiting on one last suspension bit to arrive, and then I can throw it all on and fit the new rims!

I really want a set of gold enki RPF1s but damn they are expensive. :(

I just rebuilt a set up Work three piece rims... I feel your expensive pain...

Plus wheel prices keep going up. I was looking at a set of work emotions for my volvo, but the cheapest I can find is like $400/wheel. I'm pretty sure not too long ago they were $100/wheel less.

Doesn't help volvo uses an uncommon bolt pattern so I pretty much have to buy expensive wheels anyway. There's not many companies that do custom bolt patterns on cheap wheels.

I really don't want to spend $2k on wheels and tires. Though if I do, I'll just end up getting 2 or 3 peice wheels.

Id trade my heated seats for a heated wheel.

Yeah, the RPF1s that are 15x7 are up to like 170 bucks a wheel. I remember them being like half of that when I had my NA.

I'm doing a video for a car dealership in upstate New York right now and my god this guy is a fncking sleazebag.

During the interview when the interviewer asked him about the types of cars they sell, he specifically goes out of his way to say this: "we also have economy cars for the people who don't make a lot of money..."

I showed that part to my boss and she's like just cut that part out even though we probably should keep it lol.

Later on, within a minute he says that they buy brand new cars weekly then goes on to say that they only sell used cars. I'm like whaaa..?

The best part though? He's doing the interview right next to a Lexus ES when you can clearly see an S-class in the parking lot behind him.

Wish I could show y'all this shit but I'm still editing it and it's probably not gonna go live for another month.

Sounds sleazy for sure...what kind of video are you doing? Youtube review?

And the kicker is...the upcoming GT4 is a N/A flat six with a detuned GT3 engine(rumored.) What a damn shame. If only they never turned the cayman into a 4 pot.

I think that review is a fair assessment. The performance of the new 718 is amazing, but the sound and emotion it evokes is a bit different from the 981 generation. I thought the 981 generation was just right, maybe a little slower than I wished, but the sound made up for it. However, the 718 changes that and I think it's actually way too fast. The trade off of sound can be felt. I can't drive the 718 anywhere close to its limits on any roads or highways around me unless I'm on track so I'm constantly just driving casually instead of eating up corners at top speeds (which is probably better for my long term survival) but at slow speeds the sports exhaust doesn't sound as amazing as the 981's range of exhaust notes.

But at the end of the day, I love the 718. I think it's a phenomenal sports car deserving of the Porsche crest and 718 namesake. Whereas the 981 may be a little slower, the 718 is a complete upgrade in performance, but the trade of sound can be disappointing.

2ND time the guy who is supposed to tint my windows cancels on me. I'd go somewhere else but he's charging me 180 for all the windows and he does good work. Lol. Said he'd be available tomorrow so let's wait and see.

In 5-10 years I wonder if 981 prices will be close to or above 718 prices. Will be really interesting to see how the 4 bangers hold their value.

Got the stage 1 APR tune done on the rs7 93 octane supposedly gives 674hp. I'm inclined to believe it. From a dig the car is brutal. I haven't ever felt this kind of acceleration besides modded GTRs and a turbo s I drove once. On a roll on the freeway the car rips too. Idk if I will go stage 2 for a while or ever. Next up is some sway bars and HRE wheels.

The car drives as stock until you get on it. A perfect daily driver.

I saw a Jaguar F type $2,000 down $400 per month

FTYPE!!!!!!!!!!

I cant tell:

Its sticker is $64,483

Cal Auto group id post a link, but I'm not sure if thats frowned upon, but you can google it.

You can post links for that.

It's also a base V6. But you're not reading a ton of fine print, I'd imagine.

Money says: it's a loooow mileage lease, like 5K or 7K a year. $2000 + taxes + bank fees, etc.

Question for y'all...

Should I spend about $1K to swap my springs and do a 100k mile refresh of my Miata(tranny and diff fluid, coolant flush, and more) or should I save that money to put into whatever car I'm buying later this year?

I've been thinking about this ever since I started this new gig and after a month of driving 60 miles a day, it's actually not that bad at all. The commute is actually enjoyable(enjoyable in that I don't want to kill myself every time I'm stuck in traffic lol), in terms of driving performance, I think it's still pretty top notch especially for a car with 100k miles and more importantly, I kinda feel like I can get at least 50k more miles out of my NC.

I know I keep flip-flopping back and forth this idea but I guess I'm just being reasonable these days lol. Like I can definitely get an ND or Si in a few months and I'll be perfectly happy but I sorta get the feeling that I'll still be fine with my NC.

Shit, maybe I'm actually growing up and turning into an adult??

Sounds sleazy for sure...what kind of video are you doing? Youtube review?

The video isn't anything special, just short clips for their marketing campaign that my work is managing. I actually volunteered to edit their videos since it's about cars and they have a cool Audi TT S-line with a stick as one of the b-roll footage, I just didn't know that sales would be sleazy lol. Thankfully, these projects are super short and I'm moving on another project after lunch tomorrow.

If you're Miata is still putting a smile on your face and is still doing everything that you would like it to do then I say go for the 100k refresh. Compared to what you would be spending on a new car that maintenance is a very small amount and if you decide to let the NC go in a year (or whenever) then having a well maintained car will help you get it sold more quickly.

Dang... What sizes were sub $100?! I remember when you could get a set of 18" for like $1200 US... Now it's $2K. It's even worse now that people are rebuilding the classics so even sourcing rims with crappy offsets from Japan is $1000 easy.

Now this is a real car!
Looks suspiciously like it doesn't always go in a straight line, too.

Shhhh... The racing bucket and harness is totally for show...

TOTALLY HAHA!

Not less than $100, but $100 less than they are now. I probably could have worded that better. The SSR's I bought for my S13 were like $500/wheel. Now according to the SSR website, similar wheels would be like $700/wheel.

But yeah, I'm glad I bought some of my wheels when I did. And also I regret selling some for the prices I did.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
So the BMW 2 series / M2 facelift is revealed and they updated the whole interior. That is a very surprising change to see, wasn't expecting that. Very subtle facelift on the outside though

Really surprised the M2 is already getting a refresh. Pretty crazy.

If it were just a tiiiiiiny bit bigger, it'd be on my list for "next car." The rumored 4-door M2 actually interests me a fair bit. The nice thing about the M2 is it has about four options - and is well equipped pretty much at base price. It's easy to keep it under $60K.

So I finally test drove a F80 M3 DCT, and as accurately predicted by one of the posters here after my Camaro SS test drive, I wasn't thrilled. Again, I can't pinpoint what it is exactly I didn't like, but it just wasn't for me. The engine noise/exhaust wasn't terribly special either. Guess I won't look at these cars with envy anymore.

Yeah I'm flirting with the idea of a refresh then do some cool stuff with it... like really dive deep into mods that still keep it's daily drivability. I was thinking of going FI but as this is my only car, I really need to keep it as reliable as possible so that's kinda off the table for now.

The other semi-new plan is that I need to test drive the WRX as I feel like it's the "bang for your buck" car, especially when you can find a CPO example that's under $20K. The idea is that since I've had an econobox before and a light RWD sports car, it might be time for me to experience a stupid fast car. But we'll see... I've got a few months to figure this stuff out anyway. I'm just throwing out ideas so I can see if I'm missing something or not.

Looking to buy a new daily in 3-4 months. Im gonna wait for the Si to come out as well as wait on news of the 2018 BRZ to see if its worth. Another distant option is a mint S2000, but not sure if thats worth is for a daily.

Told you. The M2 is more special to drive and has a much better exhaust note.

Well the M2 had to be refreshed due to the 2 Series being refreshed which is about time. It's been 4 years since it's been released so it's normal. There will be no 4 door M2, at least not for this generation and while the car looks small, there is space in the back for adults. My fat and average height friends fit without a problem.
