Risk of Rain: Should I go PS4 or PSV with this one?

I usually have a good idea for which platform a buy a game but I'm drawing a blank here. Any obvious flaws or recommendations here? "Looks stunning on OLED", "Enjoy it on the big screen if you can"....anything like that?

I played it until my Vita ran out of charge so maybe PS4 lol?

I'm wondering if I should do both vita or one each. Plays amazing on vita.

This thread moves so fast so I'm sorry if I missed it. Has there been any information about whether the Switch version of Wonderboy: The Dragon's Trap will get a physical release? Last I saw, LRG was not able to do Switch carts.

There has been no Switch physical release news from LRG, ASW, or any other publisher yet.

Since I know this is the catch-all limited editions thread and people adore the game, Indiebox's June release is gonna be Hollow Knight. Color me stoked.

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Yayyyyyyy Dariusburst \o/

$10 cheaper than I was expecting too.

So, there's now a string of games I'm interested in and I'm thinking of using hold shipping for the first time. Risk of Rain -> Dariusburst -> Oceanhorn. I assume Salt & Sanctuary may be soonish too.

So questions - I pay the $5 domestic shipping every time, right, then pay $15 (or more) international shipping once I want to order them to my country?

How many games pushes the price of the shipping up?

And how many games can be held before I have to ship them out?

And how long can they be held for?

Cheers for anyone attempting to answer any of these.

Yep that's how it works, no amount will push the shipping up as the $5.50 you pay for domestic each time should cover extra weight on shipping. You can hold as many games as you want unless you start to build a ridiculous back pile (at which point we'll contact you). You can hold them here as long as you like.

Afaik you pay 5 to 7$ for each held order and then 15 to 22$ when you're ready to release them (depending on the size of your last order).
Edit : well someone was faster than me ! Overall this new system is pretty much flawless from a consumer point of view, I hope it is not too complex for you LRG.

I wonder if we'll see Fault Milestone One soon as well. I remember it was supposed to be ready in may/june if everything went well :)

Also I think one of the kickstarted game was planned to be released around this period initially...

Awesome. Will buy, no question.

$50 though? $60 was the digital price for PS4, but the digital price for Vita is $40. Oh well. I've cut back on buying releases anyway.

Yeah but LRG usually bills the digital price +$10. The PS4 version being the same price was an exception, we're back to normal :)

Thanks for responses. Sounds suitable to me, I'll probably hold them until after Oceanhorn releases and then see what's heading out after that.!

I read that as "LRG will continue to overcharge Vita owners where possible and make exceptions for PS4 versions where possible since it'd be impossible to sell at high price"

If they can make exception for PS4 ver then I see no reason why can't this be an exception too. But they know this will quickly at whatever price and it's a good business for them with absolute no risk.

Eh, cartridge costs are much higher than disc costs, even if costs for both are relatively low. There may be some additional expense for Vita games as well, none of us here really know. They also sold Ray Gigant for $40, the same price it retails for on PSN, so this may have been a decision from the Japanese publisher. If you don't want to buy it due to price, that's understandable, but I don't buy into this narrative that they are trying to screw over Vita owners.

Btw is there any additional DLC released for Dariusburst? I'm on AU PSN so won't be able to purchase on the NA store.

There are 15 different dlcs for the game, each containing themed levels from various other shmups and then a ship from said games as well. It is pretty significant extra content.

They also sold Ray Gigant for $40, the same price it retails for on PSN.

It actually launched at $30 on PSN.

You wouldn't be happy if they gave it away for free and it still didn't have the dlc added with it. Your complaints are honestly getting annoying at this point, considering you know by now how shit works. They aren't a charity and they sure as hell aren't going to sell something off that they'd lose money on, which they would by selling the Vita version at cost.

Ray Gigant was $30, not $40 on PSN.

I remember LRG saying something along the lines of that they do this to bring a complete package with patches and/or DLC for 'perserving'. While I'm not certain this version includes any DLC or that it'll be patched to latest version on cart, that has certainly been less of thing now.

Why didn't they sign the Vita version back when they signed PS4 version again?

My bad, I misremembered. Might be partly due to the small print runs requiring a slightly higher price to be profitable for LRG and the publisher. I think they kept Darius PS4 capped at $60 because they know that no one will buy a standard copy of a game for higher than max retail, so $60 is the ceiling for everything. The Vita version is still cheaper for the same game, I don't really see it being a big issue.

Oh! I hadn't realized that. Isn't that an odd choice, overlooking the Vita version in the territory it's performed the best in? :p

It's massively bizarre. I suspect the PS4 version didn't do so well in Japan despite a world-class and pricey localization, so the parties involved went "eh" and passed on DotT/Full Throttle.

This is why a physical Vita release of all three would be all kinds of amazing.

Another physical Vita pack I'd love to own as a JP regioner would be Bastion and Transistor. Only Transistor released in Japan, and again it was PS4 only.

Glad I didn't break down and buy the PS4 version, because this is really what my heart wanted.

Transistor is a PS4 exclusive.

I don't think it was ever announced.

Supergiant's own page showed it running on PSV. Huh...

Oh well. I prefer Bastion anyway.

Edit: Oh wow, blame sleep deprivation... I was looking at the Bastion page. Carry on!
