Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

Need some help. Just installed Dolphin (dolphin -master- 5.0-508apk) on my Nvidia Shield Tv (16 gb 2015). I have some ISOs I put on a USB drive which is plugged into Nvdia Shield. I click add folder inside Dolphin but I cant seem to get to my folder with the games. There is no option to "move up one level" in upper right corner (3 dots) to search more. any suggestions?

Are you able to save data on netplay? There's an option "Write to memcard/SD card" on the bottom of the netplay window, so does that enable it? If so, is it automatic that the file gets read next time you load, granted you have the same save file?

Trying to play/watch some games with a friend over netplay.

Did Dolphin devs ever write a blog post about Wii and Gamecube similarities and how easy/hard it was to get Wii support up and running?

I don't believe there has been any dedicated article published on the topic. Wii support was added years before they started their development blog. You can probably find various information in the other blog posts they have written though.

Haven't touched Dolphin in a few years and I've been dying to replay Xenoblade Chronicle. Downloaded the newest nightly, added some HD textures, and fired that baby up. Holy hell this game looks gorgeous.

They never shut it down since unlike 3DS Wii U eShop didn't elevate Wii Shop titles to be available directly from there. I imagine that this has been correlated to Virtual Console getting rebooted.

I am currently somewhat gambling with those closings, I don't know whether I should purchase PSP, PS3 or Wii Shop titles first... well, PS3 being shut off before PSP would be very weird, but you never know.

I made a mistake...started Xenoblade Chronicle with my DSP Sound Engine as LLE instead of HLE. It is causing me issues with performance, but when I switch to HLE and try to load my save state Dolphin tells me it can't load a save state from another Dolphin version or some such. Is there any way around or am I screwed to have to restart?

Is there any reason in particular to not use the game's own save system instead of a savestate here?

Even if I used the game own save system, wouldn't I have to load up a save state that the main screen, then load from the game's own save? Or is that way wrong?

I just tried deleting the config folder and restarted from scratch, but my save state still says same thing. Says my save state was made from Dolphin version 5.0-2981, which is frustrating because that's what I'm using.

Game saves should always work. Saved states on the other hand have a lot of fickle dependencies as they save the whole emulated system's state. Switch to game saves.

I guess I didn't realize I could actually utilize game saves without save states. Makes sense though now that I think about it...I'll definitely do this from now on.

I'm tryin to get TP GC version to run in widescreen and I can't get it to work.. Anyone else have a step by step solution? I put a widescreen AR code in and selected it but still nothing. Not sure what else I could maybe try.

Did you tick "Enable Cheats" in the settings?

I'll double check, I've used dolphin before but lightly... Just now learning more of the ins and outs and most likely no I never clicked it. But I'll find it tomorrow, I'll be pretty happy if that gets me going.

Also can I switch pushing forward on right analog for first person mode to clicking the right analog?

Hi all,

Please is possible dump specific textures via dolphin? Every time when I try dump textures there are same textures in "dump/textures/XY" and not textures which I need. I want do HQ buttons for Metroid Prime (GC version ) but I have only A,B and Y... hmm?

Wait, does the Wind Waker Widescreen AR code stretch the game or am I an idiot? What would be the point of a 16:9 mode then?

edit: Nevermind, it just stretches the HUD which led me to believe everything was stretched. Idiot confirmed.

Incidentally there are custom textures that solve this issue.

Do you have a link to them? Hypatia's HD texture pack doesn't have 16:9 corrected HUD textures.

Alternatively, you can use this Gecko code which doesn't stretch the HUD, but keeps it centered instead.

I'm trying to make a new hud with a 16: 9 aspect ratio. Some buttons are easy to do, but X, Y are transparent because they use the same texture and it's hard to make them the same when they are turned to another side. Icons of things are easy to edit (hypatia textures). I have adjusted the heart and icon of the binoculars (hypatia). It's a lot of work. I do not know if I should continue. Inventory and menu are not important, but the deformed hud spoils the atmosphere

and I have one question. I use dds plugin for Gimp but after I save texture in dds format dolphin do not load my textures. Only png works. Know someone why do not works dds from Gimp in Dolphin?

The few months after a new release are usually pretty eventful. A lot of the PRs getting merged recently are substantial re-writes so while exciting don't expect much stability just yet. Give it 6 more months and you will have a pretty great release.

I'm thinking of buying a laptop primarily to run Dolphin. Budget is $1500.

Any suggestions/links? I would love high compatibility and might be able to go a bit higher.

Bonus points if it can emulate PS2 games too. Focus is Dolphin though.

This should do well. It's the fastest CPU you can currently get in a laptop, and the GPU is good enough for just about any other PC game you might want to run.

You don't need a powerful machine to run dolphin. My old Lenovo i7/660m ran everything fine. I'd imagine any i5 with a gtx 1050 would kill any Dolphin game.

Yeah, something with an i5 close to 3GHz should be ok, since Dolphin doesn't really use more than 2 cores or threads. A 1050 would also allow 3xIR with just about any extra enhancements.

Any suggestions with links then?

I'm currently running a Vaio circa 2011, and it can run some games at full frame rates but not most.

Looking to get a laptop also. My newest computer is from 2004..I was just about ready to pull the trigger on that Acer I linked, but would the MSI from newegg be a better purchase? I mainly care about dolphin, then ps2, and then running steam.

Maybe this one? $200 cheaper...

Check out the Gaming Laptop thread. Read the "I need a laptop" instructions in the OP, mention emulation, and you'll get something good.
