Owlboy is coming to Nintendo Switch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp3aUyEEyWY
At least that's what I gather from this video.
Also shows some footage of Rime on Switch
and it doesn't look good, though it might be compression. Footage a minute in
Shows up here
Also shown:
YIIK: A Post Modern RPG
Steam World Dig 2
GoNNER
Dusty Raging Fist
Back Slash
WarGroove
Cave Story
Hollow Knight
and more
New stuff besides Owlboy:
- Cat Quest
- Backslash
- L.F.O. Lost Future Omega
- She Remembered Caterpillars
- YIIK
- Nine Parchments

I think the games with Japanese titles before and after Mighty Gunvolt Burst are new as well

Awesome. I almost bought it on Humble Bundle this week, but I figured it would eventually come to consoles, so I didn't get it. It'll cost me more, but I just never play games on PC.

Literally just bought it yesterday in the Humble Bundle. Oh well, i'll double dip.

Simon is probably the best pixel artist around these days, I'll gladly support these guys in any way I can.

Not sure what op means it doesn't look good. It still looks totally awesome to me.

Almost bought it on humblebundle as well. Luckily I hold off for the console version.

I don't think that's the only announcement from that video. Like I know YIIK hasn't been announced for Switch before this, but I'm not sure about some of the other stuff.

That's stock footage of Rime we've seen before. Don't think it specifies that it's actually running on Switch there.

LOL, this is another "Xbox 360 games look worse when you say they're running on the Wii U" case, isn't it?

Also, it's weird how Switch games seem to be announced at random. I wonder how many games are actually in development that will be announced when Nintendo (presumably) feels like it or lets devs

You sure? It does look like it's missing some lighting/shading or something.
I may very well be wrong. I just recalled seeing those exact scenes in a trailer before. If it is running on Switch, color me surprised. It looks better than I thought it would.

YIIK was basically confirmed on the team's Facebook/Twitter when they asked people interested in the Wii U version if they would prefer they make the 'Switch'.

maybe tomorrow it rains
Cool, definitely holding out on this until I have a Switch. I prefer playing 2D platformers on a handheld.

Was expected to see this in the last Nindies Direct

Anyway, I'm in day 1

I need a date on Overcooked, and why didn't they show Pocket Rumble?

Also a few other games here that I don't *think* were previously announced for Switch (Nine Parchments, Cat Quest, YIIK).

Yep, beat me to it, but Cat Quest was just announced a few days ago as part of Digipen Game Studios.

Also games like She Remembered Caterpillars (cute name).

Also Nine Parchments is from Frozenbyte. Why did Has Been Heroes get a retail release and not this which looks WAY better? :( Seriously, HBH looked BLEH for the team behind Trine and Nine Parchments. Apparently it didn't review well either didn't it?

I think the puzzle game after after Mighty Gunvolt Burst is new as well

There were a lot of games in there I did not recognize or realize were coming to Switch. Perhaps a new Nindies presentation will get assembled for a pre-E3 set of announcements. A few of those looked quite good and had me intrigued. I really like the indie lineup Switch is building.

Switch is getting some absolutely fantastic releases for portable gaming. I'm pretty dang happy with it right now

Rime looks sub-native rez, frame rate isn't bad however. I could be wrong, but it doesn't look like the footage we've seen of it before. Shame if that is it, but it'll likely still be a great game for portable regardless.

Owlboy is a no brainer of course.

I think we're in a post launch scramble of, 'oh shit...this thing is a success.'

Indies are probably more able to react quicker than a larger publisher as their sales goals are probably much lower. (This isn't a knock against the Switch either, I think stuff like a Dark Souls Trilogy could sell gangbusters.) just that there's much less risk involved with indie developers.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
