Well that's where much of my frustration stems from. Bungie should have blown us the fuck away today. I feel think that if they had the content in the first place, they would have.

So yeah, I'm worried. Press sneak fuck did mention that the game was fully rebooted again just prior RoI release.

All I want is for Bungie to show me that my worry is unfounded and they have everything under control. I was already pissed a month ago with the nonsense CGI "reveal," today's presentation was supposed to deliver the goods.

Well I mean, they've got a finite amount of time to work with, plus they can't show too much because the people at the event can only record so much.

Besides they're never going to show us like 7 story missions in one go. Also keep in mind that there's E3 coming up where there'll be more info and media to cover the game as well as Bungie's usual livestream drip feeds up until the game launches.

Oh and there's the beta (and maybe an early alpha?) in June/July to look forward to. There's plenty of time to reveal more. Can't do it all in one hour.

Watched that new strike.

Honestly, they could probably make a 360/ps3 port if they wanted. Get some extra people who haven't converted yet to current gen.

How much do we want to bet they'll have an expansion that sells us D1 content and locations some time in the future?

That'll be the free "new content" provided by the live team, and dudes like Xur-avatar above you will praise them for it.

The first gameplay reveal should have shown me what was different. They say they've made exploration fun and added a bunch of shit to do in the world. Um, show me that shit! That's like the number 1 complaint everyone had about D1. Why the fuck would you show anything besides that in your first reveal? The fact that they didn't makes me think that the content is lackluster and half-assed. Otherwise... they'd have shown some of it.

I'm honestly just glad they didn't REDO THE ENTIRE GAME like they did with Halo.

Halo 2 "let's throw out everything that made the first game great"
Halo 3 "let's make the last game but slower"
Halo Reach "let's try something completely new"

And then 343 followed them.

If Destiny sequels are going to be "safe", I'll take them.

👌

Good luck getting all that to fit on 512MB RAM. They dropped PS3/360 last year for a reason.

I'm going to bed because there's some mental gymnastics going on in here that'll give me a headache. :s

I like how familiar the UI is tbh

It feels like a proper sequel and not some rebooted game where everything is completely different and not at all like what I enjoyed so much about the first game.

Have you watched any of the streamer vids of the strike or PvP? They didn't even tweak the UI. Everything looks like new maps/modes added to the base game. Looks identical.

So the game looks like Destiny? Shocker.

Ok...

Not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing that can't run on a 360 that Destiny 1 did.

Looks feasible to me. Obviously not at 1080p. I think it could work.

No. They couldn't. And the game would be worse for it. Several features announced today wouldn't make it.

Ohh? Like?

Because I played that strike on my ps3.

Just saying, could be good for people like my bro who plays on ps3. Destiny 2 looks feasible on last gen right now.

I'm really surprised that people are upset with the UI staying the same. Destiny has one of the best UIs ever.

Watching more footage... and my excitement is really waning. The game really does look so similar to the first game. The weapon slot and ability/super changes are all pretty huge, but I dunno, I still feel underwhelmed. I watched the footage of the strike and I'm just like... this looks like something I've already played into the ground. And seriously, hearing the same old tired ghost dialogue was down right depressing. I can already feel myself getting sick of hearing him repeat his inane quips over and over and over.

I dunno. When I think about all the announcements today it sounds great, but then I watch footage and I'm like... that's it?

You realize one planet is larger than all of the original destiny right? Also more cutscenes, and I'll assume way more dialogue.

Move along.

They really need to have another class or something that they are saving for E3 or something. I will definitely still buy it because i love Destiny but man this legit looks like an expansion to the first its so damn similar, i feel like we are just paying to restart with new maps etc..

as someone that has never played destiny other than betas, this looked pretty good overall, will never love the smash downs and other 3rd person abilities that much though

This reminds me of any given MMO thread.

You get people saying "This looks exactly the same" because the base gameplay is the same, missing the point.

Meanwhile the people who actually play the game actually understand the changes made and how they alter the game.

I put nearly 1000 hours in. So...

It's great, but when I first saw new screenshots of the menu, my first thought was "Wait, is this from the first game?" Not really the kind of impression you want from a sequel.

such a dismissive post. you have plenty of people here who play the game and understand the changes made and how they supposedly change the game, that are completely underwhelmed

that logic is so disappointing

it's a new game why wouldn't it have new things
Why change things just for the sake of change?

Oh, if that's the kind of "new" we're talking about, yeah I agree. I'm cool with the general structure, but I do wish it had more aesthetic difference.

Because there is more to game development than what "looks" feasible to your eyes.

They would need a development team to work on two versions of this game for two dead consoles, something no one is doing. Thinking there is anything remotely logical about making this game for PS3/360 when it would sell like complete shit is silly.

Because I played that strike on my ps3. .

Ah, so you're trolling. Got it.

because a game in a franchise massively changing an extremely functional HUD for the fuck of it is kinda nonsensical. they clearly added new elements for the new ability each class got and their weapon display is super informative at a quick glance. destiny has a great hud.

A lot of what D1 offered was really, really good. Sure, it still needed a lot of work, but there was a lot in the game that kept people coming back. A lot of the game's biggest complainers poured hundreds if not thousands of hours into this game for a reason, and so a lot of the meaningful changes my not be easily represented in a full hour or a few gameplay videos. There's a whole lot we still don't know about the game..

Finally finished watching.

I dunno, it looks pretty damn awesome to me. Campaign looks cool, guided games seem great, and the new worlds are neat.

This is from the point of view of someone who has never played Destiny, though. I have watched my roomie play a lot, though.

Interested to see more specifics about progression. That's my biggest concern for games like this (MMOs with progression.)

As it stands, this will be where I finally jump into the Destiny world. Pretty excited!

a couple new subclasses and grenade launchers = the whole game is new ?

taken king had that

I guess Uncharted 1 to Uncharted 2 was an expansion, they both shoot and find treasures.

Dude there is going to be a hell of a lot more stuff coming out about this. This is just a reveal.

I love the Cabal drop pods.

BTW is there any info on weapon mods yet? I've seen some shots of the menu with "No Weapon Mod is Applied" text

Ah, so you're trolling. Got it.

How am I trolling? I'll admit, the drill was cool.

But it was the same strike we played in Destiny 1.

Get from point a to point b. Kill things in way. I didn't see much in originality.

Dunno, you think I'm trolling, but I'm not. I want to be excited for Destiny 2. But this is what we got 3 years later?

It legit feels like an expansion pack from what I've seen.

I thought maybe you could pilot the ship, fly it around and have cool space battles.

Maybe a 12 v 12 pvp mode where its this big map, and everyone is fighting.

Even maybe change up the ui elements. Maybe choose another font for Christ sake, lol.

In my opinion, this does not feel like a sequel. It checks all the sequel checkboxes, but it doesn't feel like one.

/shrug.

That is totally your opinion, I don't think you're trolling at all.

That being said, I don't think you understand that Bunglo isn't going to change a winning formula.

It's going to be D1 but better and with more stuff to do. Simple as that.
