Red Dead Redemption 2 delayed to Spring 2018 [Up: April 2018 at the earliest]

Breath of the Wild will run away with the GOTY awards now. RDR2 was the only game I thought had a goos chance of overshadowing it. Even if Mario is top tier, I think that BotW appeals to enthusiast gamers more.

I got grudge sucked!
The only bummer for me is this was the only later year release I cared about. I'm sure E3 might have a few surprises but I've never cared for COD, and who knows about the new Battlefront.

Great news!

I didn't realize it was originally planned as a 2017 release anyway. Spring 2018 is actually ahead of when I expected it.

They say this like this is the only delay that will happen, and that this delay is a shocker. I expect late summer 2018 at the earliest.

Also, now that they no longer have The Benz, it could mean even more delays than your typical Rockstar project.

I don't know why they ever said they targeted Fall 2017 in the first place. The fans knew that date was a joke, why didn't they?

Well shit...

To make up for this they better make the PC version release simultaneously with the console versions.

So no GTA 6 this gen or..?

This gen should have several years left in it before we see true successors to the current-gen. So, there's no reason why we shouldn't see GTAVI on current consoles. That would be a Rockstar North led project while RDR2 is led by their San Diego studio.

I still wanna see this at E3, Rock*.

I know E3 plans on already set in stone, but I wonder if Sony knew this delay was coming. Would be interesting if we don't see it at E3.

It would make a nice surprise at PSX as well. We know they are going to share more this Summer.

I believe any game made before 1997 is "essentially cave man art."
It's obvious Rockstar saw the writing on the wall:
Zelda is GOTY and a younger John Marston wasn't going to cut it.

Wet flip flop noises and being able to ignite gasoline trails in GTA V is neat but gameplay wise nothing was added. To see a REAL open world IMMERSIVE SIMULATION (Zelda) made them scrap whatever engine they were working on to improve whatever sterile environment they had. I applaud Rockstar and fully expect another delay.

Not sure I'm on the same page with you about a sterile environment or scrapped engine. Nothing I've seen suggested a validation of either of those statements.

There's no way to know for sure. I don't know if this is as "obvious" as you feel. I mean, Zelda was great and all, but idk...

Unlikely that R* would have showed it at E3 anyway. They usually so their media releases after the E3 hype dies down.

Thy said in the presser that they'll have more info in the coming weeks so likely follow the same announcements of other games and release information a week or so after E3 and crash the internet.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Not a chance, they want that double-dip money and they're gonna get it.

4k resolution
Unlimited framerates!

This stuff sells itself. R* knows what they're doing.

The first delay, we all expect more right? My money is on fall 2018 or spring 2019, just in time to be completely outdone by Cycerpunk for open world crown

I am still holding out hope that the actual single player game isn't focused on Dutch's gang and a younger John, hopefully that is just an MP tease or something.

I want an earlier setting (IE Civil War'ish or older), not another "at the end" of the old west setting, and new characters.

Seems strange that they'd double down when they've never made a direct-sequel with their other games.

I think they realise millions of people will double-dip and buy a PS4 or Xbone copy to ride the initial hype-wave, then buy a graphically superior PC version 6 months or so down the track. There's no way they won't keep the PC version in the oven for a while longer to get that extra $$$$$$$$.

Some folks just use their brains and don't repeat the same post like sheeps : "it'll get delayed because I say so!" (then say "called it lol" like sheeps once again)

I did use my brain, and the day they were supposed to unveil the cover art for GTAV, R* announced an 8 months delay , instead.
This company doesn't give a fuck, and if you've been following them for long enough, you should've seen that coming.

And if those internal R* spouse stories are to be believed (as well as those from Max Payne 3) it's not exactly based on nothing, either.
They're perfectionists, and they seem to be a very chaotic company.
