Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen coming to PS4/XB1 (fall 2017)

I probably won't pick this one up. (I doubled dipped on PS3 and PC) But anyone who hasn't given this game a try - should. A hidden gem last generation and my personal favorite from the PS3/Xbox360 era.

Really hoping that we get a sequel - leveraging everything the industry have learned with Zelda, Horizon, Witcher 3, with the facial animation of an Injustice 2. Thanks in advance Capcom.

Did a quick look, but is there any improvements or additions over the PC version on steam? I imagine ps4pro version will possibly get 4k.

Pc backlogged. Maybe I should start playing this game. Thing is, I got overwhelmed for some reason when I tried it out once and this is from someone who completed all the soulsborne games. Weird I know.

You need to spell sync. If multiple people are casting the same spell close together, the cast time is reduced, and the damage is increased. You kinda need to have at least two sorcerors to benefit from that class.

I never knew about this. Will keep in mind when I play it again.

Oh man. Definitely a day 1 for me. Owned the original and expansion and absolutely loved it.

What are the real chances this comes to the U.S.?

Iirc someone mentioned that its F2P model is similar to MH Online and wouldn't fly in the west without some serious changes.

Why thought? What is so different about it compared to other F2P games that are out right now? (serious Q, I've never played DDO)

I never did do the expansion content on the PS3 version. I bought the vanilla version day 1 and then the Dark Arisen version came out on PS+ but I never got around to it. I will definitely be picking this up day 1. This is still one of the best action RPGs ever made, right up there with The Witcher 3 and Souls series IMO.

Platinumed on PS3 and 200h played on Steam, I think i'll sit this one out.
By now my bet is that we will see DD:DA re-released on PS5/XBONE2 before we see Dragon's Dogma 2.

Is this a remaster of the DD they released last gen?
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen was originally released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 as an expanded and enhanced version of the core Dragon's Dogma title. Dark Arisen was later released for PC with "increased fidelity" in relation to graphics, as well as "full Steam platform support with Achievements, and the ability to play using both Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers."
.

This game low-key has the best character creator of all time. Things like Black Desert may produce more detailed and beautiful results. But Dragon's Dogma is the only time I ever felt completely free to make any type of character. Hulking aberrations, imperious elves, spindly aliens, hardy dwarves, bodybuilders or milquetoasts, little children, bright-eyed young adventurers, weary aging warriors, hunched crones....

With so few restrictions on sex, age, size, and bearing, it just didn't matter that there aren't enough different hairstyles, etc. Cosmetic options (as much as I wished there were more) fade to irrelevancy compared to the ability to build a person to fit nearly any imagined backstory. Even ones that get little shrift in western fantasy games, like tween mages, female barbarians, or ancient kung fu masters. It vastly increases the sense of role-play, if you're into that stuff.

Being able to also design your main pawn was great too, and could establish a player-driven narrative hook. Friend? Dead parent? Romantic interest? Mentor? Haughty rival? Resentful servant? The possibilities were invigorating.

That's without mentioning the combat, which--though much more repetitive than folks usually admit--was tons of fun. And here too, you feel unconstrained. Certainly Dragon's Dogma is in rare company where melee, ranged, and magical combat all feel strong and engaging.

Yeah, it just drops you on there and just says lol good luck with only a vague sense of what to do. Dosen't help you can easily get one shotted in the early game and lose a bunch of progress. It's also super easy to miss almost all the side content since they can canceled once you reach key moments in the game.

Game actually gets easier later on since it's super easy to get overpowered and destroy everything in the second half if you take your time and do most of the side stuff. Until you go to Bitterblack Isle. Which is kind of like a faster paced Souls game and will destroy you if your under level 50. It's also where the best loot is so you'll gonna want to go there eventually.
