Looks like LittleBigPlanet 3 is doing a set of Tekken costumes. Here's King

No other characters have been shown yet as far as I can tell.

Edit: Apparently someone datamined these a while back. The other costumes are Asuka, Devil Jin, Jack 7, Yoshimitsu, and Alisa. No good images yet though.

I am terrified that the netcode might be trash. The people I want to play this with online are on east coast and I'm on west. If it's too laggy I think I'll probably refund it on Steam :(

Eh, have you played TTT2 or TR and saw that netcode? It's one of the latest series you need to be worried about netcode-related.

Iirc JDCR was saying on twitter that the arcade version's online lags all the time and he really hopes that the console version is different.

Here's hoping it's better on console.

The arcade version lags offline too lol

Between roughly handled machines, arcade internet and Namco's servers there's usually some unavoidable weirdness going on. TTT2 was perfectly fine if you and your opponent were wired and I'd expect it to continue here.

Do recall that T7 Arcade also has the side switching feature that was the main culprit

Going to start making calls today to local stores. Hopefully Memorial Day weekend doesn't mess up the shipments :(

Edit: Looks like my local stores might get some towards end of this week but said beginning of next week is more likely the case.

It's seriously hilarious that they are that close, the difference in quality/content is like night and day.
I think Capcom misjudged how the mainstream engages with fighting games these days. Seems like SP content is even more important than MP now.

Interesting article on the game on CNET.

https://www.cnet.com/news/tekken-7-arcade-street-fighter-death-fighting-game-community/
"There was a lot that was changed based on feedback from the players," Katsuhiro Harada, executive producer of Tekken 7, said to CNET. The arcade release, he said, was key to balancing out the characters.

This is crucial. One overpowered character can ruin a whole game. Akuma was so strong in Street Fighter II: Turbo that he was banned from all official tournaments in the US. In 2002's Tekken 4, almost every tournament match up would be Jin vs. Jin, because he stood head-and-shoulders above all other characters.

But balance is something that typically only impacts serious players. Tekken is known and loved for its accessibility and most casual players won't understand the game enough to feel the difference between a middling B+ and a top-level S-tier character. But they will notice Tekken 7's distinct style. Harada added that little details, like costume overhauls and graphical changes to stages and backgrounds, were made based on player feedback.

With Street Fighter V not getting an arcade release, Tekken stands as the last blockbuster fighter to get arcade play. It's a shame, because arcades help developers.

"It's hard to say we can continue this for the coming years," Harada admitted, "if we didn't have that arcade base for Tekken we could have not made it to Tekken
7."
He's said it before but that's so true. In a previous interview he said if they didn't have this arcade model we wouldn't have had a Tekken past 5.

If they bailed arcade altogether, I can see them using AAK's suggested free-to-play/pay-to-continue console beta model while working on the game proper for a full release (or discounted upgrade if you're in the beta and put in a certain amount of time/money).

I see them riding arcade until the wheels fall off and then, once they can't do the arcade anymore, they'd probably do what other games do and by that do the whole "limited beta to full release" thing since it's more viable compared to any other service out there for games these days. Rather than having a beta that's constantly running they'd limit it so when the full console release comes out it's a big event.

The problem is if Bamco's sure Tekken's going to be successful enough on it's own without arcade. If the console sales aren't there then there's a problem. Who knows their metrics.

So people better buy this game.

Depends on your target audience but both are equally important, sp helps your first day sales while good online services help you make money in the long term from your dedicated fanbase.

I'm sure it's not bullshit.

I mean, look at Soul Calibur. That went console only with the 4th entry and now the series is dead.

Yeah good point. People are praying for a new Soul Calibur but honestly I don't see it happening and if it does it's a complete reboot.

What I wanna see are Bamco's internal numbers on what makes a successful fighting game.

I'm totally looking forward to this game, I held off from getting Injustice 2, so hopefully this will sate my beat-em-up itch. I just hope there will be enough things to unlock and do, something to keep players coming back, besides the online play.

That was more a combination of Soul Calibur 4 being by far the weakest entry in the franchise and then rushing Soul Calibur 5 out the door before they even had time to finish the planned content.

That series still has good potential for another great game. And despite being rushed and having that feeling of being incomplete, 5 still felt very solid from a gameplay standpoint and was a big rebound from 4.

I'm searching online for more information. On the game modes will this game have survival, time attack, team battle like previous installments?

Nope. Those aren't in the game. Time Attack though, I mean Arcade has a timer on it but the other 2? Nope.

Climbing up that chart.

Not doing nearly as well on the X1 though. And I was surprised in the general chart that Ultra Street Fighter II was next to it. Game must be exceeding Capcom's expectations because Amazon stopped accepting preorders for it.

That's pretty much expected.

You either go for the extra features and competition or the great visuals and mod community.

What does the X1 really offer tbh?

I know. I wasn't expecting it to sell as well as the other two but that's way lower than what I was imagining.

Actually surprised at Crash pre-orders getting that high too.

I'm glad because maybe it'll open up a new Crash game in the format of this one.

Tekken at the beginning of the month and Crash at the end of the month. It's like we're back in the mid-90s all over again lol.

As much as I defend that game, that score was some serious bull-crap. Famitsu heel turn right there.

Meh, people rarely take famitsu reviews for what they are, much less what they say since I've basically never seen them quoted. Games about franchises they like tend to get good scores, ala jojo. Even if the game isn't that great for -insert reasons- they only have about the size of a tweet to sum it up in words.

getting a 36/40 isn't a bad score at all for Tekken, means all 4 thought it was near perfect. If it got a 30/40 it could still be lop sided in the 3 people thought it was perfect one person hated it type way.
its a stupid system since its summed up in total numbers
