Overwatch | Anniversary Event

Done with 1v1 in one game lol.

Destroyed my opponent (I was tracer vs his orisa in round 1. Was pharah vs his reaper in round 2) and he quit at round 3. Got my loot box.

I'm bad at 1v1, so I guess that's going to be the only way I'll be able to get that box.
I love the new 3v3 by the way. I like that it introduces at the very least a little bit of variety in that mode, and the new maps are great.

I've gotten five boxes so far, but nothing but blues and whites, with my only "big" one being Epic coins. And even then, other than the Hanzo and Genji skins (that I don't really use, but they look cool), I don't want anything big. I'll save my coins until the last day and I'll buy the dances for my mains.

Nevertheless, this event seems rather underwhelming. I mean, we've gotten a new game mode in every event so far, or at least, the temporary ones such as Lúcioball or Uprising. This one having nothing new seems weird, especially for the Anniversary celebration.

Weren't they doing a presentation or something like that today?

This event will be rougher on completionists more than any other before it. I bought allot of boxes and have... maybe half of everything? Kinda hesitant to spend more real money but buying the rest with gold will eat through the large majority of my reserves. Thankfully the event just started so I've got plenty of time still to get lucky.

completionists have to play the game a ton anyway, unless they are gods at the game it takes a long time to get good enough to make the top 500 each season for the sprays, plus they are playing a ton to get all the golden weapons...so along the way they'll get a lot of lootboxes too

I'll try to get the most I can and in the end buy the 5 lootboxes to try my luck.
So far from yesterday playing session I got only Cyberninja Hanzo and a few dancing emotes. So far so good I guess...

Played tons of elimination last night. The new overtime is pretty terrible.

For my group, necropolis almost always ended in it which just added a camp the point with a bastian or a tank mechanic that was never there before. Also it seems to come up way too fast in a round.

iMO it turned a problem that didn't happen much into an entirely cheesy and annoying new way to play. Draws were a bit shitty but they were rectified next round when your team ganged up on the asshole that caused it.

I'm glad about lockout and overtime. I think they improved the way it plays. No longer is every round dominated by roadhog, and the tracer/lucio that keeps trying to outrun you until the round draws or the enemy waving to you on the other side of a wall as it draws no longer happens. I had that garbage all the time, but not anymore.

I just went ahead and bought D.Va's skin, because I haven't been playing much and will more than likely never get it with my luck. Last night, I got three boxes (2 from game, 1 free) and all were junk. I still have about 3500 gold left over so I'm good.

The best part is all the 50's lingo associated with it.

I don't think most of the players, even completionists, give much of a shit about sprays or player icons.

It's about skins, emotes and highlight intros, maybe victory poses, for just about everyone. And this event has the most purple and legendary items, compared to any other event before it.

11 skins, all legendary (where the highest amount had been Uprising with 8 legendaries, and before that it was 4-6 in all the other events).
24 dance emotes, where normally it would be 3 emotes and intros each for every event up until then.
That's 35 purple+legendary items, whereas every other event before this has had 18 give or take one or two, so this event has almost twice as many.

This is coupled with, of course, the lower drop rate of purple/legendary items, the chance to get non-event items and especially duplicates, the tripled prices for event items and only getting less than a tenth of the price of an event skin for getting a duplicate.

i disagree, i'd think completionists would care a great deal about the top 500 sprays. they are some of the most exclusive items in the game and can never be obtained again.

Alright, it's time to decide once and for all....WHO GOT THE BEST MOVES IN OVERWATCH!?!??!

I gotta rep my metal man Bastion. He be breaking it down with the train. But then again Sombra got that shuffle going on.

I hit level 100 yesterday and cycled back around to level 1 but the XP and leveling is much slower now. Last time I hit level 100 the first 10 levels of the next tier were as if I started from a new account, I was hoping to cheese the event rewards a bit.

I did manage to get a legendary 76 in the first gift lootbox and had 3000 gold to buy Tracer skin right away. The rest I make will likely go towards dances =P

Oh dang... They changed it? I was going to push for lvl 100 to quickly go through 1-20 :/

I'd rather self-mutilate myself than to go through this shit any more. Fuck Arcade. The Uprising event was the only tolerable mode ever cause each match was a guaranteed win, the rest of this is a frustrating piece of time waste. 5 matches. 5 losses. Fuck this.

Random Hero is far and away the best mode in the game.

I was hoping you would be able to get items from previous events as part of the anniversary.

I wonder why this isn't the case?

Earned about 8 loot boxes so far. I'm usually pretty fortunate with event loot boxes but every one I've had in the last 24 hours as been embarrassing. 7/8 have been white, white, blue, white.

Whites... and blue
WHITES AND BLUE

Yep, nothing but

*finger drifting away from Confirm Purchase button again* :/

That doesn't bring back good memories...

It is until you get only support heroes in your team.

That's stupid... it should still maintain party balance... But I guess they want this mode to be chaotic by design... luck more than skill.

Played a bit last night for the first time in a month or so.

I didn't enjoy it.
Felt a big, "I've been there before, same ol' same ol', okay let's continue Zelda".

Not a fan of the outfits too. This game has gone bland for me.
I'm saying that while getting my ass kicked multiple times playing 1x1.

Platinum Trophy: Learned to Shit While Upright Again.
Got back to back Legendaries...

500 coins and then Jester Junkrat...

Seriously!

They need to make sure old stuff is pushed down, so stupid you could get original stuff i these boxes, I understand why they do it but still stupid

The Anniversary stuff, most can't buy out everything, you would think they would be made more open to giving fucking cosmetics away at a good pace

I'm so thankful for how lucky I've been with D.Va skin pulls. I've got the skins for the summer games 2016, new year, and now anniversary!~ 🍒

Haven't played in a while, jumping in with this event but why the hell are all the new costumes 3k? I remember they used to top off at 1K before.

To deplete players coin stockpiles, worse is if you get same dupe 3000 coin skin you get 200 coins (cause 1/5th refund of Old Legendary pricing is 1000)
So that's even worse...

It is until you get 2 Widowmakers, a Hanzo, a Tracer, a Symmetra and a Torb on attack.

And trying to make that work is part of the fun. I think playing that mode makes you a better overall player, both because you're using characters you normally wouldn't pick, and you're trying tactics that wouldn't make sense in a "real" game.

I love this mode as well, getting stuck with a hero you never play might make you actually like them.

Mystery heroes is #1 A+ good shit

Comp season ending in 4 days means less EXP and tons of legendaries and epics means you wont get shit.

I got 1 new taunt after 10 or more boxes.

Everytime I see a Tracer blink herself off a cliff I get just a little bit of my youth back

Mystery heroes 6v6 is my goto arcade mode.

There absolutely is a high luck factor ... if one team gets high-tier rolls, they'll have a big advantage. There's also an issue that both teams begin to fill up with high-survivability characters (like d.va) simply because they don't die as much.

I like it because there are less ultimates and that I get to play against other players that aren't using their best characters. It also has made me really appreciate characters that I wouldn't normally select (like Genji and Tracer).

It's my go to warm up and cool down mode. And sometimes just a "chill out and play this shit all night" mode.

And sometimes my "I got 10 minutes to kill" mode.

It's basically the best mode.
