Comcast/others submitting false FCC User Comments on Net Neutrality

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
So why do people keep using Comcast again? Do they have a monopoly over some areas?

Only reason I use them. Still thinking about dropping because of this. I hope they get crushed in court.

What happened to all the tech companies that were fighting for net neutrality last time? I haven't heard anything from them this time.
We're fucked aren't we? :(

Looking that way. Almost no company has come out against this in a major way. Unless we can somehow fight this in the courts, I really just don't see how net neutrality survives. I'm honestly about to cry thinking about, as silly as that sounds. One of the greatest tools every created, in a place it flourished (despite all the problems it spawns), could be gone by the next Presidential election.

Even the pet cemetery voted against net neutrality.

Oh, my poor dead kitty! Please, not you too!

All right, Comcast. Now it's personal!

Only in the US, the Internet exists beyond the country's borders.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!

It's been over a decade since I lived in an area where I was given an option for my ISP. I either had Comcast at some locations or ATT at the others. Wanted neither? Then no internet as there literally was zero option.

It's absurd how our government has allowed things to get to this point over the last few decades.

Checked my name as well as relatives with the same name. Nothing popped up for me.
However, I currently don't have Comcast. I used to in the past.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!

But don't you see, restricting Comcast's absurdly anti-consumer monopoly is bad for competition

These mother fuckers actually say this shit with a straight face. It's fucking outrageous.

Fuck you Comcast. When people (Republicans) ask, "why shouldn't we let Internet providers run themselves" aside from this being the equivalent of letting a wolf guard a flock of sheep, this is why. They have proven that time and time again, they'll use whatever shady tactic to get their ways. Seriously, for another company this would be low, but for Comcast this was Tuesday.

Even if Comcast loses, they win. This will completely neutralize any effect this website would have had for better or worse. That's probably the goal and what's more disturbing is that they're willing to so blatantly use their customer's info without consent in this way. This is beyond muscle flexing. It's fraud and they don't even care.

Yo. That's fucked up. That would cause the biggest shitstorm the world has ever seen if it happened in Germany.

The FCC are going to ignore all the comments anyway. Ajit Pai is going to do what he said right at the start of the process.

Time to start writing letters to your senators and representatives to get the issue fixed with legislation.

yes.

most people are lucky to even be able to pick between two ISPs

Most americans only have a single cable provider to choose from.

Damn that makes sense now.

does it have to be my first middle & last name along with my address?

I found my first name with my last name being used, but not my address. not sure what to do... or if it's another person with my name

Yup. America is fucked up. Most places only have 1 choice. These companies work out agreements to not trample on each other's territories. A friend of mine in Alabama for example they split the county and don't offer services in each others territories. At the same time they come into communities and work deals with the local government to make it almost impossible for someone to come in anyway. Usually these deals limit others access to the infrastructure and/or set impossible requirements for anyone else coming in. In some places you're lucky and you have a choice between one of the old phone company's DSL or the cable company's connections. Like here for example. We only have Cox or AT&T. That's it.

So I went to the fcc site itself and searched John Smith under the same topic. Strangely didn't see the bot effect at a glance, but did notice lots of John Smiths using variations of this:

Chairman Pai: I am concerned about the Open Internet order. I strongly advocate you to rescind Tom Wheeler's order to take over the web. Internet users, rather than Washington, should be free to enjoy which products we prefer. Tom Wheeler's order to take over the web is a distortion of net neutrality. It stopped a market-based framework that worked very, very smoothly for a long time with bipartisan backing.

Multiple variations of this same wording. I couldn't find any pro net neutrality submissions that shared a format so closely.

Sup?

You can nullify/alter the perception of anything if you throw enough data at it. People believe it's legit? Net neutrality is bad, people believe it's hacked? Just proof that internet comments don't matter, throw the whole thing out. It's really, really difficult to believe in anything anymore.

According to some Republican shill that was on Real Time last year, it's all about leveling the playing field. Yeah, she had no idea what the fuck she was talking about.....

It's like when Ted Cruz said net neutrality was the obamacare of the internet. That's all these idiots needed in order to think net neutrality was bad.

Jesus fucking christ, the worst part is no one in the government will do shit about this because they're already in the pockets of the telecoms.

They'll ignore it till it suits them to draw attention to it. When someone holds them down to answer why they pulled their bs, they'll have a stable of these false comments form companies in their back pocket to pull from.

Peeps, Here's two different topics on what Net Neutrality is and how to comment on their site:
April 2017
May 2017

And as Faddy says, Contact your Reps and Vote. There's a lot going on in this fucked up version of the country we love but if you're contacting your reps, stick to one topic, in this case: Net Neutrality. Make sure you make your refusal for the FCC's tactics and your approval for the untouched way the net works now clear as day. People will say, "Voting/contacting does nothing"/"XYZ GOP members are too powerful in my state/city". Don't buy that bullshit. If you truly care, the worst thing you can do now is think it's all insurmountable and do nothing in response. Even spreading the word about the FCC, their plot and the value of net neutrality is something worth while.

I really hate to be the one to bust the bubble, but calling your reps, in this instance, really won't do anything. The FCC is a three person board, who are appointed by the President. Congress reps and Senates are removed from this issue.

I mean, you know, it's not going to hurt or anything, and we should always be calling our reps, but in this particular instance, they really have almost no real effect on what is happening.

What does the internet look like in a few years if Trump's FCC gets their way? I see some comments on here about Comcast just blocking whatever websites they want. I guess that means things like this Amazon streaming sticks will be a thing of the past?

They have no effect on what's currently happening, but it's up to Congress to define the FCC's powers. The main excuse for making ISPs Title 2 was that it was the only way within the FCC's powers to enforce net neutrality regulations without getting a new law passed by Congress iirc.

Thats literally how it is in the majority of the country. You simply have no other options to go to if you feel as a consumer the company starts fucking up. Its extremely difficult for any other company to come in and provide service.

I guess this is true.

Comcast has been putting in some major ad dollars on Twitter trying to convince everyone they're totally cool with net neutrality guys seriously

In some cities it's between comcast for fast speeds or a shittier option for like a few mbps if any. And the issue is those companies might not even service your address because they're so small.

VERY rarely do you have an option between a major cable company and another fast ISP. And when there are other options SURPRISE Comcast all of a sudden can offer better speeds for better prices and possibly remove caps. Which of course it's only when convenient.

Hey ISPs and Republicans you want looser regulations? Let the god damn market decide. Have many options in a city for people to choose, that way each company is competing instead of having a monopoly and finding ways to fuck you over.

I'm so completely disgusted. For as long as I can remember, my friends who are unfortunate enough to be forced to use Comcast (for lack of available ISP choices because of their shitty monopolizing ways) have ALWAYS complained about how terrible the service, all the issues they've had with it, the bad customer service, just everything. And now this. WTF.

Some areas would be putting it lightly. Regional monopolies is very much a thing. Just look how often Time Warner Cable and Comcast service the same area for example. And they wanted to merge years ago (or am I thinking of Charter or something).
