love this art. looks oldschool

What? No. The LoS verse has nothing to do with the OG verse. If you only have a ps4 or PC you ran out of luck I am afraid.

He said tonal, and I agree. The aesthetics here are close to Lords of Shadow, at least the first one and Mirror of Fate.

Even if you don't like those as Castlevania games, they got the atmosphere and art down on fucking point.

There's always Bloodstained:

I'm really hoping for the best, but man, part of the reason I love Castlevania is... the Castlevania stuff. Belmonts, Dracula, the Universal monster thing.

Bloodstained will have its own thing and feel like the Metroidvanias, but I still long for an actual, proper Castlevania game. I liked Lords of Shadow 1 a lot but thought the sequels mostly fumbled.

Those visuals look fantastic, like of a great classic anime and not something new. Was expecting this to look like cheap garbage like that new dragon ball.

Pretty solid. I'm mostly interested in seeing how well the animation sells itself to me, and how far they push everything. The designs look very nice right now; feels somewhat close to the style for the more modern Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust from 2000. (Edit: Glad to see others agree, lol.) Yet the color palette has a more oldschool feeling to it. It actually looks like something that Wayforward could probably make a solid looking game out of, actually.

A July release is somewhat sooner than expected. Wonder how many previews we'll get before release...

I don't think that's true. I'm a fan of both timelines, and it looks more like the storyline of 3 and the art style of the later "Iga-style" games, but Americanized slightly. The only similarities that appear with Lords of Shadow are Scottish accents.

Shakar wants the show to be "R-rated as fuck" and Cox himself wanted Lords to be dark and gritty. The games before Lords didn't really have any intention or expression of being "hardcore" and were usually pretty goofy and campy. As for the resemblance to Dawn and Portrait, it's because they're anime.

She. And yeah, that's what I meant.

Do we know who this Belmont is? New guy? Returning hero?

Wow this looks really good. Can't wait to watch it on Netflix.

Surprised Konami is using their properties for things other than gambling machines.

The art-style gives me Vampire Hunter D anime vibes, which is a good thing. Besides being a decent comic writer Ellis also wrote the G.I. Joe: Resolute series for Cartoon Network, which I thought kicked ass. And the toaster in the trailer! I'm really looking forward to this now.
