Friday the 13th: The Game |OT| You and your friends are dead. GAME OVER

Does the phone spawn in a different cabin every game? If so, they really should put it's location on the map. You already have to find the map just to know where you're going, making you randomly look around a huge map just to find the phone too is unnecessary, especially considering how OP Jason already is. That and you still have to survive 5 minutes even if you find it, which is a LOOOOONG time in this game.

I've played multiple games where I could have probably survived had I been able to find the phone sooner.

...that'd make it way too easy and not random then. Everyone would simply use the phone every game and not bother finding the keys/gas/battery for the car or motor/gas for the boat.

I'm curious. Is the Blink Grab combo harder to do on console?

I know on PC it's OP.

I have trouble with it. And yeah watching PC streams made it seem like a breeze, can you slow down speed when morphing? I'm always running into trees or zooming past counselors and shit

The randomness isn't the issue for me, it's the fact that the maps are so huge it can make finding the phone almost impossible to find before he gets you. Add in the fact that you need the fuse first, and that it takes up to 5 minutes for the police to spawn, I don't think putting it on the map (Which you'd also have to get first), would make it that much easier, more balanced actually considering how OP Jason is and how easy he can find you.

Also, during the time you're waiting for the police, other items can be gathered as a backup plan so it doesn't mean that finding the phone would negate doing other things to escape.

After a playing a few matches I can say that imo hiding under beds and in wardrobes is useless. If Jason is nearby just run or hide in a room where the door can be locked. I've found that more effective than hiding in/under stuff.

I dunno if it's related but I think I played with one of the developers for a few hours last night without knowing. Unless they both happen to have the same GamerTag/Reddit handles lol.

the game uses host connection, if the host quits, the match ends, this is a game breaker, everyone be careful

i repeat the game uses HOST CONNECTION

HOST QUITS = MATCH OVER

I can't get past the damn database error.

Just got kicked out myself after my first time playing as Jason, now I can't get back in again with this database error shit.

This game wasn't ready for launch, it's nearly impossible to get on at all with the server issues and the game is full of glitches, leveling resets, and crashing issues (Xbox One version at least). As fun as the base game is, I wouldn't have dropped $40 right away on a game I can barely play at the moment due to the shape it's in.

The car key is like the one item I haven't found in all of the matches I've played. Is there a spot they typically spawn in? Feels like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack when it's the last item needed.

I usually fint the key in drawers.

Something I think they need to change is having more than one of certain items. Say you're on a level where there's only one car to escape with, there will only be one battery, one set of keys, one tank of gasoline.

Say someone dies in the middle of nowhere with one of those items you're basically shit out of luck escaping that way. There needs to be a bit of leeway, it's hard enough finding some of these items without ending up in a position where the item literally isn't even in one of the houses at all. It's just a bit too punitive for those remaining.

Maybe that would make it too easy but I think they need to look at how they can keep the counsellors engaged more in the game. If the above happens you can find yourself aimless for long stretches.

I was just going to ask about this. So the item stays on the body? That does seem like it would make it pretty hard to find.

FUCK. I can't request a refund on XB1 because I have more than 2 hours of "playtime". I don't consider searching for a damn session to be playtime. What horseshit.

I've had the opposite experience. Hiding under a bed has been the most effective hiding technique for me as long as I don't bother trying to hold my breath since that almost immediately lets out that awful sigh that gets me spotted every time.

Grabbing should only be a thing once you have hobbled a counselor. That alone would improve gameplay immensely on the counselor side.

Yeah, Jason instantly murdering you from a teleport is too corny right now. If he actually had to work for the insta-gib, it'd be a lot more reasonable.

Also, one thing they should do is definitely have NOBODY spawn near the telephone house. Every jason seems to spawn camp there, and screw anyone saying that he's underpowered early on. If you're in Jason's sights at the start of the game with no equipment, you're done. This last game I literally spawned in the telephone house.. Guess what I heard five seconds after starting the game?

just wait for the screen to go static then commence with the jukes its easy to dodge his grab

Yeah people will eventually learn how the Shift mechanic works but it still doesn't change the fact that it is horrible gameplay. You can be just sneaking in the woods away from Jason's sound range. He pops Sense and uses Shift to move quickly through the woods he gets in range of redness and heads straight there, before you can even react you're caught.

That is just not fun gameplay.

And of course now I've got the idiotic Database bug on PC and can't get in.

24 hours later and I haven't been able to play a single match on XB1. About to request a refund and buy it on PS4.

I was gonna day 1 it on Xbox one but was kinda broke, glad I have to wait now, will wait a few weeks for them to sort things out

I can wait until they get the offline mode update so if I have connection issues at least I can still play it

Chatting with MS now. Going through the whole troubleshooting rigmarole before they'll discuss options of a refund...

I can't guarentee this but for Xbox players that are having the database error login issue, I looked for a solution and found this video on youtube and it worked for me. It involves signing in on an alternate account.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRhe3LueF6k

I had my friend try this that was having that issue and it worked for him too, so this might possibly be a workaround until they get shit up and working. Hope this helps people on Xbox.

I head straight for the biggest house on the map at the start of the match. At least 3 players spawn there and I'm guaranteed to kill one while scattering the others, leaving them without weapons and items for easy pickings.

Patch just came out on steam. http://steamcommunity.com/app/438740/discussions/0/1291817208496054912/

PATCH IS LIVE (BUILD 2686) - Patch Notes
Hey all; the patch is live. Please restart your devices. This is our first major fix/improvement patch and we are working on stability. Other fixes are coming, but the most immediate issues have been addressed. You should see better quickplay.

As for those who have 'Database Login Failure' - That is a backend issue for servers. We are incrementally working on that. It is separate from the patch and will be disappearing as we work account to account. This one takes some time, but everyone will eventually have that issue removed for the population that still has it.

More work, but the fixes are starting to come online!

PATCH NOTES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Improvements
- Numerous optimizations to QuickPlay: Search less, be discovered more; request a smaller sample size when searching to ping fewer results, so the scan to join turn-around is quicker. Will reduce contention issues.
- EasyAntiCheat now verifies content has not been tampered with to prevent content modification cheating methods.
- Reduced the amount of time the QuickPlay lobby timer "bumps" when someone connects or joins to 30s instead of 90 and 45s respectively.
- Drop the lobby timer to 30s instead of 60s when it gets full.

Fixes
- Fixed party members not always following their leader when matchmaking into dedicated servers.
- Fixed a matchmaking slicing issue causing potentially good servers to be ignored/discarded.
- Fixed a UE4 bug with causing the game to freeze when unplugging headphones.
- Fixed Push To Talk not turning off when a gamepad is in use instead of a KB/mouse.
- Fixed the idle timer not properly bumping while spectating. Also bumping it before spawning as Tommy to fix a potential idle kick when that happens.
- Fixed some foot sliding when using the flare gun or shotgun.
- Disabled VR plugins to fix dialogs prompting to use them.
- Fixed players getting the Public Health achievement for healing themselves.
- Fixed stats that are not associated with a leaderboard not always updating on Steam.
- Fixed a permanent black screen on systems that do not support the intro videos correctly. Working on finding out why that occurs on some systems, newer UE4 feature.
- Fixed the intro/outro videos not being sound grouped. Effects volume now affects them.
- Fixed several dedicated and listen server specific crashes.

My girlfriend just repaired the boat and ditched me at the moment Jason appeared. I slowed him down with a machete whilst I watched her drive away but it wasn't enough.

This game 😅
