I don't have a problem with GnG having a rep, but having two characters from that series when a lot of other Capcom IPs aren't represented is a stupid move by them.

All joking aside, Kane is one of my favorite Marvel players and my Marvel 3 team has Hulk on it, which I blame Mike Ross for. I still don't think he's a great character for tourney stuff - I don't think any legacy Marvel character is, since their movesets are pretty locked in and have been for over two decades. Unless they make significant changes/buffs, Spidey's still gonna be ass. Hulk's gonna be wack. etc etc.
If we want to bring up characters being viable because they won/placed high in tournies, then I'll bring up Ageojoe murdering everyone with log traps and that won't be fun for anybody
At this point I wish they actually WERE pushing the MCU. Think of all the characters who didn't make the cut. Black Widow is the only OG Avenger missing. No Winter Soldier. No Black Panther. No Loki or villains at all outside of Ultron. No Scarlet Witch. No Iron Fist even though he has a recently released Netflix show AND was in the previous game. No Netflix show push at all. Even the original Injustice threw fans of the Arrowverse a bone and gave them a skin for Green Arrow.
And from these, Monster Hunter is the only non safe choice ... so sad =(

Why would they hype up a roster that unequivocally in every single way inferior to MVC2/3? It's not bad enough that the X-men are cut, but then have this poor launch line-up? Surely they didn't expect the extremely passionate fan base of this franchise to not be bummed out?

I'm talking more in taking away another franchise rep. One less Cole could've meant another PS franchise. One less GnG could've meant A Okami, VJ, etc

Konami and capcom didn't really trust the game and figured they'd rather use it as a promotional tool for their upcoming games.
Thus why we got DmC Dante and Rising Raiden

I don't dislike that they went this route, I dislike how boring all their MCU choices were. Seriously no Black Panther? Black Widow, Loki, Winter Soldier, Vision. Come the fuck on

We don't know that. I meant if they chose to not include Coke then we might have less characters then. I can't say it with so certain.
Also Super-Bot is a new Studio with a lot of new workers so their reputation can't speak for itself.

Never been much of an MvC fan, or a Marvel fan for that matter, but man is the Capcom side of this list a let down. No Phoenix Wright, No Virgil, No Viewtiful Joe, no Amaterasu?
Was really hoping we would get Nero from DMC4 and a Rival Schools rep (Kyosuke pls), but with neither of those and a really lackluster starting roster for Capcom, this game is looking pretty whack to me right now.
Also if it's DmC Donte, I will personally buy every copy of the game and destroy them.

Maybe not for PSAS but in this case they would've had to keep the rosters balanced for MVCI
I was pulling for this because Injustice 2 kinda soured me on the loot mechanic and I fear KOF won't get much support in the future. Tekken is Tekken. And I dunno if I still care to get SFV.

Yeah, i am kinda bummed on this roster list, but hopefully we will get plenty of DLC, and the game will probably play amazing...I am still day 1

The game did recently pass 1 million in sales. But I'd say this is more than likely just combofiend pushing for him. As was said earlier, gameplay wise there's a good bit of diversity. But on the other hand, more new characters could've offered that same sort of thing.

Fair enough. I'm grown to like the roster even I felt few choices were arse. They really have a lot of works to convince the fans otherwise people wouldn't support them on long term.
This had a MUCH better cast. I would have killed for a port with online play on PS4

That's how I feel right now.
I usually feel brief disappointment when it comes to video games and get over it fast. With this, though, I'm genuinely sour that all of the hype I've had is nearly gone for this game. If all of this ends up being true, Capcom did a great job in killing the hype for this game. Like you, this is my fav series, and I was so hopeful about the game.
DLC simply won't replace that feeling. Ever.

Considering the reaction to the roster on social media and here, among other sites being hugely negative (if this is true). I am curious what they'll have planned to try and rectify things.
They could maybe have the first season pass have a bit of a trail period like half of SFV season pass did for starters. Also the first DLC pack hitting on some big wants would help as well.
It'll be interesting to see how capcom takes this. They can't afford another SFV-esque launch again I'd say.

Honestly I'd say it's worse. PSASBR didn't have a bunch of games before it that delivered far better on the roster and a lot of the things it didn't deliver on were likely beyond the control of the staff. PSASBR was missing a couple of big names that would have made it interesting but it still had some nice creative picks.
Honestly this is just a boring roster in comparison to the previous games.
Exactly how I feel. It's a super lazy MCU push. There's tons of awesome MCU characters they could have used. Instead...
Honestly my guess is nothing. Lack of arcade mode in SFV was a huge issue from day one and they've had like 15 months to fix that. Unless maybe they have DLC characters ready and screw with the roster I don't think they even have a viable option to fix this in the short period of time they have left.
God damn, that's depressing. D:
UMvC3 is on PS4 after all...I could stick with it if I ever have a VS urge...I'm starting to think this one can eat shit, unless the story mode is absolutely glorious.
