Marvel Digital Graphic Novel Sale at Amazon

Haven't seen this posted yet, but Amazon is having a huge sale on digital Marvel graphic novels and individual issues:

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_...104011&ie=UTF8&qid=1496424068&lo=digital-text

Hundreds of titles on sale, for really low prices. These are for Kindle, but if you link your Comixology account, you can download any of the titles there as well.

Just picked up ~ 12 books for about $35. Figured others would find a few things to read as well. Any recommendations?

Here's a link to the discounted Marvel's comics on the site:
https://www.amazon.com/Comics-Graph...&field-publisher=Marvel&page=1&rh=n:156104011

Not sure what the reasoning is (to combat Wonder Woman?) but they're heavily discounting a lot of trades to under $5 (including things that I've never read like Old Man Logan) and single issues range from $1-2.
You'll be able to use either the Kindle app you the Comixology app to read these purchases.

Some highlights from Polygon:
The sale is huge and well worth diving into, but here are some other recommended highlights, from your resident comics expert:

  • The Infinity Gauntlet, the first infamous story of the Mad Titan Thanos and his quest to possess all the Infinity Gems and wield omnipotent power.
  • Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Vol 1, Marvel's cleverest comedy series, where the story all began.
  • Darth Vader Vol 1, the triumphant return of Star Wars comics to Marvel, shedding light on the post-A New Hope adventures of Anakin Skywalker.
  • Jessica Jones: Alias Vol 1, the series that inspired the Peabody Award-winning Netflix show.
  • Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet, the best-selling series from the inimitable Ta-Nehisi Coates that brings Wakanda into a new era, literally and figuratively.

Please note: While I made sure there was no referrer code in the above link please be aware that NeoGAF dynamically adds one in when you click. Clicking through and buying these comics will help out GAF. You know what you must do.

Daredevil: Born Again is a good recommendation. I had little exposure to Daredevil outside the movies, but this was a great read. I enjoyed it a lot.

I have a few of these, but I spent my fun money already.

Infinity Gauntlet for sure.
Old Man Logan

X-Men: Messiah Complex is one I've been wanting to read.

I have this already, but Spider-Verse. I spent around $30 when it came out and it's $6 here.

I'm trying to think of some runs that I'd want even though I have a MU sub...hmmm.

Any really big collections that are worth it size-wise? That Spider-Verse collection is pretty solid.

Can someone take a picture of how these look on a regular first few generations b/w kindle? Can you even read the speech bubbles on that screen size?

Are any of the ones on sale not in Marvel Unlimited worth grabbing?
I mean...I already give them 10 bucks a month lol

Infinity War
Infinity Gauntlet
Thanos Quest
Warlock (Sterling)
Guardians of the Galaxy: Collect Them All (Novel - no images)
Guardians of the Galaxy (Abnet, et. al) vol 1-4

I then got a notice from Amazon telling me I had a free gift...a Graphic Novel! (most/many) from their sale list, so I snagged Marvel 1602 for free!

Got all the new canon Star Wars stuff, as well as Vision. Total spent was probably about $30? Good fuckin deal.

Too bad my kindle library is a complete mess now though. Was trying to keep it just books, and comics just on comixology, but his sale was too good to maintain that course.

Picked some up that I'd wanted for a while. Considering buying digital copies of some I have in physical form, but still going back and forth on that one.

Took care of this yesterday, with double dipping on Squirrel Girl lol, got Thanos Quest, and got the Vol 1-2 of the new Moon Knight series. Damn, vol 2 of Moon Knight came out a couple weeks ago, and about $15 for 7 trades is crazy.

Picked up:

X-Men Epic Collection: Second Genesis (Uncanny X-Men (1963-2011))
Warlock by Jim Starlin: The Complete Collection (Warlock (1972-1976))
Thanos Quest
Daredevil: Born Again (Daredevil (1964-1998))
Marvel Universe: The End

I stopped at page 50, the Masterworks and Omnibus collections are too tempting.

Picked up all 4 volumes of Alias since it's not on Marvel Unlimited.

Only $4.40 for one of the greatest, self contained pieces of storytelling in comics:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H0X8VLY/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Yeah, came to say that. $4.40 for the whole run in two parts, 2.20 each. That's a no brainer. Even if you don't know anything about the character beyond MCU or whatever, just buy those and read.

Yes. Fantastic piece of fiction.

Yeah, get Vision and Black Panther, people.

if you have seen Age of Ultron & Civil War (and paid attention to the Scarlet Witch / The Vision scenes) you would be in a perfect spot to read The Vision

Is there a way to buy more than 1 at a time? I only have an option for 1-click for each. Would rather just put a bunch in the basket and checkout 1 time.

Do these convert to Comixology at all? Don't like the idea of two separate places for comics, but these are crazy good sales

Yeah, if you've converted your CMX account to an Amazon one (that is, linking both), your Amazon purchases will show up on Comixology.

Any recommendations for a superhero novice? I get lost on all the numbers/series run. What do I need to know, what's important, etc.? Not a huge fan of the movies but I think I'd enjoy them in comic form way more. I've read a couple of the Justice League and Batman ones in the past, the new 52 serues, since they seemed like a fresh start. Everyone is saying the Vision is good and I love the art on the covers. Is it newbie friendly?

Grabbing up the Star Wars titles for sure.

Yes! It is a self-contained story that explores it's themes extremely well and with powerful moments throughout.

Having said that - for a total newbie I do think watching Avenger's Age of Ultron & Captain America: Civil War first would certainly help, noting that the relationship you see budding between The Vision & Scarlet Witch progresses far farther in the comics before they eventually split.

From there, the book The Vision picks up and you are in for an absolute treat.

Oh fuck I should get Punisher MAX since that probably won't ever go up on MU.

Edit: Is it just Volumes 1-5 for the MAX series?

finally own all of Hickman's Fantastic Four digitally

praise jesus

comic nerds - what other ancillary books should i get for this collection?

Books of Doom for the Doom
Lee/Jenkins Inhumans for the Inhuman aspect

who else shows up? i should get a Namor book for atlantis...

I hesitated on this because I have zero exposure to comics.

It seems like there's too much to even know where to start.

Like old school X-Men? Try Whedon's Astonishing X-Men

Miracleman is in this sale, and probably not coming to Marvel Unlimited because of content. Garth Ennis Punisher Max is there too.
