Infratest Dimap published earlier today the newest poll for the ARD DeutschlandTREND which looked up the view of the germans on the trustworthiness of their international allies.

For a comparison, this are the data from last November, also from Infratest Dimap

The US lost 38% trust while the mistrust rised the same. In just 8 months.

I am curios if other Gaffers have similar polls from their own countrys and ask them for posting them, since I am curious how we compare to other countries, who have historically maybe an even closer relationship to the US.

Russian and American numbers are the same. Makes sense considering it's the same guy leading both.

America losing to china again, sad!

(Pro-tip: One of the easiest ways to gain the trust of other nations is to demonstrate that you can consistently act in your own rational self-interest.)

Hey look, the US and Russia trust numbers are exactly the same! How about that.

I'm from the USA and my trust in the government and people in this country has plummeted to an all time low in the last eight months too. And I didn't have much to begin with.

Only 59% trust during the Obama administraton, which shows they probably just don't really like the U.S. no matter who's in charge.

Still, dat drop. Yeesh

Idk. People will all say "yea makes sense" or whatever. But polling at the same level as Russia seems pretty absurd.

Trump took office less than 6 months ago and he's been fought tooth and nail by the opposition in the US every step of the way so far. To the point where he hasn't actually accomplished much of what he wants to do.

People feel how they feel I guess.

How much has China's changed since last November?

Cant find any data. I think they have just started asking people for China since it wasnt on anyones mind before the recent developments started. Same with Turkey, they started asking just a couple months ago.

For more details regarding the developement with the US & Russia:

<3 our french bros

M'germanGaf <3

I just imagine my late grandfather being still alive and reading this. He wouldn't believe his eyes. He hated germans and was still convinced that they were gonna come back to get us one day lol. He never called them germans btw and always used a deragotary word in french.

If he knew that Germany is our most trusted ally and that his own grandson had many germans friend he would go mad.

Thing is people don't actually see that part. They probably only focus on just the Trump factor, the things he wants to do. The constant court battles and gridlock are not as interesting. Then again, the fact that Trump is the prez would be enough for me for distrust, as trump is riding Putin pretty hard.

Still, I'ld say that poll is actually pretty well educated. Under Trump the US is simply not a very trustworthy partner. Between the lines (and not so much between the lines) he made that perfectly clear.

One of the biggest accomplishments of the post-war time. The once archenemys, now the biggest friends.

We were never archenemys with the germans. It was the english. Always the english.

We finally became friends and fought two world wars side by side but now with Brexit ? Who knows :(

Trumps past 4 months has been more damaging than the last 10 years of Putin.

He threatened trade war with Germany on multiple occasions, he tried to extort money from germany on multiple occasions, he threatened and spoke out against the EU on multiple occasions, he fucked us over the paris agreement, he insulted us as very bad people and he currently is effectively destroying our western alliance.

He's literally worse than Putin for our security and prosperity.

It came down a lot after the revelation that the U.S was tapping our chancellorship for years and operations from their embassy in Berlin on the government.

That combined with far-left in Germany being anti-American (i.e many Linkspartei supporters) brought it quite low.

Trump and his allies are actively trying to dismantle the EU and hand Europe to Putin on a platter.

I bet if you asked the question. Do you trust american liberals/ Barack Obama ? Most people would answer yes. The problem is with the other half of the country.
