Friday the 13th: The Game |OT| You and your friends are dead. GAME OVER

So after saying stalk is pointless naturally tonight I use it and it was great.

I was walking towards a cabin, the last two counsellors inside discussing their last stand. I can hear them as i approach the cabin and put my stalk. To my astonishment the cabin door isn't even locked. I stroll inside and casually walk up behind them. They freak out I grab one and nail him to the wall lol.

I picked this game up over the weekend and now I'm hooked. Recently, I discovered Friday the 13th clubs on Xbox -- Now, I can always get into a full lobby in seconds -- and get this: Everyone has a mic. Can't believe it took me this long to discover Xbox clubs.

I've learned a ton about multiplayer options and headset settings. This game has gotten me playing live more than any game since Halo 3.

Hoping on now!

I once was chasing the last counselor as they ran up to a house. Turned on Stalk, sped up through the door just as the counselor closed and barricaded it, and went in for the kill. Felt badass.

Maybe someone with more time can check, but can you get all of the movies cheaper individually or are some not available on BluRay outside of the collection?

Well, you can't get Jason Goes to Hell or Jason X on blu ray for one thing.

Only way to get part 4 is a combo pack of 3 and 4 which goes for $35-$40.
Only way to get 7 and 8 is a combo pack that goes for about $70-$80.

So $120ish for 3/4 and 7/8. $10 for part 1, $10 for part 2. 5/6 is $14. And you can get a combo of F13 remake/NoES remake/Jason vs Freddy for $10.

You're looking at $160 for all the movies except Jason 9 and 10. I got the bluray collection for $180 but it was $130-150 back in January and I thought that was too much.

If anyone ever spots a set at bestbuy (have heard people finding them), they're only $100 or so, and I'd say you could get $500 for it brand new unopened.

Had my first real negative experience tonight and its left me feeling pretty down and dissappointed in myself.

I joined a game that had a group of active talkers, about 5 or so of the 8 had mics and were chatting away, there was a group of like 3 younger guys who seemed to know each other, myself and another guy.

They were all quite new to the game it seemed, on my playthrough as Jason I despatched them all really easily and when they were all dead I heard them saying what a good Jason I was.

Things were going well, a talkative group, a host who didn't quit when he was the first to die. Then things quickly went sour.

A new round started and I was in a building, see two counsellors running to my location as out of the blue someone playing as Brandon starts team killing the other player. Team killers suck, so I try to shoot him with my shotgun for being a jackass and miss, I now have no weapon so I run away, eventually I escape via the cops.

When I get back to the lobby I hear this older guy spouting racial slurs because the guy was playing as Brandon. Telling these younger, impressionable kids to kill him only he used another word which I'm sure you can imagine to describe him.

The team killer's name had the word mexico in it, and then this guy starts calling him racial names towards people from mexico. I hear these younger kids chuckling and this older asshole seeming to think it was so cool he had a platform to spout his racial hate nonsense.

I wanted to tell him to shut the fuck up but I couldn't. I kind of froze and quietly quit out the game. Totally ruined my night and I wish I had said something and stood up to him. Now I feel like an asshole.

Find the boat propeller right off the bat and get it installed.

After my 4th house I find fuel.

Going to escape by boat for the first time!

Get almost to the exit and Jason pops out of the water and kills me.

Fuck!

I love this game

Kids are often going to laugh at that kind of thing, they still live with a number of restrictions in their life, so every transgression gets them excited. That is why children try homophobia, misogyny, or racism, on. It has nothing to do with hate, it is all about the transgression. So, don't feel too bad about them being influenced by some asshole's hateful words, they aren't going to take anything from it. Eventually they will be confronted with the ugliness of those words, and then they will have to decide how they use them from that point onward.

More importantly, you calling him out on it, while it would have probably been the right thing to do, wouldn't have actually amounted to much. I just don't think you should beat yourself up over this incident.

Any word on when Xbox is getting another update to fix all these problems? I know they're adding some bonuses tomorrow as a thank you to make up for all the shit people have had to deal with, but all I really want is a patch that fixes the constant crashing and make the game playable.

Also, how many patches has PC and PS4 had by now?

Is there a solid PS4 Gaf community for this game? I've watched alot of streams and this game looks really fun, unfortunately none of my current friends list (mostly DestinyGAF) picked it up and I'd love to play with as few "randoms" as possible if I pick this up in the next couple of days

Does anyone know if the councilors have different HP/Health amounts? It seems like some characters take less damage than others, although the ones that I'd think should take more die easier to me.

I was just playing a game as Adam and he literally went into critical mode after 1 throwing knife being thrown at him. On the other hand, I've played as the small stealthy women characters and been hit multiple times with Jason's melee plus multiple throwing knifes and still not been in critical danger. The damage system seems.... off, to me to say the least

Yup. Nothing better then with friends. Even when there were about 6 of us it was a complete and total blast. I really just can't say enough about how fun it is. The matchmaking certainly does need work though on consoles. When I'm solo I get games quick. When you're in a group you almost never get games.

So I was playing with my friend, he has the gas for the boat and along comes a younger kid who has the propeller. So I say to my friend, "hey since I have to stay behind drop your shotgun" which he does.
Suddenly 2 more counselors show up at the boat and everyone starts jockeying for position to try and steal a spot, all in a line across the boat. It occurs to me this would be the perfect time to test the shotgun. So I back up, flank everyone and without missing a beat pull the trigger, drop my friend, the kid, and some random, the 4th player barely got in first.

I knew it was wrong but it felt so right, seeing 3 players all go through the death animation at the same time was hilarious.

The absolute worst is when you finally get to be Jason, manage to teleport right in the middle of a big group of counselors, off a couple, then the host gets pissed and just stops the game. Such bullshit.

I think there is - the trick is to either add and play with people from here. Then check out the official Friday the 13th Community on the PS4 and weed out people from there. I've added several people I've found randomly through the community.

Feel free to add me if you get the game

Will they ever patch this thing? It really pisses me off when we start a game and the host decides to leave.I can't believe that a game in 2017 has this kind of mp.

Yeah, now that quick play is working a bit better (at least on PS4) they really need host migration in place. Hosts rage quitting is a legit issue now.

I can't be the only one who gets a mild heart attack everytime I spawn near a car, right? I almost always get noticed by Jason immediately the times I do as most of them morph to it at the start of the game, maybe I'm just unlucky lol

I really hope host migration is coming soon

Yup, all MP games should have it really.

So, I know it's bragging but I like to think I've gotten pretty good as Jason at this point. I'm usually killing everyone or only allowing one survivor, and it's really rare when multiple people survive. My quick tips for Jason players (probably 'yeah duh' stuff but whatever)

  • Take out the power generators early, preferably at the very start of the game. Taking out the power helps make the counselors a little more scared and thus slightly easier to pick up with your sense. On top of that they should get a minor hit in stamina regen since they aren't in light anymore. Taking out the power also stops them from calling Tommy Jarvis which, at least temporarily, prevents you from being killed.
  • Trap that phone fuse box, can't always count on the audio clue when someone screws up the fuse box installation.
  • The common thing I see Jason's do at the start of the game is morph to one of the cars at the start of the game, scare off anyone who's there right away, maybe score an early kill, and then lay traps around the car. Honestly I try to avoid doing this and try to give players the hope of fixing the car up first. If you trap up the car too early I've noticed that players will avoid the car entirely for a good chunk of the game (or come back once they can disarm traps). Personally I like to let the car stay a viable escape option, because as the game progresses it's going to become a gathering point for players as the car gets closer to being completed. That way you can morph in on them and have your shift ready to get a few kills on counselors that are attempting to fix the car. Save trapping the car for when they've already put gas and/or the battery in.
  • Frequently check the map, especially if there is a boat in play. It's amazing how many Jasons let people escape via boat because they don't check their map and see the boat icon moving. If you get the jump on players trying to escape via boat it's basically two free kills.
  • Stalk is your friend. Most of us here had this discussion yesterday but if you have a counselor trapped in a cabin, break a few windows, then stay out of their line of sight and activate stalk. After a few moments the person in the cabin will almost certainly walk outside right towards you. It's also great if you know a counselor is about to walk around a corner. If your mic is in, throw in some kind of fake "oh shit" comment before activating stalk just to make the other player think you had to morph out in a hurry ;)
  • Late game, if you're hunting one or two surviving players and one of them is female - check Jason's cabin. Something I've been seeing lately is that female counselors will try to go for the sweater late game purely for the stun ability, or in general hover around Jason's cabin since it's usually an out of the way location that most Jason players don't revisit unless they get the alert from Mom.

Yea That host migration can't get here soon enough. It gets so annoying.

Yup this list is a must for Jason players. I catch so many off guard just taking out the generators. I actually use my traps for the generators. After that they're easy pickings till that last couple. Eventually though even they go down. muahahahahaha

Missing:

One of the first things you should do is find the cabin with the phone and trap the fusebox. Getting the fuse and calling the cops is one of the easiest ways for Counselors to escape.

Great guide, but where is the point where you trap the fuse box as fast as you can? Expected it to be at least the second point. You CAN'T let that out. :D

I don't think this advice will be useful for much longer for a couple reasons. When you activate Stalk it immediately shuts off the music so unless you walk away from the counselor and then activate you just gave away that you're stalking. And walking away means you can't hide behind a corner waiting to pounce. People won't be oblivious to this for long. I'm hoping it gets a buff that gradually (though quickly) turns down the music. Also, Morph causes VHS static so that tactic should only work on people who just started playing.

Yeah, the very first thing I do is trap the fusebox. If the player and item spawns fall into place, you can spawn in the house with the fusebox/phone AND find the fuse in the same house. You can call the cops within 90 seconds if luck is on your side.

Yeah, an update so Stalk fades out the music instead of doing an immediate cutoff would be better.

good tips and yeah anytime I spawn right next to the car I will high tail it out of that area. Even though the houses will have a lot of the items I need. The worst part about this game is when people do not communicate. Two of the most crucial items in my opinion is the map and the walkie talkie. I have a perk where I start with the map first, heard there is one for the walkie talkie..but yet to get it.

Feel free to add me on XB1 - GT: Tekezy

The LFG is a crapshoot if you get a good group of people or not. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. The times I do, I never want to stop playing since it is such an awesome experience working together with people in the game.

anyone getting dead by daylight?

Good list except for the fact about not trapping the car. I used to not do that because trapping it caused the game to hit a standstill and made for a boring match since no one would even go for the car. I find it fun as Jason in letting players get the car because stopping or chasing the car made for some exciting moments instead of just hunting players the whole match.

But I've come to realize how broken this tactic is and how easy it is to get points for doing it. Plus it makes the match go fairly fast since none of the counselors try to play the objectives or just give up and quit. Until they nerf traps or this strategy, I'll stick with doing it in the meantime for the easy XP.

Great tips which I'll keep in mind next time I have the chance to play as Jason. It's a bit annoying as I honestly have rarely gotten to play as him. Even setting him as my preference doesn't seem to matter.
