Another great deal:
30 gold coins to get 10% off on Ever Oasis or RPG Maker Fes (saves you 4 EUR).

You can also just preorder the games at retail for a lower price. This program is really the gift that keeps on giving.

And it began so great with bunch of free games with both platinum and gold coins. And here people thought the Switch would change things.

So....nothing has changed with E3? Do you think they are waiting until the initial flurry of coins from new system associated purchases expire before bringing out the good stuff?

No, the "good stuff " is never coming. This is what the service is.
Yep, pretty much.

Expect the "Switch rewards" to be themes.

This whole "rewards program" is just a campaign to get people to stop buying physical and start buying everything digital so that Nintendo makes a lot more money by taking away not just the physical product, but your ability to lend or sell your games.

But whatever, I use it from time to time. I just don't expect anything out of it and I certainly don't make purchases with the idea that I'll make enough gold coins to achieve some reward.

The problem I always find myself in with the program is that I already own the games that go on sale.

and as said, it is cheaper to buy the game at retail than to get that 10% for 30-60G.

Make the same deal for Miitopia and then we'll talk.

The way the program is currently structured, it rather deters from buying digital. Digital = more expensive, no resale, no rewards. Retail = Much cheaper, resale, no My Nintendo rewards either.

Normally you want to reward your customers with a loyalty program to gain customers' loyalty. When a loyalty program has bad rewards as this, it achieves the opposite. Your customers are more dissatisfied than if you had no such program at all.

By "no rewards" do you mean "no worthwhile rewards"? Because you do absolutely earn rewards on digital games purchase through the eShop. So I'm a little confused.

On Switch you earn a fraction of rewards for physical, 20% I think.

Anyway, agreed, it's certainly not accomplishing its goal. But it's pretty clear they hoped that they'd accomplish it.

Well, do you consider what is up on the store right now a "reward"? I wouldn't say so.

Yeah, okay, I did understand you correctly. I'm being strict about the term, you're rejecting the use of the term.

It doesn't have much value to me, no—certainly not enough to drive purchasing behavior in any way. But it's still technically a "rewards program", even if the rewards are valueless.

Anyway, this is semantics.

But to encourage people to buy more digitally, they would need to offer something that people see value in. 30% off games that are way cheaper at retail isn't really too encouraging.

I really think you're arguing with something I'm not saying.

You were saying
"This whole "rewards program" is just a campaign to get people to stop buying physical and start buying everything digital so that Nintendo makes a lot more money by taking away not just the physical product, but your ability to lend or sell your games."

But I don't see that with the program as it is now.

I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.

Y'all were foolin yourselves that Switch was going to make it better.

There was never anything stopping them from giving away games like before, they just don't want to do it.

I swear this is the 56th time the Oracle games go on sale since this service exists. Give me something to work with here Nintendo please. Other than 15 years old that if you don't own now you probably never will.

Now that they're planning "virtual console as a service" on the Switch (next year when paid online is instituted), stuff like free VC game rewards are never coming back, IMHO.

And Salmon Rush means I'm going to have to pay for online if I buy a Switch. Salmon, wielding skillets, coming for revenge (and a monthly service fee).

Fils-Aime also discussed My Nintendo and what the future holds for the company's rewards program. "From the Nintendo of America standpoint, we have it as a priority to make My Nintendo much more meaningful moving forward," he said. When asked if physical rewards might ever come to the program, Fils-Aime said "it could" before discussing a few of the challenges that come with doing something like that in the Americas.

"The challenge I would just share is, unlike Japan, which is a very concentrated market, I've got to create solutions that are going to work for Canada, that are going to work for Latin America," he explained, noting that because it's a "much more diverse marketplace... physical goods gets a little more challenging." That isn't to say Nintendo is ruling it out, though. "Could I envision unique physical goods as part of the program? Sure. But it really needs to work for all of our consumers, not just the consumers in the United States," he added.

Great way to marginalize your customers, Reggie.

I think mynintendo account is glitched. I cannot see the discounted prices for the games of the E3 sale for the 3DS games in my console, and I have a NNID linked since forever. I can see them with another 3DS and NNID, so are there reports of bugged NNIDs?

EDIT. It somehow fixed itself.

No one posted the new rewards?

To celebrate the launch, we've prepared two special new wallpapers featuring all ten fighters. Be sure to redeem your My Nintendo points and download yours today.

Wallpaper - ARMS - All-Stars 1 (Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Ninjara, Master Mummy and Mechanica)
Wallpaper - ARMS - All-Stars 2 (Min Min, Twintelle, Byte&Barq, Kid Cobra and Helix)

JPEGs!

Is there really not going to be bigger rewards update in the middle of the month?

I really wish I hadn't forgotten about that RPG rewards expiration. Hopefully Xenoblade X is still a Birthday offer in October like last year.

Bin stocking up on some Virtual Console games for my WiiU, so I'm good in that regard. Gonna have to dip back into Wii Mode for some missed gems too. I am so glad I did not early adopt the Switch and sell off my WiiU in the process.

I have gold coins expiring this month but nothing to spend them on. :/ I can't believe we still don't have Switch rewards, either.

Actually MyNintendo may actually be good for Virtual Console on Switch.

Without Virtual Console games to buy most of the rewards would be gone. They need to have something.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Was going to spend my expiring coins on ARMS wallpaper - "not available in your region". Failing to pay for region locked wallpaper in 2017. What a time to be alive.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.

The fact that the points expire is the biggest kick in the ass of all. I mean, there's nothing to spend them on. At least let me hoard them.

They must have statistics on what percentage of coins are allowed to expire, right? I mean, they can see that like 90% of people are just letting their coins expire, which means that no one wants any of the rewards enough to redeem them?

Because if they have those stats surely they must realise that either:
a) They should do away with the service and the associated costs of running it as it provides no value to them or to the consumer, or
b) They need to make it better

Hey! I think my kids would actually like those. Awesome, something to use my Gold coins!
