Been a weird experience searching out reactions on twitter. Who'd have guessed that teenage pop fans would be so interested in a film based on the evacuation of Dunkirk lol

I was not going to see it, but reading these impressions make me want too.

There is no 70MM showing around here, but there is an IMAX screen.

Not even trying to be edgy. Plot was bad, weird story twists that make no sense, tonally dissonant (portrays itself as hard science fiction, fantasy deus ex machina turns out to be the reason for everything happening). The directing and acting however was really good. It's a bad movie that Nolan made watchable.

Yeah can't believe Dunkirk might get a load of young Harry Styles fangirls checking it out lol. Might actually get a pull at the box office if he has a long enough part.

There's definately a myth - but I still don't understand how people can underplay 400,000 soldiers being evacuated off a beach in days, all while under fire. It's an incredible human achievement.

Nearest Imax screen is 50 miles away from me but I'm absolutely driving to see this in it. It seems like the way the film was meant to be experienced

After interstellar I was verrrrry salty and weary of this one especially since the trailers haven't really grabbed me. But The Prestige is my third favorite movie of all time and Memwnto isn't far behind so I know Nolan still has great movies in him. I'm hoping this is one

Nothing in the trailers made me excited for this. And I'm a huge Nolan fan and love WW2 movies lol. The trailers just left me cold and nothing really grabbed me. So these impressions are encouraging.

Happy to see all these great early impressions since I was a bit worried about this one. Even though I knew Nolan is the master of making intense movies I was bit worried after the trailer and the pg-13 rating that this wouldn't be gritty enough for a war movie but it seems my worries had no basis.

Also a bit surprised by that short runtime compared to other Nolan movies, should be a really intense experience. Seems that Nolan's record for making only good movies is still intact.

Not sure if I could have gotten more excited for this film. I cant wait and I probably wont be able to watch it for at least a week after it comes out.

The unironic Nolan worship is cringe, but this sounds like everything I hoped it would be; cinematic spectacle but without the pretentious storytelling. Pretty much everything I appreciate about Nolan as a director without all the stuff that tends to be the source of my main gripes with his films..

Perhaps, but the trailer for Dunkirk seems to highlight a lot of (innefective) violence.

Old war films...can't say I see the correlation here.

Anyway, we'll see. Not going to get caught up in the usual Nolan hype.

can't see it day one since I'm set on seeing it 70 mm IMAX...so the first chance I will get to do that is the universal CityWalk on Wednesday after the opening. gonna be worth it though

Awesome. Sounds like exactly the kind of movie I was hoping for after the prologue. His mad max and gravity comparisons now make more sense. Seems like a movie that is just gonna throw you in the shit right away and stay being a thrill to the end

Does anyone know if it was mixed in Atmos? I saw Logan on those speakers and it was otherworldly, would love to experience the same for Dunkirk

I think it's intentionally sort of meant to be like that! Toss Fury Road in a blender with films like The Battle of Algiers, A Man Escaped, and Gravity and that's kind of what Nolan is going for, methinks.

Agreed, the early reviews are ridiculous and 0% trustworthy and the people getting all mad defending Interstellar (lol) aside, this seems like it has a lot of potential to be a really good movie. Not a lot of room for Nolan to get in his own way on this one.

Hearing that there is little dialogue is the best thing I could possibly hear about a Nolan movie. Looking forward to it.
