Just as long as you dont have activated a checkpoint, you don't have to reset back to the map.

Damn, that's a lot of loading back and forth that I could have saved in my time with Crash 1...

I'm not far yet into Crash 2, are there similar no death runs to do in 2 and 3?

Also, congrats on your 3 plats posted a few posts up from this.

Yeah going to echo what others have said Crash 2s bosses are lame.

Especially N.Gin who is such a slog to play. His gimmick is really easy to figure out its just soooooooo boring.

It's both cool (and stupid looking) that they actually mapped a Wumpa throwing animation to both of Crash's arms from whichever direction he's facing. I remember the original was just a lazy Wumpa sprite shooting out of his side.

Will get the Crash 2 Platinum Trophy in the next hour.
It was very fun too, but i liked Crash 1 more.

Crash 2 got too much backtracking and the levels are not that memorable to me.
Crash 1 was more straight forward pure platforming.

While the relics were easier in Crash 2, they were more fun to me in crash 1. But I love the slide jump in crash 2.

I may wait for a possible patch to fix the physics so the rope jumps and turtle hops don't make me want to kill myself.

I really doubt they're gonna patch the physics back. I assume they changed them for a reason.

Pretty amazing that Naughty Dog made the racing levels they did in Crash 3, then somehow went on to make one of the most fun racers ever. The controls on this thing are awful

I usually don't go for platinum trophies, but for Crash 1 I somehow just had to. And I did it today! Super happy and relieved.

Fuck High Road time trial.
FUCK HIGH ROAD TIME TRIAL!

This one forced me to get good at rope jumping. It took me like an hour just to get it halfway-consistent, and even then it was almost a 50/50 chance of overshooting 'em or slipping off. Definitely one of the most frustrating things I've ever done in a game... and the first time I actually reached the end: sapphire. LOL
My experience, word for word

crash 2 plat get

some of those time trails got to me but in the end i ended up 50/50 split between gold and platinum relics

gonna stop for a bit before starting the clean up for crash 1, that's gonna take awhile

All the gems done on Crash 2. From what I'd read I expected to have a worse time with Cold Hard Crash than I did, it wasn't easy but making sure I entered the death route with two Aku Aku masks (ready for invincibility) made things way easier. Honestly if the ice wasn't present in the level I'd have had even less problems with it.

Piston it away wasn't too bad either after a couple of attempts, I had more of an issue with clearing the bonus room without taking damage. I'd planned to have at least one Aku Aku mask with me as a fall back then on my successful run getting the crates gem I cleared it without taking damage!

I honestly had more of an issue backtracking on one of the earliest levels in the game (I forget the stage name, but its the one where you have two routes and have to backtrack through one to get the crates in the other route). The 3D sections aren't great at backtracking thanks to the camera. Didn't have an issue on Diggin' it though... I just must be very lucky!

I hated the jet pack levels though. I had an awful time judging distance between obstacles and messed up way more than any other level for the time trials especially. Only have around 5 time trials left and I'm done, not sure if I prefer Crash 1 or Crash 2 as both have there fair share of excellent levels I loved speed running/replaying.

Just got 100% on Crash 2. Honestly, I didn't have as much fun with it as I did the original, or even NST Crash 1. The changes from the original to the remake kinda hindered a few things for me, while Crash 1 had nowhere to go but up. And I did kinda come to realize that Crash 2 has a similar problem as Sonic 2, where the back half/endgame becomes a bit of a slog. Before I say anything definitive on it though, I do wanna replay the PS1 version again just to see if it's the remake I have issue with or Crash 2 itself.

Before I move onto Warped, I think I'll do these relic runs and get the first two platinum trophies. For those that didn't know, the time trial leaderboards are available to peruse on the official Crash website.

Who the fuck designed the motorcycle levels in Crash 3? I don't even know what to say with how bad this thing controls.

3D platformers need to stop with the bad gimmick levels. Getting flashbacks to Yooka Laylee here Rextro shit here :/

Going to attempt the time trial for Road to Nowhere again tonight. I was so close last night watching a LP on YouTube, that last bit with the ice platforms is legitimately insane. It honestly seems like a level somebody designed to see how much of an asshole they could be.

My girlfriend (who only ever played like the first 4 levels of Crash years ago, never getting to PapuPapu) who's not a big gamer got slightly hooked on Crash 1 two days ago. Progress was slow and she was getting stuck on levels like Native Fortress.

I was watching her play today and shes already nearly at Cortex :/ only like two levels behind it. I can't believe it. She beat all the hard ass levels (with issues mind you). I really thought she would rate quiet by Native Fortress and try Crash 2 but she wouldn't let it beat her.

omfg, Anyone else ran straight to the goal before waiting for the last 3 TNT blocks to blow up for the gem in The Lab? I just did that after trying for 20+ minutes trying for the gem...

Currently playing Crash 2. The 'run for your life' levels are starting to get annoying and I feel like there's too many of them.

Rextro's minigames werent that bad and are actually quite easy
Well the racing minigame was annoying but the later ones werent that diificult

I've gotten 100% in Crash 1 & 2. Not sure if I'll bother to go back and get all the relics; High Road is just miserable, Sunset Vista goes on forever and the Lab seems like it's luck based to get a good time, with what is basically a blind jump through a electricity trap and on to an opening floor. Crash 2 is more interesting though because of the addition of the running shoes. The worst levels for me were the ones with the bees and the fast shoes partially negate that.

I just don't understand why it's so much harder to stay on the ropes in The High Road than it is in Road to Nowhere. This is so frustrating trying to do a relic run. Road to Nowhere was actually kind of a breeze compared to this.

You can spin the bees on Bee-Having.
Attend in front of the hive and position yourself until the bees start to come out, slide spin into them, and pick up the life they drop, and just repeat this. You can get 99 in like 5 minutes.
Whoa, never knew this. Was this a trick in the original too?

I just started Crash 1 a few days ago. I've been getting every gem and relic as I go along. Tonight I just got my gold relic for The High Road. It took me at least two hours, but felt so rewarding when I finally finished. Now I am in the home stretch for my platinum trophy. I never really played more than a few minutes of any of these games so it has been a fun experience.

Yeah Crash Bandicoot is a really satisfying game. Good luck with your platinum :)

IMO

I am a bit dissapointed to be honest. For good or bad, it's just the same games as it was 20 years ago and to me.. that hasnt aged well :(

Keep at it. You can do it ✓

Thanks. Now slippery and the lab to get the plat.

This is my first time playing Crash. The game is demanding because you have to time the full hop and short hop and when to do them at the exact moment. But is extremely satisfying compared to modern games. The game itself is not hard, there is tricky levels but nothing frustrating. The real challenge comes with the platinum. I recommend trying it or at least get the color gems. Is funny.

all games get in crash 1

now for the final task on the list before i am finished with this collections, crash 1 time trails

i have a feeling that it isn't gonna be easy

That's a shame man. I on the other hand would have not been happy if VV deviated from the original framework.

Yeah very much. I even purchased the game at on overprice because it was all sold out everywhere - wanted to play it badly. I didnt mind the flaws back in the days.. In fact I didnt even think they were flaws back then. But when I played through the first game and its 2D platforming parts yesterday I all wanted was to play Donkey Kong Country instead. And the 3D levels just doesnt feel 'right' cant explain it.. the magic was lost :(

Very happy for everyone else enjoying themselves though.

Yeah some of the time trials demand pin point precision from the player. It's kind of odd how satisfying some of these Crash Bandicoot challenges really are, almost Bloodborne levels of euphoria :p

What can I say mate; it's unfortunate that you don't feel this game as you once used to.

Why don't you give Crash Bandicoot 2 a go. It might regic what I assume is your fondness towards the classics.

Extra lives in Crash 2 bonus levels won't repopulate even if you game over on the level and hit retry, lol.

Crash 1 was hard but at least I always had a bank of 20+ lives. In Crash 2 I've never had more than 7.

Yeah.. getting the distinct feeling that the fucked up ice controls in crash 2 is going to make me want to eat glass rather than get relics. They're SO BAD.

Just get lives from bee-having by sliding into the bees just as they pop out. Can get 99 in 7 mins or so

I just found out about this getting some DLC and simultaneously found out about Stormy Ascent which was cut from the original Crash.

Please VV, please. Let us have it.
