Anyone else feel like their gonna get fighting game fatigue at this rate? There are a shitload of new titles, ports, and other things from this year and more slated all the way through first quarter of next year. Plus more teased to be announced at EVO.

If I have to choose 2 at this point It'll probably be Arcana Heart Six Stars and Dragon Ball Fighter Z for just how much they let me experiment with and do. Still though theres still a marvel game, a sam sho, an Arika game, Injustice 2 if it ever gets its shit together about cinematic tax, GG stuff, yes BB still exists and CF is still worth hitting, tekken,Blade Strangers, rereleases of neogeo goodies, KOF 14 potentially extending further, whatever gets announced at EVO, UNIELst, and in my case a whole host of fighting history I am still trying to enjoy from my arcade like Vampire Savior stuff and Xmen COTA. Plus Things like DFCI, N+, UNIEL, Blade Arcus and Chaos Code.

God damned golden age of fighters right now but a man's got shit to do sometimes. No way will ANYONE keep up with all the gold out right now. Least of all my enthusiastic ass whose too dumb to stop enjoying classics once people drop em like TVC.

I wouldn't say fatigue, but more like I'm not as tuned in to everything like before. It just so happens that the games that I do care about are better hype looking than the ones I stopped paying attention to or following.

Unrelated note, hope Suzaku Castle looks really good when it comes out.

That moment when you realize you didn't use prime sub on Twitch this month and it's EVO time; *kisses finger tips*

Well shit I just learned something new. Koihime Enbu has an arcade only update that was MAJOR. It added a new character, a new assist strategist and it also made you able to choose ANY ASSIST YOU WANTED. Before you could only choose one of two strict assists for your character...certain folks couldn't use certain strategists because they were on opposing sides in that story world. No fucks given now.

Damn Marvel...you picked the wrong year to under achieve. From the leaked final roster, to the recycled roster picks, to the change up in mechanics, to the whack dialogue in the demo, to putting a magnifying glass on unfinished models and textures...you did it on the WRONG YEAR.

Dragonball Fighter Z did almost everything the fans asked for with an equally or possibly even more popular license.

Check out the differences in lines at EVO for MVCI and DBFZ

Its like a small group with no wait versus an entire plaza crowding to get in line. MVCI needs to get its shit together man. At this rate releasing before DBFZ is its only help because if they push it back to fix it I still dont think it can compete with all the work ASW has done already. It'd lose in a head to head. When EVO is turning out more for a non Marvel game than a new Marvel game something is bad wrong capcom. Its fucking EVO for crying out loud and DBFZ only has six dudes in it at the moment.

Longer rant deleted here so I'll try to be a better Shaowebb and summarize my thoughts with bullet points.
  • SFV is too rigid and not fun. I can't praise it. Especially with the way they nickel and dimed folks for things it shouldn't have launched without.
  • MVCI looks fun but it doesn't look like what we asked for. It looks like they recycled cast, put it together as fast as they could, couldn't afford much with licensing and hid the best they could afford behind a paywall, and the only way to differentiate it from the previous game it borrowed so heavily from was to completely scrap its core and change to a totally different format.
  • I still want capcom to succeed because I love their characters and am vested in them, but I openly do not approve of how they over promise, short change and then DLC you to death for base content. I want them to succeed, but only if they LEARN to just listen and level up like the fighting game competitors did.

I want capcom to grow and it'll only happen if their are enough folks voicing the criticism that should be present when they do stuff. We want them on top because we miss that amazing feel they used to have and how they used to blow past expectations. Now the competitors put out consistently better, more exciting, fresher fighting games and I'd like for them to keep up. I get irritated because they not only dont but openly seem to talk down to folks telling them that they need to stop sitting on their laurels and pay attention. I'm not the only one.

Yeah that picture is already debunked by people who were actually there.

It's hella crowded on both set ups. DBZ had more crowd because of the tournament but once that was over it kinda evened out.

Crazy new shit people did in DBFZ today.

-Raw tagged mid combo and continued comboing
-Comboed a dragonrush off a vanish extender in mid air,
-Did some sort of teleport overhand with Goku that was like a vanish cost a bar but allowed Goku to combo into an easy 50%
-Cell hit with a full screen unblockablte command grab. Only way to avoid is to jump.
-Call Vegeta assists while blocking to punish safe shit with a full combo

MvCI has like 10 setups or something. I don't think DBZF had nearly that much?

Anyways, I spent quite a long time playing MvCI today after my pools were done. I'm enjoying this game a lot more than I thought I would. Much more fun playing with people. Game feels very much like only Vs in terms of movement for me. I actually want to spend more of day 2 doing that again.

Played a lot of infinite.
They didnt change movement or gamefeel so everything is still super stiff. Chickenblock prevention happens until near peak of jump, but it specifically seems to be like thay bc being airborne is basically unfuckable w unless you commit hard. Can't seem to combo off airthrows without corner and throw range seems shortened.

Zoning is hard to navigate bc of shitty movement so it's similar to skullgirls in that feel where weak looking tools are strong bc of overall weakness of options. Reality stone is scramble stone bc of that rn as you can force scrambles hard w it

Scaling is really high on lights but if you get hit by a raw heavy normal or super tag it easily does 1touch kill range

Both iron man and ultron have the generic flight combo w hp dash hp flight lp hp dash hp x n, seems to be decent starter combo

morrigans new move looks really cool visually but neg edge release is too specific to be effective- dumbfire space control will easily be better

keepaway prob doesnt exist at all, the chip and lack of meter buils alongside screen spacing make it easy to just block your way in w no harm.

ultron drone summon is really goddamn slow and reactable at spacing where its relevant

overall impressions are still p negative- the stuff i have an issue w gamefeel wise is the same and the overall kinda incongruent design of mechanics doesnt really make sense to me still

the booths command list attached under the monitors apparently have different control schemes fsr, w the ones facing to the entrance having switch on top and the ones facing the wall having stone on top. weird.

iron man is overlooked super hard rn imo. f+hp unibeam smart mine and his movement make him really good

btw real trijumps are gone now, the height limit to input normals rn is same as demo and still high enough to be fuzzy guarded. Probably are reactable by people who actually have em.

Reality storm is better than the cube by far bc it interrupts combos like hidden missiles and gives you combos while also being possible to activate a fucking lot thanks to the vskill. Preemptive storms to stop comeback situations are p real and reality is the best there thoughfor comebacks it's not great since it's so easy to run from

Edit: Just woke up and remembered to write: reflecting fireballs is braindead easy and competitive players will prob have most fireball reaction reflect down in 2 or so months from release. astral fb gameplan is so, so, so toothless for various reasons but this is easily one of the biggest ones. Still havent managed to reflect Zero blaster yet so thats one of the ones that will prob stay good thanks to its travel speed and punishment result for just guess pbing since blaster wallbouces now into full low scaling combos

Oh also the "point is assist tagging in guy takes advantage of that" concept gets fuuuuucked up by reaction super into high dmg combos. You see ryu throw fb tag? Light his ass up and birthday or combo at least one of em. This may be an important tool for good chars that tony doesnt have

Using a crowd of people at a convenient and specific time of the day as a barometer of success is bizarre lol. I have no doubt DBF will do good but let's be real here.

What time a day does it need to be? Is there footage of it? We need footage because right now all we have is video evidence to go by for those of us at home. May as well gauge it up properly and have folks swing by a few times to do left right pans for crowd checks.

Not as bad as they made it seem because of the differences in amount of stations but that DBFZ vs MVCI crowd still looks thinner on the marvel side to me.
Someone mentioned there were more people around because there was an actual tournament, well a few tournaments for db but aside from that both varied.
