Avengers IW trailer info

If we are going to get TV peeps in, they can be a second team. Thanos kills everyone except Cap or Iron Man and the after credits sting is them assembling a team to take another shot at him with The Defenders and some of the Agents of Shield.

I still think Coulson will die in the series finale of AOS and whoever uses the Gauntlet to fix everything at the end of Avengers 4 will resurrect him. That way if you only saw the movies, he's back.

Guys. You gotta understand that these movies are seen on a level far greater than any of the TV series. The TV series probably aren't even easily available in half of the countries these movies play in. I'd wager that the percentage of folks who watched The Avengers that also watch Daredevil is under 10.

The most you should ever expect for the TV characters is a cameo, and even then I don't think that will ever happen.

From what I remember, Netflix doesn't give out viewership data so we don't actually know how many people watched Daredevil or Jessica Jones. For what it's worth, I know a good decent amount of people who you wouldn't expect to be interested in cape stuff that have watched either DD or JJ

You really expect them to stake the future of the MCU films on The Defenders and AOS? Not happening. That is a huge step of from giving a few fighting scenes. Won't happen. Far more better characters to make mainline films around. Haven't even got into Captain marvel yet. She's the "Superman" type heavy hitter I think MCU is waiting for.

Huh, this actually has me thinking.

We know that Carol Danvers is in IW. We know that IW will most likely end with Thanos basically winning. We know that Captain Marvel is coming out between Avengers 3 and 4. And we know she gets her powers in her own movie.

Is Carol going to be the one that turns the tide in Avengers 4, making her the de facto leader of the Avengers going into Phase 4?

This is important to note. People expecting massive crossovers in terms of the TV show characters appearing in the movies with big roles will always be disappointed. The logistics of it don't work.

As a massive fan of the TV side of the MCU, all I want/hope for is some sort of cameo in the big final battle of Part 2. Show us The Defenders, Quake, Ghost Rider, etc. in battle somewhere in the world.

I will say that I do think throwing Coulson in would be fine as a cameo in this case. It's true, plenty of people don't watch the TV shows. But let's be honest, the general audience won't care. That big "final battle" moment needs to be a love letter to not just the MCU but the fans of the MCU as well. Just give fans that and most will be happy.

I believe it was the Russos themselves who gave an interview around the time Civil War came out where they said that the MCU is at the point where they can't worry about whether or not some people have seen previous movies or not. Some movies, such as Civil War, will be fully dependent on continuity. And that's fine: casual audiences will go for a fun summer blockbuster, the hardcore fans can enjoy the continuity and references.

I mean like with all the shit being destroyed in IW with Thanos they could cut to S.H.I.E.L.D. and like maybe one some monitors just a few glimps of like Daredevil and Luke Cage etc fighting some monsters n stuff that way it would please the TV verse fans and doesn't distract the MCU fans who may not know who they are?

The most interesting aspect of the two Infinity War movies is that two movies are releasing between the two -- Ant-Man and the Wasp & Captain Marvel.

How will those movies work? Will Infinity War have an incredibly dark ending where those two movies take place in a world where Thanos has taken over?

And if so, how great would it be to see all the TV shows that air between the two Infinity movies reflect that as well? That could include Runaways S2, Cloak & Dagger S3, (hopefully) Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. S6 and perhaps a Netflix show or two.

That, to me, is the dream tie-in for having a TV side of the universe. The big Avengers films being the "event comic" and the TV shows being the "tie-in issues."

I've been wondering that for a while. My fear is that they'll have to end IW with some excuse for Thanos to go away so they don't have to deal with that in the TV stuff.

Hope I'm wrong though. Seems like a gigantic logistic thing to get right if they try it.

Definitely. But that's the kind of stuff I dream of from having a giant universe. These wide events, once in a while, that impacts everything.

Maybe Ant-Man and The Wasp and Captain Marvel take place (at least partially) in alternative universes? Didn't Feige say something about Cap. Marvel also delving into that aspect? Or am I trippin?

I really think those two will just take place before the events of Infinity War and not really factor into that story.

It would be crazy if you need to watch Antman and Wasp and Captain Marvel to get the full Avengers 3 and 4 story.

I don't think you'd need to see them to get the full story but Avengers is the movie everyone will see. So if Ant-Man comes out and takes place before the big cliffhanger in Infinity War, which Ant-Man is likely apart of, that would be more confusing to casual audiences.

I believe that was Doctor Strange he was talking about. Something about how we saw a hint at the idea of other realities at the end of Ant-Man and that Doctor Strange would go a bit more into that direction. But he wasn't specifically talking about the comic style of Ultimate/2099/Noir alternate realities.

Edit: Funny and amazingly enough, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ended up being the first thing in the MCU to really dive into the batshit crazy comic book style of alternate realities.

I don't think so. We know Brie Larson is in IW, but with her not being promoted at all, she's likely just showing up as Carol Danvers. And we know Feige said she gets her powers in her own movie, so it kind of has to take place post-IW.

A few weeks back I did some quick counts, and noticed that if Agents of SHIELD S5 begins in early January, and runs uninterrupted for the whole season, it will still be on TV when Infinty War hits cinemas, with at least 4 episodes (I dont remember the exact count) to air after IW. The only way for this not to happen is if ABC does double blocks some weeks

If AOS does three arcs in S5, like they did last season, then I guess the final arc could have direct ties to IW, like the end of S1 did with Winder Soldier. AOS has mostly sidestepped direct movie references in recent seasons, and instead has been only influenced by the them. The Doctor Strange movie more or less opened the door for use of stuff like Ghost Rider and Darkhold.

I am not sure what will happen in the show, but after the quality of S4 I have faith they will air something worth watching, even if it is not as "all connected" as some want.

That could mean anything though. Like Carol could already be Captain Marvel in IW, but in her movie, we cut from her post-IW to a flashback of how she rose to the role. I mean even Wonder Woman takes place both before and after BvS.

My point is that if Captain Marvel proper were in this movie, they would be promoting the hell out of it. I mean look what they did with Black Panther and Spider-Man in Civil War. There's barely even been an official announcement that Brie Larson is in the movie, let alone a bunch of promotion of Captain Marvel.

SDCC is later this week. We haven't gotten any actual footage in a meaningful capacity. We didn't get even a first look at Spider-Man in Civil War until afew months before the movie actually released. Hell, they showed footage multiple times with him digitally removed (or not inserted, whichever).

Exactly this. And honestly, nothing has happened in the movies where it would deeply impact AoS. Winter Soldier directly changed their show. There's a chance that Infinity War could be something the show absolutely has to react to.

Footage is one thing, but there hasn't even been promotion. We knew from the moment CW was announced that Black Panther was in it. They made a huge deal out of it. We knew from the moment that the deal was made that Spider-Man was in CW. They made a huge deal out of it. Those were both way before any footage was shown.

There's been no promotion for Captain Marvel. None.

"magic" was the theme in S4

"space" will be the theme of S5

they should face Supergiant in the episode before/after IW and get wrecked. then have 4 episodes to hunt her down and take her out, killing Coulson in the finale

Whatever I'm remembering was much more recent (post-Dr. Strange's release). Like something I swear I read earlier this year. I tried googling it but can't find anything, so it's likely just a wrong memory.

Killing Coulson in the finale would be such a cop out.

Captain Marvel ain't in Infinity War. Kevin Feige has said time and again that she will debut first in her own solo movie. Brie Larson also haven't been listed on any cast list or seen during filming. She ain't in this movie.

She is almost certainly in it. Feige has said her movie is her origin story. Not that she would debut there.

Those open casting calls were for Infinity War and Avengers 4. None of us will know for sure until we see the movie, but I'll bet you Captain Marvel ain't in Infinity War. She will be in Avengers 4 though.

Ooh. If Coulson dies in S5, then he can be resurrected in Infinity War or Avengers 4 without having to deal with any of the baggage from AOS.

From the POV of the Avengers, he died (thanks to Loki) and came back to life. From the POV of AOS, he died (a different way) and came back to life.

Whether it's as Carol or Captain Marvel, I think she'll be in Infinity War. That casting call lists Larson as starring in Infinity War, not Avengers 4.

I'd rather the tv series be able to tell their own stories without having to tie into IW stuff that is otherwise completely unrelated to whatever the shows are about.

I also think that Ant-Man & the Wasp and Captain Marvel could potentially take place before IW, and it and Avengers 4 will most likely be right after another with little time inbetween since they said that Spidey's gonna enter his junior year after the event and he is "currently" in his sophomore.
It seems that starting this year, the movies don't take place around their release dates anymore (Guardians 2 being in 2014, Homecoming in 2016 (ignoring the "eight years after Avengers" continuity goof)) etc.

That leads to its own set of errors though.

We know that Wasp isn't in IW because they've said they want her to get her own focus in Ant-Man and Wasp, so if that movie takes place prior to IW it makes no sense for Wasp not to show up in an "all-hands on deck" situation like Thanos, especially considering Ant-Man will be there.

Damn. That's nice.

I bet you its like a 45 min long fight scene that starts like a normal marvel joint then half way it starts to seem dire.

Then in the last 15 mins, the music cuts off, and all you can hear is the SFX of them getting completely worked.

I was wondering if he'd appear since he is technically in possession of one of the Infinity Stones

I don't remember seeing his name in any of the announcements or promo material, and the trailer description sounds like it could even be a flashback to Avengers 1. So far I had been working on the assumption that he would die in Ragnarok (and for good this time).

Has it been officially confirmed anywhere that Tom Hiddleston is part of the cast?

He was one of the first to be confirmed for Infinity War.

Doesn't make much sense to me. the MCU heroes are so underpowered compared to their comic book counterparts and now your just going to make thanos his comic book self? A lot of asspulls required to have him loose

He lost to asspulls in the comic, anyway.

The Thor: Ragnarok teaser went live in April and the Black Panther teaser went live in June.

If we go by the release schedule of other teaser trailers, I think they might drop the teaser for IW in August and save the first full trailer to play before Ragnarok in November.

A trailer with potential Thor spoilers before Thor?

That's the only part of the teaser description that has me guessing on when they'd be happy to let this go public.

Well the first Ant-Man established a "world" in which time and space become meaningless, so that might work.

(Also the fact they took ages to announce Ant-Man was showing up - Rudd wasn't confirmed until June - suggests to me he's got a small role in the grand scheme of things)

I would love for this to happen:

Coulson could be resurrected and be like "resurrected again!?"
Tony confusingly reacts "again?"
Coulson - "ehh.. long story"
