Ben Affleck's Batman Future in Doubt as Warner Bros. Plots Franchise

An older Batman anchors the team IMO, I mean look at the Avengers RDJ is 52 in real life and is defacto leader of the Avengers.

He is one of the best parts of the DCEU so far. However considering The Batman is not happening for at least another 3+ years I can see why they might want a change.

Affleck was about the same age as RDJ when they both took on their roles. Only Marvel pumped out 3 solo Iron Man films before RDJ turned 50.

Please give him a proper send off in The Batman. It would be so sad to have the best live action Batman go out like nothing.

No surprise there. Affleck probably wants out of the role for personal reasons, and while Reeves still being on board is a good thing, there's probably a lot of production delays that are going to cause the film to push its release date forward. Not good for the DCEU.

Yeah I always thought it was an odd decision to make Batman way more aged than the rest of the DCEU cast.

It was part of their "realism" angle at the time. In retrospect it really didn't make much sense. Batman should have at least been 30 years old.

I think I said this a while back. I always knew he would do the 1st Batman film but anything after that was up in the air.

I'm not sure Reeves is going to want his Batman changed in the middle of his trilogy. It probably makes more sense to change things before that starts.

In hindsight it was a bad call to cast someone in their 40s for a part that could last 10+ years.

Wait a minute.

So ya'll telling me I might get a DickBats movie? And they could like totally do The Black Mirror considering how Reeves has been talking about his Batman?

Fuck you Marvel I might not get a Dick Ryder movie but DC is gonna give me the Dick instead.

Wait, doesnt this fuck up the DCU if the main actor is no longer that Batman? Unless if in that last Batman film he names his younger successor which would be pretty cool

Maybe their thinking at the time was they could churn out a Batman film every two years, and perhaps even a cameo shot in another movie annually.

This would be sad, I loved his Batman. I just don't understand why he'd leave if JL manages to be a huge hit.

Damn. Feel sorry for Affleck if that's the case. Batman is a dream role for him.

Didn't he only accept the role so he could get Live by Night made? I know I read he initially turned it down.

Y'all are crazy if you think Dick Grayson will be promoted to Batman on film. That never gonna happen.

I don't know, this article seems like it could be a negotiating tactic, just look at Daniel Craig with Bond who always talks about wanting to leave and yet is seemingly back again, when you're established like Affleck playing hard to get is often in your best interest, especially if he ends up being well received again in Justice League. Guess we'll see.

I would actually love to see Bruce Wayne give the cowl to Dick in the next movie. It'd give Ben a graceful exit while still leaving the door open to return down the road should he choose to, and anything to build audience recognition of the rest of the Batfamily is good in my eyes.

I was hoping it would go two Batfleck movies with the second being under the Red Hood and two Nightwing movies.

Than have Batman die either in Red Hood or the next Justice League film and then have Battle for the Cowl.

Why would Nightwing and The Batman be separate films if that was the case though?

Maybe they're going to introduce the character in Nightwing and then have him become Batman at the end of the movie.

A movie about a new Batman would be cool, but I don't think devoting another entire film to a new character becoming Batman is something anybody wants.

Nah cuz you can easily just cast another one.

You gotta think. Maybe Reeves wants this as well and it would suck if he did the first movie with Ben and then had to recast after that.

Might've had something to do with it, but he is a huge Batman fan. He even had a batcave built in his old house.

The article is suggesting that he would be recast BEFORE The Batman though.

Hes out Batman........

.....until we can find someone else to take up the role.

Wow, what a joke lol. I mean how hard is it to stop trying to force these movies out. I mean when Nolan was working on Batman Begins, the only stuido mandate was that there was a cool Batmobile! Now every movie has to tie into the larger universe they are trying to craft and tell its own story all at the same time.

RDJ is generally in a better position with Iron Man because even as he gets older the suit stuff can be conveyed with CGI and you just have a face shot in the suit. They can get around his age easily. Batman needs a certain physicality to the role. He needs to be in that suit for real at least half the time.

They won't reboot. They'll recast or replace with another character.

Yea there is no need to reboot. You just had a Wondy movie. You're getting Aquaman and hopefully we get some Flash news soon.

But yea I'm not seeing why there needs to be a full reboot. Just recast and bam it's done.

I know the perfect casting choice for Old Bruce

I've wanted a Batman Beyond movie with Keaton as Bruce for so long.

I don't know who Dick is and I doubt WB will do that for a main Batman film.

Honestly if Justice League is trash, just soft reboot with a Flashpoint, replace the actors like Ben and awful whatshisface Joker among others. At least Wonder Women is stuck in the past with her films and is good. Basically start cherry picking the good ones and get off the ground running with the Batman, Wonder Women 2.

If they remove Affleck as Bruce Wayne, then this is further proof that WB has no idead WTF they are doing with DCEU.

Or Ben wants out because his personal life is pretty shitty right now. Don't act like WB is the one kicking him out the door if he goes.

This film has been nothing but doomed from the get go. They should just can it and call it a day. As much as I loved Affleck in BvS and Suicide Squad, The Batman is one of those films that is more trouble than its worth.
