Games you remember, names you don't

Wiz 'n' Liz looks too fast and the character too small. It's not Flimbo's Quest either, the levels were more "organic" and didn't have that many straight lines.

Thanks for the suggestions though!
Trolls perhaps?

I was thinking Trolls but the screenshots I found looked rather less like the description. That one looks closer, though!

I've a nagging feeling there was a game that was fundamentally Trolls but with the licensed stuff chopped out (and maybe replaced with another licence?); can't remember the specifics if that was the case.

Edit: Oscar!

Can't find any Rock Man that isn't Mega Man on google but it's not the other ones.

Yeah I didn't ask in here for months because it felt sorta pointless but as time goes on I get more and more frustrated that I can't find it.
The shareware/freeware part is probably a big part of the problem, because literally every single other game I remember playing from that time were either in the Microsoft Entertainment Pack or MS DOS Shareware. I even started going through lists of shareware games to see if I could find it. No luck yet.

I think you missed my post
Sapphire Yours was shareware, present in several shareware packs and had an old DOS version as well. It also fits your description of the graphics, and the old 'intro' was a level with sapphire yours written in gems while the dude dug below it

smlwelcome2.gif

this is from a newer version, the dos version looked basically the same but rougher. can't find DOS screens sadly

It might not be what you want, but its close enough that i believe it could be.

PC game - I think that it was designed for Windows 97 or XP
Main character is a fox and what I remember of the gameplay is that you are collecting apples in something that looks like a forest themed maze. The camera is either isometric or behind the fox. I didn't play much of it as I think it crashed continuously.

N64 - It was one to four player rail shooter. You controlled the reticle of what I believe was an attack helicopter. I remember that it was dark (night time) for most of the game and that you rescued scientists. I can't even remember what you were shooting, but I remember it being a blast.

Fox Jones: The Treasures of El Dorado maybe? Was it 3D?

There was a 3ds game where you would collect SSIDs which i think would be used to generate monsters or unlock some content?

I think it unlocked items for your character or something possibly?

Asked in another thread but was kindly pointed here instead. Pretend every point has a "...I think?" after it because my memory is hazy.

It's a PC game from somewhere around 2000-2005ish
Not a big release, probably just an .exe on some guy's website
First person maze-ish, stage based gameplay. I think there were hazards in the level rather than enemies out to get you. Levels were possibly floors in a hospital
Limited CGA colour pallet
Doctors were a big theme, and cancer may have been involved
I'm pretty sure the title is two words
The one thing I know for sure is that something would talk to you in between levels and ramble on about whatever, but it'd be extremely loud and blown out

I don't even want to play the game, I just want to know the title.

Immediately that sounds like something Cactus would make

maybe I even played it and forgot

Last time asking this in this thread.

If you want to win 50$, find me this game! Once I recive my Financial aid next month I'll give your prize. A mod can make sure I pay you if you find it.

I could be mixing two or more game, in which case the money wil be split.

Here is what I remember:

-PS1 game

-Japanese

-RPG

-Team of three

-an enemy that is a fat guy sitting in a couch watching TV, attacks by farting, a couch potato

-A boss where you must protect a sandwich or a cake from flys ( no not Mario Paint )

Thank you so much! I like how it's somehow both more and less colourful than I remembered. I also had no idea who was behind it, that's awesome.

It's funny because if you hadn't mentioned CGA palette I might not have thought of it, a lot of his games are more CGA style. His website was very gaudily coloured too so it could have been that.

Do you remember if it was 2D or 3D, what type of rpg (turn based, tactical, etc), and by Japanese i'm assuming you mean its a jrpg, not that it was in Japanese?

As I said before, I could be mixing games, and everything said below could be wrong.

- The battle system was like Mario RPG on the snes, same camera style

- 70% sure it was 2D, maybe 2D sprites on a 3D world?

- A party of two boys and girl

Edit: My copy was in Japanese, don't know if there is an English version. I think it was turn based.

Sorry if this is vague, but my older brother played this game and this is literally all I remember about the game. I think it was a disaster game but what I remember is it was either a top down or third person game, an item you picked up was a carabiner, which is part of a climber's gear. Only thing else I remember is it was either on the Sega Saturn or Dreamcast and you played as a woman. I doubt anyone can get this with my vague description but I don't remember anything else. It wasn't Tomb Raider, I'm pretty sure it was a stand alone game and had no other games.

Edit: One more thing. I don't think it had snow. For some reason I want to say it was on an island.

Sounds a lot like Disaster Report (SOS The Final Escape in Europe).

there is this weird game, all that i remember about it was that the main character's soul is stolen by a giant island...and the island resembles a human head, and then you meet a guy that has 3 minds or something and then commits suicide like right after he gives you an item

it was weird as hell

I don't know anything about this game buy I want to play it lol

Alright, someone help me out here. There was this game I played on PC as a teenager where you built and designed spaceships, hopped across planets, and had battles on hexagonal(?) tiles. I'm almost certain there were aliens on the cover, but the game didn't have any sort of protagonist or story that I can remember. I want to say it was release in the mid-2000's, 2007 at the latest. My guess is somewhere between 2004-2006.

Someone was looking for that recently

I'm trying to remember the name of a PC CD-ROM adventure game (in the style of Myst) from the mid-90's. I don't remember much about the game other than that it was incredibly bizarre. You began the game by entering a giant floating head, and the conceit of the game is that you were embodying different characters is the last moments of their lives (I think). It may have had something to do with Japanese mythology, but I might be conflating that with "Cosmology of Kyoto".
I remember watching a "Let's Play" of it YouTube years ago. There's one part in particular where you're navigating a space as a character that has just been "born," for lack of a better word, when a hand comes in from off screen and snaps your character's neck. That happens in first person, through clunky Myst-ish HyperCard-type graphics. It scared the shit out of the dude playing the game in the "Let's Play," and it really sticks out in my head. I just can't remember the name of the damn game.

Found it as soon as I posted this. Of course. "Eastern Mind: The Lost Souls of Tong-Nou"
Here's a trailer for anyone interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyDwfeYaDIM

What was that baseball game on NES that the players were animals..I think a rabbit was a player but also humans played too. I used to have so much fun with that.

I think I've found the game, it's Chou Majin Eiyuuden Wataru: Another Step. Here's the intro with the dude hitting his head on a branch. Can't find any gameplay footage though. It's apparently based on an anime series of the same name.

Some tl;dr on how I finally found it:

So I've searched for this game on and off since I think the first time you posted it, but with no luck. So I decided to download the PSX Master List by DaddaRuleKonge, an amazing and massive list of every PS1 game ever released, but the nice thing about it is that it's divided into PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J lists, and every entry in the list is classified by genre (the most important thing really) along with descriptions and screenshot thumbnails, all assembled into 4 massive PDFs.

So I just brute forced it, made a list of every single game with RPG elements and then looked them up, one by one, on Google images, YouTube and the NTSC-J PlayStation DataCenter list, the last one luckily having comprehensive info and screenshots on the game. Also luckily, the game's name starts with the letter C, so I didn't have to go through too many games. ;)

Anyway, I got kinda lucky running into it relatively quickly, so I'm just glad this one's been found since there are still a bunch of seemingly really tough to find games in this thread. I know it sometimes might seem that people ignore some questions, but a forum format is kinda not the optimal way to do this, some requests get buried quickly with new posts, don't have enough info or are just very obscure and hard to find. So it's a great feeling when you find a game you haven't seen in a decade or two (it certainly took me like 15 years to find certain games I barely remembered from childhood) and an even better one when you can help out someone in doing that, that's why I love this thread, as I'm sure everyone who searches for the games and the people that help out do too. ;)

There was this racing game on either the sega Saturn or Sega Genesis where the cars I think had weapons and at some point during each race this mystery car would appear and you'd try to destroy it I think.

Anyways truly a blast.

Maybe CrimeWave for the Saturn? If not, what was the point of view, top down, isometric, behind the car, also 2D or 3D?

Was he banned for the bet? Or is that until he pays up? ._.;

Oh man, didn't check the thread and didn't even notice. I wasn't really interested in the "incentive", as I mentioned I'm just glad I managed to find the game, alhtough not glad if they got banned for it, lol. Hopefully it's temporary, it would suck to have this positive discovery be the reason being permabanned. :/

It was an early 90's JRPG on the sega genesis. I'm pretty sure it was one of the Phantasy Stars. But in my memory it was Phantasy Star V, and apparently there never was one. The thing I remember most is that some of the characters (one character, at least) you interact with early on looked like half owl or quail or something, half person rendered in an anime style. I remember them looking like Virgil from the Mighty Max cartoon. Tried finding traces of this character to confirm which Phantasy Star game it was but no dice.

Are you thinking of Gryz from Phantasy Star IV? He's the fourth party member you get in the game, and he joins fairly early on, when you're still on the starting planet.

Everything else matches up as well, as the game is anime style.

Why would that get him banned ??

I dont know, thats why i am asking. The timing would make me think its related to the 50$ he offered. :p

EDIT: apparently it was because he and a few others commented on some MODs request on keeping PoPGaf gifs to a minimum in other threads, Some PoPGAF started "whining" and or such and that's a no-no. So not your fault itchyander.

There was this game I used to play on either Windows 95, 96 or 98 (I can't remember) when I was about 3-4 years old, All I remember is it being a sidescroller (or maybe not?) Where you play as a C3P0 looking robot, I sort of remember the SFX but that's all.

It was a demo and it was on the Ps1.

So you pretty much start in a space station and you fly your ship to investigate worlds. The main character was a young.. I think red hair anime type and he was just given his first spaceship. HIs younger sister was against him using the ship because he's too young but she went along with him anyways.

One of the Colony Wars games maybe.

An Atari coop game, both players could dig through and apparently infinite scrolling stage.

It's not dig dug, or at least any of the dig drugs I've played, but it was similar.

Looking for a game that I played on PC in late 90's. It was a fighting game about some sort of monsters or mutants, you start a fight as a baby monster with a childish drinking bottle but somehow you can transform in a big monster.
Also I remember sliding in sewers sequense, that's all I got.
Pls help.
