New DCEU slate revealed at Comic Con

It's too good of an opportunity to not fix the problems that I'm sure they know realized they painted themselves into a corner with with BvS and SS.

Such as....? Reviving Jimmy Olsen? Making Batman not kill? are these things really that important for the future of this universe. I think Flash Point will be standalone and not a reboot

Are those in order of possible release? Because there's no point in thinking that Flashpoint is going to reboot DCEU/write out Bat Ben and then have "The Batman" with him.

Yeah, WB are going for it and 100% right thing to do. Fingers cross they get it right and recast a few people, Cavill should be gone, Affleck it seems will go, Leto hopefully replaced along with Eisenberg and the slate of other characters are replaced, reimagined.

Is Ayer getting the SS2 gig, hopefully not.

No Man of Steel 2 and no Justice League 2 on the slate is very interesting. WB not expecting JL to hit? Clearly Flashpoint will wrap up the Darkseid storyline and serve as a soft reboot/course correction for the DCEU, which will end up being a lot more Bat-focused.

It won't be the end of the darkseid storyline at all, that's the thanos of the dc universe.

Flashpoint: WW and Aquabro will stay on. Flash and Cyborg get better costumes. Cavill learns to smile (hope they don't replace him). Bruce gets replaced by Dick because he dies helping Barry beat Reverse Flash.

The schadenfreude if they replaced Leto's Joker would be amazing.

Flashpoint just looks like a way to change actors. That's about it.

Actors will come and go. Recasting is inevitable. But flashpoint is literally a story where continuity is changed.

Things I want changed:
1. Edgelord Joker
2. Annoying twit Luthor
3. Old veteran Trigger happy Batman
4. Moody Superman
5. Dead Jimmy Olsen

I...think that's it? Suicide Squad was a bad movie but I'm pretty fine with the casting except for Joker. A better script and adventure with the same team could work.

Good list. For me, it's also very much a tonal thing. I'd want the movies to be a lot more cheerful, whilst totally discarding that horrible dark filter that's gripped all their movies like a plague.

Also, it would be nice if Metropolis was rebuilt in a way where it would actually look much sunnier and more visually distinctive as a city, much like in the comic books.

Come on, WB. You don't just dump a bunch of logos and claim it's an upcoming slate without any details like release dates or synopsis.

We don't even know which of those movies are coming out in 2019.

Oh right, Jimmy. Yeah, the most highly requested character. Maybe he'll get a movie where he'll be..............doing nothing. And then die again.

He wasn't alone.
I had to google what JDM Batman meant. Being a car guy I thought people were saying they wanted a anime style Batman, with a giant spoiler, neon lights, and a loud exhaust. I get it now.

I liked JDM as the Comedian, and in The Losers. So, sure. I guess the neon would still work too.

A second chance to give us a Superman that's inspiring and not demoralizing, that's driven by kindness and innate goodness instead of fear and paranoia, whose strength isn't his godlike powers but his very human heart.

A second chance to give us a Batman that, yeah, doesn't kill, that isn't driven by angry brutality at the criminal element but rather a powerful desire to spare others the horrors and grief he endured, even among his adversaries.

Or a truly threatening but empathetic Lex Luthor...

Heck, even a Joker that's less a walking embarrassment and a truly incredible incarnation that does the clown prince of crime justice.

There's a LOT wrong with the DCEU, and a single great Wonder Woman film doesn't negate the fact that they can use Flashpoint to remedy a lot of grievances - from both fans and critics. It's a built-in excuse to course-correct and return several characters to their more idealized and beloved incarnations or portrayals.

Fuck All-Star Superman. It's time for American American Superman. Superman for us Millennials.

Man it's like they're using Flashpoint to set up the Batman Cinematic Universe. We 1989-2012 DC again. At least that era actually had a Superman movie thrown in there.

Why not? It's an aspect that hasn't been covered in the comic book movies up to this point. Band of misfit magic users

I've been thinking for the past half hour how they're gonna sell this to main stream audiences. I don't think Batfleck is gonna wanna do it either. I don't know, just feels so out of place to me.
