Trump ponders Rudy Giuliani for attorney general

If he gets it,how long before Giuliani has to recuse himself due to Russian connections. He was part of the campaign after all.

Giuliani would have to recuse himself too. He was part of the campaign.

This. Not only that, but unlike guys like Manaford and Flynn, despite being as much involved as they were, he's managed to fly under the radar. Taking this job makes him a target like them. And what's to stop Trump from throwing him under the bus too?

Oh good grief. Just fire Sessions already. Like you care about anything. You fired Comey and nothing happened. Just fire him.

So the next AG can fire fire or cancel the special counsel investigation?

You know damn well Republicans would let it slide if push comes to shove.

I assume anyone willing to join the shit show at this point is already in on it or too stupid to actually do their job

Nobody else will recuse or resign unless absolutely needed. Trump probably regrets firing Flynn in retrospect seeing it as a weak move.

"Now we can finally put this Russia stuff behind us and get back to what's important: investigating Clinton again. MAGA."

Sessions is legit the worst human being, but Giuliani would still be really, really terrible. And would maybe be more willing to indulge Trump's more authoritarian tendencies. Sessions is here because he wants to deport immigrants and let cops harass black people, little else. Giuliani also genuinely wants to let cops harass black people, but is a complete sycophant on top of it.

It's amazing. We're actually going to need to rely on Republicans in the Senate not to confirm an AG pick if they refuse to recuse themselves on the Russia investigations. These are not people you want to rely on, ha.

He can try and fly under the radar as much as he wants. They can easily release info on how he teased the damaging emails leak in advance and how he was talking to FBI agents in NYC. I'm sure Mueller and the IC has some details on this.
He's been lying low because he's in deep shit.
Wouldn't surprise me if he turns it down.

As mentioned, the only thing I can see that happening is because the Senate seems to be treating the investigation seriously as well as Mueller being highly respected.

Idk, as a new Yorker, his time as mayor in nyc was a improvement in all facets. You can't deny that nyc was cleaned up in many areas

These weren't even the most disturbed tweet this morning he also called a sitting United States congressman sleazy.

"Sleazy Adam Schiff, the totally biased Congressman looking into "Russia," spends all of his time on television pushing the Dem loss excuse!"

And I know I'm beyond tired of his constant saying the Russia thing is because the Democrats lost an election. Shut. The. Fuck. Up.

The most objectionable thing in the OP is not name 'Giuliani' but the word 'ponders'... as if Trump ever gives anything more than five seconds thought.

That's my point: if offered, he'd probably turn it down for the reasons mentioned. He's not family like Eric ad company, nor is he an outside opportunist like the new Comms director. The best move for Rudy is to stay away.

Trump can keep surrounded himself with Yes Men all he wants. It just makes it even more sweeter when he finally falls and all of those idiots go right along with him.

Did people think this? The dude was going to let Trump do and say whatever he wants.

Yeah I don't know why people thought that. He's now openly stated he wants Trump to be himself.

I don't think this Rudy thing happens for a variety of reasons. There just doesn't seem to be any realistic path. Trump is pissed and wants Sessions to sweat is all.

Pretty sure he would've nominated Rudy in January if he thought he could've been confirmed.
It was for a different position but Rand came out and said there was no chance Gulliani was going to be SoS.

I don't think the senate would approve of him now for this. Or really anyone for that matter.

If he fires Sessions I think the senate will be fine with Rosenstein being AG just like the FBI situation

Right. As I said in the PoliGAF thread:

Spoiler alert: Presidents normally only nominate people they KNOW will be confirmed. If the President floats a name and the Senate privately says, "Eh, no," the person won't get the nomination. This process saves the President the embarrassment of having a nominee rejected publicly, but it can give outsiders the impression of the Senate being a rubber stamp.

Again, in January we heard rumors that Trump wanted to nominate Rudy, but senators probably told him that Rudy wouldn't survive the hearings. Thus, Trump nominated someone else.

I wonder what this does for the relationship between Trump and Bannon once Trump cans Sessions.

He pretty much ignores Bannon now despite the latter actually offering advice that could've averted a few disasters. Bannon said not to fire Comey. Trump fired Comey. Bannon said not to hire Scaramucci. Trump hired Scaramucci.

Kushner has supplanted Bannon as the main adviser.

He probably thinks Giuliani would be able to put pressure on the NYAG, because we all know they're gonna go all-in on the Trump family.

Has Trump actually fired anyone yet? It just seems like everyone eventually quits at some point.

He fired the Acting Attorney-General Sally Yates, US Attorney Preet Bharara, and of course, James Comey. Funnily enough, these direct firings were all related to investigations into the Trump administration. Coincidence, uh huh. Usually resignations this early are really a firing anyway. Flynn's resignation was hardly a laying down of a burden after a long distinguished service to his office, heh.

I don't think Giuliani wants to sit through a senate confirmation where he'll be grilled about NY FBI office leaks, but maybe that's wishful thinking.

I doubt it'll happen, but in case it does, I'm totally against this. Sessions is a fucking shitbag, but at least he recused himself from the Russia investigation. Trump wants Giulliani so that he has an AG working for him that isn't recused, even if Giulliani promises the senate that he will. Plus, he's every bit as much as an asshole as Sessions.

This is how loyalty can fuck you. Trump's inner circle of trust is basically his favorite kids, and the guy who gets to fuck Ivanka. Nobody else can ever get in that circle.

Love watching these bad decisions. Bannon has got to be so pissed, wonder how long he'll last.
